Dr. River was very kind and compassionate with my mother. And very considerate of the family’s needs and questions. Taking the time to make sure we understood all the options and possibilities of treatment. Highly recommend her and her staff!

Awful. Gaslit me my entire appt. I left feeling unsupported, not heard and my concerns brushed aside. Not one shred of empathy or friendliness.

Dr. River spends time with me and listens to what I have to say. She is very knowledgeable and works hard to help with my situation. I really feel that finally, I have someone on my side.

Dr. River listens to you and seems genuinely interested in your problems. She cares about the outcome of your tests and pursues answers to find the right treatment for you. We would definitely recommend her.

Dr. River has been my husband's doctor since he had a "stroke" 16 years ago (at my request). We love her; she is our favorite doctor, among many! She is brilliant, kind, caring, always up to date professionally, personable, etc., etc. She takes time to talk, explain, LISTEN, etc. The office seems well run, and phone calls are handled well. Erin, her MA is wonderful. Calls go thru her 1st and she is great at screening, but also good about getting me to Dr. R. when necessary, either by phone or in to see her. I'm a retired N.P., and Dr. R is simply the best. I pray daily that she doesn't retire while my husband is still alive! Neither my husband nor myself have ever been patients at St. Al's, so can't comment on that.

I have received many years of excellent medical care and I appreciate Dr. River's knowledge and care.

I was in a car crash, not an accident, a crash and sustained traumatic brain injury with short-term memory loss. She told my parents I was fine. If I had not been properly diagnosed by another doctor, I would not have gotten the appropriate treatment. She is dismissive and cocky. The way she practices medicine is incompetent and dangerous.

She was happy that I have been having less headaches and migraines, but she really just wanted to keep prescribing more meds. She doesn't really listen to what the patient wants.

She is thoughtful, considerate and thorough.. The office staff were friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend!

Dr River is kind, helpful, attentive and comprehensive in her care. I consider her one of the top Neurologist is the state.

My primary care physician referred me to Dr Mary River after I began experiencing numbness in my legs, difficulty walking, and back spasms. He wanted me to get tested for multiple sclerosis. Dr River explained to me that MS is often Lyme disease and recommended that I find a doctor to properly test me through a lab in California called Igenex. Sure enough, I found a doctor in Boise and tested positive. I had to pay out of pocket for the test due to it being such a controversial disease but it was still worthwhile. I'm still confused as to why Dr. River couldn't test me and II had to go elsewhere and pay out of pocket.

My wife had a significant infection that impacted her cognitive functions. We are working with a peer of Dr. Rivers and reached her via on call at about 22:00. We found her response to my questions to be professional, detailed, appropriate and understanding. She brought up the possibility of (nursing home?) placement in a thoughtful manner. My answers (below) about office contacts reflect many positive interactions with the neurology team.

Thorough, but matter of fact which equals NO "bed-side" manner, even robotic in nature. I completed first-time patient questionnaire, and when asked about medicines, or injuries and dates, I replied they are written in the form and specifically noted. Dr. Rivers replies she'd rather hear it first hand from patients. When having memory issues, it's easier to copy from an accurate list. Did not feel valued, or respected. Long wait time. I will NOT return.

Dr. Rivers always spends as much time with me as I require to get all of my questions answer. She is very thorough and listens to what I say and responds accordingly. I highly recommend her.

I couldn't be happier since I came to meet "Dr Mary"! She helped me reduce my seizure frequency by an unbelievable amount, and that has only made me feel better overall. Thank you, Dr River...I'm so glad you "nagged at me" to change meds! She also speaks to me (not AT am) and only uses little words when I ask her to explain something...yet another thing that makes her outstanding.

Outstanding doctor. She always takes the time to discuss the issues fully with me and makes medical decisions based on both my needs and good medical science. I have sent everyone needing a Neurologist to her.

Dr River has been my neurologist physician for about 9 months and I would rate her expertise and care as outstanding. Over her 30 years of practice, she has acquired premier expertise in the care & treatment of neurological problems and diseases. She takes whatever time is needed to address each patients concerns and questions. I highly recommend Dr River.

I had a problem with the ulnar nerve in my elbow. Dr. River's staff tried to do a test to see the extent of the nerve transmission, but the assistant to Dr. River had no idea what she was doing and fouled the test up. Dr. River then suggested I go to a neuro who could actually do this test in San Francisco. This doctor did a much more thorough examination, the differences were glaring. He sent a report to Dr. River which said I needed immediate surgery but she failed to tell me for two months.
