My husband had surgery for a hernia in early 2001. He has experienced discomfort in the area post-surgically for the last 10 months. Dr.Bentley shrugged it off as “normal” without doing any further examination or tests to find out if there had been any complications. We then went back to see him when some lower abdomen discomfort continued. After many tests, he recommended that the gall bladder be removed. Needless to say, We immediately went for a second opinion. After more tests and a thorough exam from another surgeon, we were told that in no way could my husband’s symptoms be gall bladder related and it would be poor practice to remove it. I would not recommend Dr. Bentley for any surgical procedures.

Dr Bentley removed my gaulbladder. I had had a bad week. Failure from my pcp to diagnose what dr Bentley seemed to think we're classic signs of gaulbladder problem. He was direct, no nonsense and compassionate. Then, he got the job done. I loved him!

Worse doctor I have ever seen. Went for a hernia surgery and was missed Diagnosed. Mr Bentley performed the surgery and couldn’t find the the hernia Went to MGH and Exeter hospital after surgery because of serious pain and was Diagnosed with nerve damage from a wrongful surgery. Save my life over 30 years ago as a young surgeon. He is the Best. And I'm very Greatful god put him in my life. Thank you Jeff!

In January 2015 I had emergency surgery for an abdominal cavity infection, during which Dr. Bentley basically saved my life. Since then, I've had the need for more abdominal surgeries- just recently had my 5th (yes, that's correct!) surgery with him and I always know I'm in good hands. Yes, the waits have been long at follow-up appointments- because he runs late from early morning surgeries and emergencies. He came to check on me twice when not on duty or on call last summer after a bad colonoscopy experience (was hospitalized almost a week, and NOT the fault of the other surgeon who performed colonoscopy, just my weird body), simply because he knows my body and its reactions to surgery, etc. I want to be under his care anytime I have a problem. His bedside manner is stellar, and he is a kind & knowledgeable surgeon & human. I honestly don't know when he sleeps! His staff are friendly & professional. p.s. I have no problem with his pups being in the office, they are delightful.

excellent surgeon, one of a kind bedside manner. My husband was a pt of Dr. Bentley. What a Boston hospital could not do, Dr. Bentley did to prevent complications in a surgical procedure. His one of a kind bedside approach was just what we needed to ease our minds. Dr. Bentley removed my gallbladder in 2000 and my ruptured appendix in 2018. He puts the patients care first and foremost and is always professional. He explains everything pertinent to the surgery and makes you feel at ease. He also adds a sense of humor which I appreciated. I would highly recommend Dr. Bentley to anyone in need of a surgeon. Doctor Bentley recently performed a hernia repair on me. From my initial physical evaluation, to my follow up appointment post-surgery, I had absolutely no complaints. His office assistants were knowledgable and nice, and Dr. Bentley is equally as interesting a person, as he is skilled a surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone- as he made my first experience in surgery easy and enjoyable.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bentley's for the past four years. He has treated me for colon cancer. He has done one surgery on me which produced wonderful results. I find Dr. Bentley to be a great doctor. He listens to my concerns and answers my questions honestly. His staff are courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Wait time is a little much, but worth it. I would recommend Dr. Bentley 100% to any patient needing Surgery. He is a great Doctor and a good man.

I would write my full experience, but there aren't enough characters to describe how bad it was. I waited 1.5 hrs with no apology offered once finally seen. The whole office stinks from two dogs who have "free reign" over it. Dr. was dismissive, misogynistic, and I couldn't believe anyone had recommended him. I have been a surgical RN for 12 years. I've worked in clinics and feel forgiving with surgeons. If I could give 0 stars I would. Go to Boston if you need surgery.
