My experience with Dr. Allen on both occasions was excellent. He spent a reasonable amount of time with me he explained the results of all the assessments and the MRI. The first visit he prescribed an anti-viral which eliminated the vertigo by the next day. The second visit he referred me to a vestibular physical therapist. We’ll see how that goes.

I have been seeing Dr. Allen since 2013 when I developed BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). The condition was very severe and debilitating. Dr. Allen has effectively treated me for almost 10 years now. When I have had flareups, he has accommodated getting me in to receive immediate treatment. He also provided me with a referral for physical therapy that greatly improved my condition. He has a kind and calm demeanor and takes his time during an office visit to ask and answer important questions. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Allen and his colleagues and the Tampa Bay Hearing & Balance Center here in our community. I fear what my life may have been like had this condition not been correctly diagnosed and treated. Thank you, Dr. Allen! 3 years ago, my audiologist highly recommended Dr. Allen for my CIs. I was deaf in one ear & had NORMAL low-tones-only residual hearing in my other ear. Audi promised me much better hearing, clarity in voices, & better hearing at music. Dr. Allen warned me before 1st CI that I could lose my hearing & music, but I had nothing to lose in my deaf ear. 1st CI greatly complimented my good, normal low-tones-only residual hearing in other ear. However, I did not receive same warning nor did Dr. Allen follow up with audiologist to protect this good, normal low-tones-only residual hearing in other ear. After 2nd CI, I am now deaf in that “good” ear, can no longer hear music, & ALL sounds are horribly distorted - permanently. I can no longer lipread like I used to either. Dr.Allen should have warned me before 2nd CI like he did with 1st CI or simply refuse to do 2nd CI. I'm sure doctor Allen is great. However I will not find this out due to failure of his scheduling department. Week after a first visit I called my health insurance to see if they approved me for a surgery just to find out that the authorization form was never sent by the hospital. Called a scheduling department, left a voice mail, never got called back. Oh well.. Decided to take another route with Dr. Edward Kampsen. He is well known and has over twenty years of experience. Dr Allen, he's wonderful. I was deaf for 20 years in my left ear from my first surgery with another Doctor. I was struggling with my daily life and it was embarrassing not being able to hear. The audiology exam was professional and appropriately targeted the referral question. My ENT, Dr. Allen, superbly listened to my presenting symptoms, thoroughly presented a number of treatment options with each of their pros and cons, and together we selected the option that was most fitting. I could not be more pleased with the services provided. I give TBH&BC and Dr. Allen my highest endorsement.

Dr. Allen is so thorough, he explains everything and makes sure you understand completely. He takes his time and you never feel rushed. He is always there to answer any care and concerns you may have. I would highly recommend this practice. The staff are fantastic, professional and very polite

A great experience! Very clean office and a professional staff. Dr. Allen took the time to listen to my concerns. He explained why it was happening and gave me several options to consider. After reviewing pros and cons, he suggested the best treatment for my particular case. I left my appointment feeling thankful and optimist. Thank you!!!

He's a very caring doctor and the staff is very pleasant.

I have had stubborn Ménière’s disease for several years. Through Dr Allen’s calm and methodical approach my symptoms are greatly reduced and I’ve been able to lead an active and busy lifestyle and continue to improve. He’s never pushed surgery although he is a highly capable and respected surgeon for the rare procedure I would need. He’s very accessible and a great communicator. Never too busy to listen and thoughtfully answer all questions. Amazingly, unlike other docs in the practice runs close to or right on schedule. I feel very fortunate to have found him as I was extremely ill when I first visited him about 18 months ago. I have had stubborn Ménière’s disease for several years. I saw Dr Allen for the first time November 2018 for a tumor in my ear canal, better known as Vestibular Swannoma. He's a wonderful doctor, has a great bedside manner & listens to his patients ! The office staff are just as wonderful & would recommend this practice to anyone for ear or hearing problems.

I have been going to Dr.Allen for a year & half. I wasn’t getting better & went back to see him a few times. He gave me different diagnoses none of them helped ! I have lost over 2 years of living & still can’t drive ! Go to the UF in Gainsville ! Don’t waste your time & money with this doctor !!

I have had a lifetime of ear infections and complicated issues and He explains everything well and I feel I'm in the best care possible with him. I highly recommend him! Best in the business!.. Update as of March 20th 2018. I had to see another doctor in his office since he was out of town and it was awesome and on point especially since I had to be squeezed in. Really Great doctor. Has experience and more of like person who will tell you what's right for you. And he did my surgery and went really absolutely fantastic without any problems and he's also really highly educated.

He was very polite and not at all condescending, like some doctors can be, even though I was worried out of my mind for, apparently, no good reason. Don't be fooled. You may think this doctor is too young but man o man does he know his stuff. Best doc I've EVER been to or real close. By far the best ENT doc out there. He did things other ENT's have never done!! I trust him completely with my ear surgery coming up. Staff is good, nurses was just okay but I think it was a different nurse than usual. Only thing is they still have not called for my surgery date and it's been 3 days. I left a message. They also failed to tell me I needed a blood draw for my MRI beforehand. You can't win them all but I think this group is good. I will update later once the surgery is complete. Don't be fooled. You may think this doctor is too young but man o man does he know his stuff. Dr. Allen is the best. Spends a great time to make sure all patients questions are answered. Thoroughly explains conditions, etc. Good at getting Rx refilled. Highly skilled skull based surgeon and high specialization. Would highly recommend.

Dr. Allen and the staff at Tampa Bay Hearing and Balance Center are outstanding. They got me in the same day, spent a lot of time with me, were patient and interested in my health, diagnosed my condition and gave me a good idea of how my recovery would proceed (I had Vestibular Neuritis). I saw Dr. Allen and a physical therapist and another person and all were very capable and nice. A wonderful change from typical health care. Thank you Dr. Allen and everyone at your Center.
