Dr. Avendano gave my wife body dysmorphia of which we’re still feeling the consequences of a year after our daughter’s birth. My wife was 5’9 125 pounds at conception, and through our healthy pregnancy, Dr. Avendano constantly berated her about her weight gain. She gained a total of 25 lbs throughout her pregnancy and dealt with feet swelling. Dr. Avendano constantly berated her that she was eating anything but egg whites and organic oatmeal. One time she even made her eat oatmeal in front of her and say it was satiating despite her cravings. She put my wife on a 0mg salt diet to deal with feet swelling which didn’t counteract the issue. (thankfully google taught us about compression socks). My wife was terrified to go to her appointments not because of the health of her baby, but because of the comments the doctor would give on her diet and weight. When it did come time for delivery, we called the office as instructed, but did not hear back for 3 days. Dr. Avendano had a family emergency, which is understandable. But why did it take until after 72 hours of labor to get a return call to the hospital? In the end we we charged $28,000 for delivery separate from our hospital bills which we’re all deemed emergency because our OB was inaccessible. Today my wife is in therapy for her new found eating disorder, our sex life is non existent because she thinks her now 5’9 130 frame is disgusting, and we’re in collections for a $65 bill for a follow up visit my wife was too ashamed to show up for that we skipped and they failed to mail us an invoice for. First off, I consider myself to be a kind person who doesn’t like to write negative things. But this so-called doctor, who supposedly is here to Help, does the opposite. I have been told countless times from at least 10 people that she doesn’t listen, doesn’t care, blames others for her own mistakes, and has absolutely zero respect for the people she works with as well as takes on as clients. I mean just look at the other reviews. This doctor’s license needs to be revoked. She is giving a bad name to all medical professionals in the business and someone WILL sue her at some point. It’s just a matter of time. Please save yourself and run the other way. This doctor is worth no ones time. Honestly it was hard for me to even convince myself to write this because I value my time, but I can’t be silent if I can save someone from calling. And why google, are you forcing me to give her a star she doesn’t deserve? Zero stars or negative stars would be much more accurate. Extremely disappointed by the poor level of service and lack of overall understanding despite being a patient for 11 years. Unfortunately, I have experienced one too many unpleasant experiences and would not recommend Dr. Avendano.

Do not recommend.

I have attended Dr Avendano for over 10 years. She is so smart, thorough and knowledgeable. She takes the time to listen and get to the root of things. I highly recommend her!

The office is not like others. Not big box medicine. She is a chiropractor, an osteopathic doctor and a traditional ob/gyn who likes to take a natural approach to care whenever possible. Less 'regular' medicine. I know she works with my naturopath and I like that. She listens to me and works with nutrition, and things like that. It's a small office so I feel more comfortable.

Caring Doctor. Makes you feel very comfortable and well informed. I had surgery done by her and I'm very happy I went with her. Will definitely recommend her to everyone I know!!

Dr. Barrett-Avendano is outstanding! My wife and I recently had a child with her as our O.B. and had a fantastic experience! She is very knowledgeable and professional. Dr. Barrett-Avendano was there for us every step of the way, even when we had a hiccup in our insurance (Tri-care is such a pain sometimes). I would recommend this office to anyone looking to have a baby! A small story to show why we think so: We were looking to have our baby all naturally. Due to water partially breaking and no contractions we were told at Overlake by one of the nurses, before the Dr. arrived, that we were going to have to have Pitosin and no other options. My wife started freaking out!!! She wanted to have the baby as naturally as possible. Dr. Barrett-Avendano walked in and immediately told the nurse, "The patient is the boss, whatever she says goes unless we absolutely have to intervene". Told us we had the option of breaking the amniotic sack fully. Upon doing so the contractions started almost immediately. Without any further complications we had our baby all natural! Dr. Barrett-Avendano explains everything to you as you go. Explains all your options, and helps you understand everything about all the multiple steps of pregnancy. My wife and I are so glad we chose her and wouldn't change it!!! We will definitely be going to her if we decide to have a second child! Dr. Barrett-Avendano is outstanding!
