Insurance had turned down my approval for MRI.There was just a small issue but Megan in the approval department,never reached out to me. I called several times to help even call Cigna to find out the hold up. After 7 phone calls and a month of waiting, I finally got someone to talk to. Then when I scheduled the MRI girl at front desk demanded 700.00 dollars for payment. I was told by Cigna my copay was 200.00, but that wasn't good enough. She called someone while I was on the phone with Cigna. Finally after someone looked into my insurance I was right, but I was not getting my MRI tell payment was made.

I felt very discouraged. I have more pain now than I did before surgery and although my MRI showed softening of the spinal cord, loss of blood volume, other bulging discs and moderate spinal cord compression he said he had no idea why I was still in so much pain. He said there was nothing else we could do but wait and hope I’m not in the small percentage that end up with chronic pain. His bedside manner made me feel stupid like he thought I was making it up and that everything on the radiology report meant nothing and didn’t explain my pain. I felt devastated when I left.

I didn't like that he badmouthed another Dr. My Neuro Surgeon. Other wise it was a pleasant visit

Dr Gerlach is such a caring Doctor who showed sincere interest in my spine issues, took time to carefully explain what we were looking at on the MRI and x-ray, and answered questions I had.

Dr. Gerlach is a very compassionate person. He listens thoroughly and offers all the help he can. When it comes to pain and surgical options, he explains everything to a tee! Couldn’t ask for a better doctor!

Dr Gerlach and his P.A Susie took very good care of my pain management. Never had this much pain from my back. I am very grateful ????. Very caring group at Orthopedic Center of the Rockies. Highly recommend!

I have met with Dr Gerlach twice. The first time he listened to my issues, talked about the history of my problems. He did a neurological exam and determined an MRI was in order. After getting the MRI results, he described the what and why of my problem and presented me with 3 options. When I opted for a steroid shot he explained what to expect and set up the referral. Overall he was very easy to talk to and explained everything very well. Would highly recommend.

Dr. Gerlach and his staff have been maybe the best set of medical professionals I've ever worked with. They were proactive with insurances and out of pocket expenses and letting me understand my total expenses. Pre Op was awesome as the PA Suze was very helpful in letting me understand what would happen the day of surgery. The day of surgery at Longmont United went very well and every day my back gets better and better. If I could give this office 20 ???? then I would. Amazing so far and I get to do PT right there wit the same staff.I would recommend Dr Gerlach to anyone. Amazing service and care. THANK YOU!!!

Took my pain issues seriously. Did not immediately recommend back surgery at my advanced age. I feel like I can trust him.

Was walking with zero nerve pain after surgery. This is the doctor you want!

I can't thank Dr. Gerlach, his team and staff enough for the amazing care I was given during the entire process of my Cervical Disc Replacement consult, surgery and recovery. I felt prepared every step of the way, and had many avenues to ask any questions. They contacted me immediately upon referral and were able to get me in for a consult within the week, and within a month I was ready for surgery. I am now 6weeks post -op and feel absolutely no nerve pain or prior symptoms. Thank you all for giving me my life back. Had two different discs rupture 5 years apart. When the second one went, our first call was to Dr Gerlach and his great team. Can’t recommend enough.

My wife has had two references to "Dr." Gerlach. The first, a few years back, he spoke to her like he didn't believe a single thing she was saying. This past referral was even worse, as he never bothered to schedule a visit. Three weeks later my wife had to call his office (the office staff are just as rude as he is) only to be told he had looked at her MRI and dismissed her flatly again... which is ridiculous since her back is worse off now than three years ago. Basically, if you don't have insurance that will pay him top dollar, you are trash and shouldn't bother with this doctor. My wife has had two references to "Dr." Gerlach. I had been suffering with pain and numbness in both arms since the spring of 2020. It took me a little over a year of treatments and therapies before I found Dr Gerlach and the Orthopedic Center of the Rockies. They were able to get me in quickly and I had surgery to fuse my C4-C7. When I recovered from the anesthesia my pain and numbness were gone. It’s been 5 months since surgery and my recovery has gone well. Dr Gerlach was very personable and caring to my needs during the whole process. He was very professional and his knowledge about the procedure and his straight forward discussions about the outcome about left no doubts that I was making the right decision. I went to Dr. Gerlach after having severe back pain that required a steroid injection. The injection resulted in weakness in my right leg and drop foot. Dr. Gerlach suggested surgery to fuse L4 and L5. Surgery was successful and I no longer have drop foot and have regained strength in both of my legs. Post surgery pain has been minimal. Last visit was informative and I am pleased with my recovery thus far.

Dr. Gerlach did a Lumbar fusion and decompression for me, a 5.5 hour surgery. When I awoke from the surgery I was asked "How is your pain" I replied "what pain". I did have a lot of discomfort, but that is diminishing over time as could be expected. This young man is a outstanding surgeon. I highly recommend him.

I couldn't be more pleased. On a last-minute plea for help, and as recommended by two former patients, Dr Gerlach saw me 2 days after calling (it was a 2nd opinion). Four days later I was on an operating table having a spinal cyst removed just one week before Christmas. Now another physician has been incredibly complimentary about Dr Gerlach's reputation for performing the least invasive procedure and his expertise. Dr Gerlach was empathetic, answered all questions from my husband and me professionally and had me up and walking in time for the holidays. What a relief to have someone as caring and who is considered one of the best in the area work on me.

Dr.Gerlach is very thorough. He gives wonderful explanations on what is happening with my Spine and how to fix it and how long recovery will be.

Dr. Gerlach was very helpful in relieving my pain. I have had 2 surgeries with him and he knew exactly what was wrong and how it needed to be treated.

This was my first visit with doctor Gerlach. He seems to be a good doctor. He is getting me an appointment for an MRI. He wants to make sure that I don't have a pinched nerve. He also wants to start me on exercises to strengthen my back.

Dr. Gerlach listens and responds to questions in an understandable manner. I find him to be knowledgeable and current with latest technology and advancements. Dr. Gerlach is trustworthy!

I feel like I'm on the way toward a treatment plan. Dr Gerlach seems great.

Dr Gerlach was friendly,understanding, and was very knowledgeable about my issue. He will be treating me in the future.

First of all I was impressed that I could call and ask about cancellations, and I was able to get into see Dr. Gerlach a week earlier. I brought recent images on disk and he requested an additional X-ray done in the office. He explained all about my T-11 compression fracture and gave me the good news that it would heal. Nothing needs to be done. Getting in early gave me a week’s worth of peace of mind!

He was through, explained what was going on and was pleasant to deal with. He appeared to know what was going on and gave me options to choose from. He was also understanding of the situation I was in. I liked his manner and appreciated his advice.

Doctor Gerlach is the very best doctor around. If you need something fixed in your neck, he is your man!

I saw Dr. Gerlach for a new complaint. After waiting 2 hours to see him, he spent 5 minutes with me, telling me only what I already knew about my MRI. He did not look at me while I was explaining my symptoms and he did not do a physical exam.

Dr Gerlach doesnt explain much

Never got to see the dr. Wait for almost two hrs it was very upsetting. The nurse who took me to his exam room was a snot. I won't go back. I believe if you have to wait for 2 hrs to see the dr he's to busy, and should take less patience.

Other than the wait, everyone was helpful, friendly, and professional. Gerlach was very helpful answering questions.

I had many questions for Gerlach, and he answered most of them. However, he did not have all day, and I had a few questions that did not get answered. I think he could have been more transparent with his answers! But in the end I regard him highly!!!

Had to wait a bit but on eavesdropping on other patients I learned this is a bit normal for Dr. Gerlach. Have no problem with that as I am a retired health worker and know emergencies happen. Dr. Gerlach was very pleasant and professional. He answered my questions and never made me feel rushed or like my questions were not important. While his services won't help my problem I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone else. His office staff was also very nice and helpful. I haven’t yet been to my appointment yet, but I wanted to express that though I had to wait on hold for a while until a receptionist/scheduler was able to take my call (it was the Tuesday after Labor Day so I expected a longer wait). The receptionist was very thorough, pleasant , humanly warm, and sounded as if she had a smile on her face (under her COVID-19 mask) and I understood why it took a long time to wait for my call to be answered.... it’s necessary to get all information during the call and to get information on sending records as well as having your MRI disc. I figured that Dr. Gerlach would be scheduled out until a month or two, but she surprised me by finding an opening only 6 days away, at a time that was good for me. Thankfully, because I am in debilitating pain. If this receptionist/scheduling agent is any reflection on the business, I have very good feelings about my upcoming appointment. I wish I had remembered her name! Update: I’m glad I held out for another spine surgeon who was recommended to me by several orthopedic surgeons back in Reno and Honolulu. I finally chose another surgeon because I was uncomfortable with Dr. Gerlach. He just breezed in and out and barely recognized me as a living being. Perhaps he was rushing to catch up because my appointment was certainly late... I felt like he had made the decision on what he would do with my cervical spine/neck without me being there to discuss it. The surgeon I ultimately decided upon even found a problem with another spinal disc and nerves that Dr. Gerlach, and several other doctors missed and proved it with epidural steroid injections. Dr. Gerlach was up front and honest about my condition and choices. Another Dr recommend a lengthy surgery including fusing areas of my spine. Dr Gerlach said surgery was a choice, but not in my best interest at this time. I agree. He gave several options to help and spent a reasonable amount of time explaining. Thank you.

I am Barb Roper, not John. But I am a patient of Dr Gerlach. I was apprehensive about going to the Front Range Orthopedics and Spine. It is a large, fairly new facility In Longmont, Colorado. That being said, I found it easy to schedule an appointment. It was reassuring to me when I met with Susan who evaluated my status and determined the next steps in my treatment. After that review and an MRI, I met with Dr Gerlach. He explained clearly to me what was causing my pain and what further treatment might relieve it. He was thorough and answered all of my questions. I hope I will not have to see him again but I would not hesitate a second time. I was impressed with the amount of time Dr Gerlach spent going over my condition and answering questions given that he was extremely busy. He was thorough, compassionate and made me feel at ease. If I require surgery in the future, I know that he will do a great job!

Dr.Gerlach is hands down the most amazing, kind, knowledgeable and caring Doctor I’ve seen in all my years of seeing Doctors. He cares about his patients and he’s truly a breath of fresh air, and a rarity these days in the medical field. I will never trust any other doctor for my situation. Thank you Dr. Gerlach!!!

There are doctors that say what you want to hear, and those who leave you feeling depressed. Dr Gerlach gave me realistic hope. His pragmatism allowed me to see the surgery in a different way. Maybe it would get rid of all the symptoms and maybe it wouldn't, but we would try together. The c5/6 ACDF not only fixed what we realistically hoped it would, but also miraculously took care of the other symptoms. Dr Gerlach and his team were by me every step of the way from questions and conservative treatments to surgery and beyond. My recovery is going very well and I could not be happier that I am in such good hands!

Dr. Gerlach has been very helpful to me. When I first came to him I could not walk straight he was able to provide me with information about my problem and performed the surgery that has changed my life.

I would give him zero stars if I could. I have never been so humiliated in my life! I’ve been to three different specialists and all of them including my PCP stated that my back is is in need of repair. Gerlach stated that because I am on pain medications he will not do surgery on my back. He also said that in my condition I shouldn’t take any pain medications and made me feel as if I was making it all up. I have had two back surgeries and now have spinal stenosis. I live in pain every single day and he made me feel like a drug seeker! He couldn’t get out of the exam room fast enough. I will never refer anyone to him or this practice. My spouse will never send another referral to this clinic again!

Dr. Gerlach is as good as it gets.

He's great. Fixed my back. Had L4-S1 fused which cured my radiculopathy leg pain. He's straightforward and efficient. I highly recommend Dr. Gerlach and his team.

Very friendly office. Dr. Gerlach takes time to listen and answer all questions. I had surgery in Dec. 2020 and Dr. Gerlach and the staff were wonderful and very caring.

Always professional, congenial, and “upfront” regarding patient/doctor expectations. His staff also reflects the above. My personal experience regarding my lower back surgery was that all the pain that kept me from enjoying my fun activities as well as common chores, etc. was gone immediately after being mobile enough to move around. Arthritic neck issues, Dr. Gerlach was extremely informative, non-biased, factual, and truly cares about his patients. Highly recommend.

A total waste of my time. Doctor Gerlach put in zero effort in talking with me. I drove an hour each way and waited until 11:00 when my appointment was at 10:10. He spent less than five minutes talking to me and what he did say was the most generic explanation of my MRI that anybody has ever given me. I cannot believe that people say he spends time trying to understand their problems. He is literally the most uninterested doctor I've seen in my entire life.

Rude staff, extremely long wait time. Waited over an hour and 15 minutes for my appointment. Doctor did not offer up solution for problem. Doctor did not even physically look at my issue only off the x-ray. Waste of time. Extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend. Had two appointments here and neither of them went well or offered a solution for getting better. I am not hard to please, but these two appointments were ridiculous. I consulted with Dr. Gerlach because I was having serious back pain. He did the diagnostics and came up with a definitive diagnosis. Rather than going straight to surgery as the only fix, he suggested that I try shots and physical therapy. The shots worked for a while, but in the end I opted for surgery. The surgery was performed and the back pain I had had was relieved immediately. I had surgery pain, but that dissipated over a short period of time. I had multiple progress appointments with Dr. Gerlach and his staff. They were very clear what I could do and could not do just yet. I went for my final, one year post surgery appointment with Dr. Gerlach recently and was released for all activities. The x-rays showed that I had completely healed. To this day, I have no back pain. I feel this surgery was a total success. I recommend Dr. Gerlach to anyone I know suffering from back pain.

Dr. Gerlach was super informative and clear. He listened very well and I felt he integrated my input with his methodology and I was very confident in the diagnosis and treatment.

I would staff is great

I didn't like what he told me ... but it was true ... with my age and current conditions an operation wouldn't be in my best interest especially risking poor healing. Another doc might have gone ahead with the operation and I would be the one regretting having it done. So YES I would recommend him for others.

He made me feel at ease and was very kind. Always smiling and I felt he really cared about my problem. I would definitely recommend him.

Dr. Gerlach diagnosed my problem very quickly and got me in for the surgery I needed just as quickly! I couldn't be happier with my treatment, I'm pain free and had excellent care!

I was pleased with the staff’s punctuality and professionalism. I am sure Dr. Gerlach must be a good surgeon, however, surgery would not be an option to my severe, debilitating spine issues. It would have saved us both a lot of time and frustration if the website had made it clear that Dr. Gerlach doesn’t provide any other treatments for spinal issues other than surgery.
