I repeatedly said that I didn’t want to be a burden on resources, that I was looking for an initial assessment resulting in an accurate prescription only. Then he decided to wash his hands of me before even beginning. The usual technique: tell this person who obviously has a hard time being near people, “you’ll be in a group” and then, despite my not saying anything to that: “Oh, I can see you’re reacting”. Is that why I am here? So you can get a reaction out of me? Wow. Passive aggressive much? So after telling this young assistant all my personal details, describing my failures, shedding tears in the most undignified fashion, they then decide to call me and tell me they “don’t have the resources to treat me”. Maybe they should tell that to a potential non-patient BEFORE they risk spilling their guts?? Why deny people on the grounds of resources they did not ask or register for? Lesson? If you are white, working class, working poor, an immigrant, with no family or friends near, do not waste your time seeking out help here. Door wide open, then slammed in your face. Case closed. Specializing in treating those who are severely depressed, only to reject them for being, in fact, too depressed and “requiring a level of treatment” is no different to requiring a high level of qualifications to fill a position, and then rejecting the person for being too qualified. It’s so needlessly cruel. Meanwhile, they’re happy to hand out free Metrocards to spoiled white girls whose only problem in life is suffering from “trauma” due to the 2016 election.
