Dr. Janell Myers

Saw Dr Myers for several months after moving to Dallas. Overly opinionated and doesn't meet people where they are - I felt judged when I tried to talk to her which made it difficult to be honest. The worst part, is that right when my wife left me and huge emotional issues surfaced that I needed to work on, she dropped me as a patient with the excuse of an upcoming retirement much later this year. This made me feel even more abandoned than I already did from the loss of my wife. Any therapist who can have that reaction in the first session when a person is broken shouldn't be seeing patients anymore. Her parting gift was basically telling my marriage was over and that I had a very long road ahead of me based on what I had opened up to her about. Classy.

Made an appointment and she doesn’t answer the phone or the door as you can hear someone inside. Waste of time. Look elsewhere for help.

I have seen Janell for over 3 years. She is very caring and attentive. I appreciate that she takes reminder notes, for instance. She is relevant with my previous concerns, goals, and history. Her approach is genuine and thoughtful. The first week I visited her, Janell explained to me that she was direct and she'd understand if I preferred a different style of therapy. I bit my lip at first, but I must say, I am glad I stayed through my first couple weeks of anxiety. Janell is a Christian, so I was afraid of any religious interference with my agnostic "beliefs." So, it astounds me how she has always left it up to me to bring up any talk about belief systems. I just think that must be hard to do—but it has been important to me.

Dr Myers is an incredible doctor. Twice I have turned to her when life was so difficult, I could not see a way out of my pain. Once was after a devastating divorce and the other was when my son relapsed and lost a full scholarship. The way she “heard me” and “walked” with me during my process helped me to release the trauma. Each time as I began, I felt trapped and helpless. I didn’t think life would ever be OK again. Somehow she knew what to say and do to gently bring me back to my true self. I had no idea how co dependent I was, and how I wasn’t helping my son and couldn’t until I got healthy! Who knew??? Well Dr Myers did. Now my son is back in school, acing all his classes and my heart and life are so full . Dr Myers has a gift and I’m am so grateful she is in this profession and that she was there when I needed her!

I emphatically can NOT recommend this practitioner. She did not help with any issues and further betrayed my trust and revealed private health information to others regardless of her being explicitly instructed not to. The damage she has caused is like a lifetime movie that I cannot even begin to explain on this site. I wish that someone else would have warned me about her because the harm she has caused may be irreparable. Time will tell. Don't test your luck with her...

Dr. Myers has been a friend and colleague of mine for over 25 years. She is extremely competent, compassionate and experienced, and I would not hesitate to refer friends and family to her for therapy.
