Dr Kristen Sylvia MD runs the IMAT(integrated medication assistance therapy) program for substance abuse treatment at MMP Scarborough Family Medicine 300 professional drive scarborough location. I have worked with her long before the utilization of this program. She originally practiced family medicine before opting to focus on specialized treatment for substance abuse. She is straightforward and knowledgeable and stands strongly for her patients while understamding that each patient is unique. She is active in spreading knowledge to other practitioners and aids in the destigmatization of dependence. She treats both patients that are new to sobriety (less than 1 year) and long-term patients stable in their sobriety. Dr Sylvia will go above and beyond for a patient if the patient is honest and serious about their sobriety. She is a strong advocate for treatment.
