Dr. Javed M Akram

I was treated by Dr. Akram at Texas H. Presbyterian Hospital for persistent, underlying infection in my lower legs that was threatening to spread. He successfully determined a working solution to my problem that involves several months of intravenous antibiotics along with other practices such as leg wraps, etc. It is now working! I highly recommmend Dr. Akram for his ability to communicate equally with his patients, and ask the right questions, thereby achieving a good sense of the problem and who is very kind.

I am a patient of Dr. Akram's with HIV. Although I do not have a problem with my doctor, I do have a problem with the front desk. I called today and spoke to a young lady (I did not get her name) and told her that my insurance does not cover my medication. It is $8800 for 3 months. I told her that I can get assistance through Gilead for $7200. I asked her if she had any resources I could use to help with the $1600 difference. She said no, that all she would be able to do is google the information like I did!. She offered no assistance whatsoever. I asked if she was aware of other organizations that could help me. She said no. I can not believe an infectious disease practice does not have other resources that they can refer me to. I have been a patient in 2 other states and have always gotten direction from my doctor's team when it came to financial assistance. To say that I am in shock at this interaction is an understatement.

Dr. Akram saved my life in April 2017. I contracted Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff) after Hernia Surgery. My White Blood Cell Count wouldn't drop from 30,000. Dr. Akram came On Board. I was transferred from ICU to 4-East, The Post Surgical Floor on Saturday, April 29, 2017. In four (04) days, after Dr. Akram changed my IV's, I went home on Wednesday, May 03, 2017. My White Blood Cell Count had dropped from 30,000 to 11,700! Dr. Javed Akram is truly an amazing Infectious Disease Specialist.

I am a cancer patient that ended up in the hospital very sick. Dr Akram took very good care of me. I would recommend him to any of my friends or family.
