Dr. Gary William Machiko

I went to see Dr. Machiko 3 times for a toothache. Each dental visit I had X-rays and an exam and was told nothing was wrong with my teeth . (I was charged for an exam and X-rays at all 3 visits) At this point Dr. Machiko suggested a brux guard (possibly brux omg was causing the pain?) When I came into pickup my brux guard the dental assistant tried getting it fit for about 45 minutes. Not once did Dr. Machiko check to make sure it fit correctly. I paid $450 and left. That evening when I tried to wear the brux guard it was extremely tight on e side and loose on the other side. I called and spoke to Kathy about the situation and she refunded my $450. I decided it would be best for me to get a second opinion regarding my toothache. I went to another dentist and I was diagnosed with an infection in my tooth and had to have a root canal. My 6 year old daughter had an exam and cleaning by Dr. Machiko. He told me her mouth looked fine except a small chip on the upper molar. He said it didn’t need fixed he’d just keep an eye on it. I decided to take my daughter to a pediatric dentist. During my daughter’s exam this dentist asked me if it was my daughter’s first time at the dentist because she had 3 cavities. One where the chipped tooth was and 2 cavities on lower. Dr. Machiko doesn’t take any type of dental insurance so I paid at the time of my visit. Kathy is supposed to submit the procedure the insurance co and the insurance would send me a check for the allowable fees. After 3 plus months I realized I never received payment from my insurance co. I called Kathy and she said she would resubmit it to it to ins co. This entire experience that I experienced was awful.

Throughout all of my years as a patient and through several different procedures, I have never once felt any pain or been unhappy with his work. I moved to Houston 5 years ago, but still use him as my dentist when I go home because I haven't been able to find a dentist down here that is comparable to him and his practice. I recently had a lip lowering procedure done by him to correct my "gummy" smile and I am beyond ecstatic with the results and have received so many compliments.
