Dr Florman is an outstanding Neurosurgeon. Manie Med is extremely lucky to have him. In addition he genuinely cares about his patients. That was evident to me when I spoke with him pre surgery, immediately after and on his follow up call a couple of weeks later. I was sent to him when it was discovered that I had a pituitary adenoma. which is a fatty tumor squeezing my pituitary gland preventing necessary hormones from getting to vital organs of my body. I had been suffering with this for at at least 5 years, doctors telling me nothing was wrong with me. On more than one occasion I thought I was going to die. Worst of all was not knowing why or what as wrong with me. What a relief it was to meet him and find someone who could answer my questions. I immediately felt reassured that he was someone who knew what he was doing and genuinely cared. He was honest about the severity of my condition and told met it was unlikely that he could get it all given it's size. That meant I would probably need radiation therapy after. I was pleasantly surprised when They woke me up and told me he had gotten it all. In total I've spoken with him maybe ten minutes in all. In that short time he was able to make me feel at that I mattered. Actually got choked up when I thanked him in a follow up call. He has restored my faith in modern medicine. Referred to Dr. Florman for my daughter to have Brain biopsy and/resection. Not only did he dismiss our concerns and questions, he was arrogant and rude. He told my daughter and I that he is “sorry the other doctors were wrong” and to “ cut the tumor talk”. When I expressed my concern of glial cell regrowth and how we needed to be 100%” he told us we can go get another 2 or 3 opinions if we want “. He advised my daughter to stop her seizure meds today, stating there is no need for them- we followed up immediately with her neurologist who said she ABSOLUTELY needs to remain on her medications. An excellent neurosurgeon! I was amazed at the fact that He did my brain surgery and I didn't have a huge bald spot after the surgery and the sutures dissolved without having to be removed. I actually had brain surgery and went home the next day from the hospital! Incredible!

Easy to talk with and easier then most physicians. He has been kind, understanding and very patience with me.

Amazing doctor. Appropriately hesitant to offer surgery. I appreciate he discouraged me from surgery and I am doing great. Great reputation.

72 year old w/broken neck from car wreck. Serious operation very successful. 1 year later no paralysis. Neck tight turning to right. Followed his directions am now 73, bass fishing, riding my side by side atv. Most of all alive and able to interact with grandchildren 1,2,3,years. A real pro and tells it like it is. My PCP referred me to this physician for multiple disc herniations at c3-c6 with severe pain and myelopathy at c3-c4. Florman arrogantly dismissed it as 'not bad enough' to consider surgery at that time. However I have now been scheduled to receive proper surgical treatment at a well known hospital in Boston and without delay due to serious nature of injury and it's urgency to remediate. Best of luck to Florman and company in Scarborough Maine.

My son herniated a disc in his neck. This physician advised steroids & if that didn't work come back & he would do the surgery. SEVENTEEN months of steroids and prescription pain meds, MRIs, lost feeling in his arm and loss of muscle tone & then he refused to do the surgery. Went to another surgeon. Had surgery within the week. His disc was crushed and had to be totally removed and replaced.

I met with dr florman sometime in december where he was blunt but real about what I was facing. I prefer the hoensty and his advice. We decided to go for it and fiz ths problem. January 18th 2016 doctor Florman successfully removed a Avm from my brain. . In so many ways he is my hero for what he did not only for me, but what he does for people in general. I CANNOT GIVE ENOUGH TO THANKS to him. Thanks u!

Dr. Florman cares about his patients; this man saved my life after he performed a brain aneryism surgery a few years ago. Great surgeon with a great personality! THE best in Maine.

My wife and I had his-and-hers meningiomas a few years apart, and Dr. Florman performed both surgeries. (Although he didn't offer quantity discounts.) He was careful to fully explain the procedures, and we had implicit faith in him. He did tell us about the dangers inherent in the surgeries, but he did so in such a way that we weren't worried (much). We'd go back to him in a second, and we've recommended him to others.

I visited Dr. Florman with my daughter. He introduced himself, leaned on the counter and said" so you want neck surgery, screws,metal plate's and pain. I went there on a referral to decide if I should have shoulder surgery or neck surgery first. The answer was shoulder surgery. Who goes to a neck surgeon on a referral to hear that. Answer: he scared the he'll out of me. Very unprofessional introduction. I'll never go back to him

Dr Florman treated me with emergency surgery after a serious injury to my L1 and lumbar after which I was entirely paralyzed from the waist down and had no feeling in my legs. Day three after the operation I was up and moving around in a brace and because of his expertise in the operating room where he replaced a burst vertebra with biomatter and inserted rods. He gave excellent follow up advice, and the notes from the surgery were thorough, which helped with insurance and work accommodations.

I went to Dr. Florman after a severe neck injury. He declared he could not rebuild my neck! and I would be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life like Christopher Reeves. As an ex-jockey this didn't sound attractive and I moved on. Nine months after another surgeon HAD rebuilt my neck with stem cells from my hip, I hiked to the top of Mount Washington. I live a full life with full functioning hands and legs. Detailed letter and pictures to follow by snail mail. Not good Dr. Florman! Devi
