A Terrible and incompetent Doctor, a terrible human being.

We saw Dr. Gary Smith at UT Urgent Care in Tyler on Christmas Eve. We were in town visiting family from out-of-State, and our four-month-Old has developed blisters on her face and was running a temp off an on. He was very condescending and dismissive, didn’t examine her, and didn’t check her mouth despite my insistence. Had he, he would have seen blisters in her mouth as well, I indicating the hand-foot-mouth virus. He said it was just eczema, and sent us home. Two days later, the rest of us caught the virus and I was in the hospital. (I have an autoimmune disease that induces shock when I run a fever.) And, the blisters had spread over my daughter’s entire body and developed impetigo. Now, we owe $700 for being seen for five minutes, misdiagnosed, and sent home. Not to mention, he prescribed an oral steroid which our pediatrician later said was contraindicated and worsened the infection.
