Dr. J Timothy Leavell

Just received a summary of my son's visit. Dr. Leavell incorrectly documented family history (pretty important being a predicting factor for diagnosis), and history of events explained (i.e., documenting the exact opposite of what was explained). Dr. Leavell tried to explain his findings; however, his criteria seemed vague and incomplete (doesn't seem to know DSM-V criteria exists). Overall, I'm surprised he claims this to be his specialty. Both my son and I feel misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and frankly, misrepresented. I don't know if this doctor was hungry, or retiring soon, but he seemed careless. I'm very disappointed.

He spent over an hour in very near silence and clearly not wanting us to talk in the room while he read the paperwork we sent in over a month prior. He based his entire opinion off of what my son's teacher submitted, and his teacher made it very clear in her report that she does not like my son. Which still I understand has some value. However Dr. Leavell spent maybe two minutes talking to my son, and then made his decision. I am extremely disappointed with the care he provided.

Needs to see his own patients and not send them to his extremely unprofessional nurse practioner Dr. Powell

At 10yrs old, my son had a nervous breakdown. Then we found Dr. Leavell. He did miraculous work with my son, and also with helped his brother who has Aspergers. He called after hours to check on us, he got us new medications he thought would help as soon as they were on the market. Time and time again, he showed great professional care and treatment.

Misdiagnosed my child. Talked about child as if the child was not in the room. Did not give proper advice. Concentrated only on medication.

WE WAITED 8 MONTHS TO GET IN TO SEE DR. LEAVELL, HOWEVER I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED BY HOW HE TOOK IN ALL THE DETAILS AND ACTUALLY LISTENED TO WHAT WE TOLD HIM.
