He's just the best. Wonderful, caring bedside manner. Awesome Physician. I'd recommend him to anyone. He repaired my rotator cuff and I honestly haven't felt much pain. Nothing like I was suffering before surgery.

Dr Smith did a great job explaining my injury, the procedure to fix my knee and what to expect post op. His staff is excellent! I would recommend them to anyone needing knee surgery.

I was very happy with my visit today. He discussed the options with me and we decided on the one to try. He has done 4 operations on me and had good results on all of them

All the staff were very kind. Dr. Smith was kind and through. He explained and answered all my questions. I did not feel rushed and I did not have much of a wait time at all.

Dr Smith is very professional and also explains so I understand also has a professional manner of listening to me

Dr. Smith is a great orthopedic.He repaired my leg after it was broke In domestic violence.He was very sincere and he did a great job.

Could not ask for a better orthopedic doctor! He has performed surgery on several of my family members including myself. I had to have rotator cuff surgery and it went so perfectly I never had any pain after the surgery, none!!! I was so thankful and I recommend him highly!!

Dr Smith has worked on me before, doing a total shoulder replacement. Couldn’t have gone any smoother. Yesterday, August 17,2020, Dr Smith performed a total knee replacement on me. Great Doctor. He has preformed three surgeries on me with 100% success. Great personality and cares for his patients.

His office staff are all professional and very sweet! Dr. Smith was very direct and to the point, but did not speak over my head.

Dr. Smith did a total right shoulder replacement on me in November of 2017. A month later my shoulder was dislocating almost daily. He didn't know what to do and more or less through his arms in the air. Now I was on my own trying to find someone to fix it. I went to surgeon after surgeon. Finally, 4 months later, I found a shoulder specialist in Birmingham. He told me the parts Dr. Smith put in were too big and shattered my bone, I had rupture tendons and this was now a difficult case. 5 surgeries later, I am still having difficulties due to what Smith did. Now, I am waiting on having all the prostedics removed and completely replaced. The bone never healed around the shaft that is inserted into the bone because it was too large. I have struggled with this for over 2 years and 6 surgeries. DO NOT SEE DR. MATTEW SMITH. I gave heard numerous other horror stories from others at physical theropy. As a surgeon he did fine. As a doctor, he's very arrogant, with no bedside manner. He used scare tactics on 70+ yr old woman who chose to go to nursing home for rehab. Trying to get her to go home and find a ride 3x week to a thearpy center, knowing she lives alone and doesn't drive. She left scared and crying. He spoke very badly about NH, to scare her into going home. Future visits she was seen by Nurse. FYI, she receive excellent care, and excellent thearpy at the NH. As a surgeon he did fine. Had shoulder surgery a few years ago and after surgery finished my therapy at Therasport in Rainsville. I haven't had another pain in my shoulder since . I could have not ask for a better doctor. He was very caring and mannered. The staff was very nice to me and I wouldn't change a thing about my experience with Dr. Smith and his nurses, in fact He will be doing a hip replacement on me shortly. I trust him fully.

Dr. Smith has absolutely NO bedside manner. He seems far more busy treating patients like crap than helping them. I really resent being told that my pain is no big deal only to find out that I had a surgical infection!!

The dr is awesome but the office staff are terrible and rude! PJ that answers the phone was so unhelpful and hateful.

Shoulder surgery 7 weeks ago-severe pain ever since. Saw Dr. Smith once since my surgery. He has since passed me off to his assistant. He does not seem to care about the sharp stabbing pain from the top of my shoulder shooting down to the tip of my fingers. Have requested several times for help with pain with no response except Dr. Smith saying "use over the counter medication" or "no" to a cortisone injection. Extremely sleep deprived & weary from the pain. I completely regret this surgery.

The facility seems clean and we'll disinfected. Our wait time was pretty quick. The staff in the back was a little up tight and rude. Dr smith himself seemed fairly nice but in a hurry.

Dr. Smith did a great job with my first shoulder surgery in 2015. Had surgery on a Friday, started therapy on Monday. There was minor discomfort, but the shoulder is like new. I am back now for my other shoulder. The front desk staff is very nice, but the staff behind those doors (nurses and physician assistants) are very rude. After surgery, you don't always get to see Dr. Smith, sadly you see his PA. I would prefer to see the person who cut into me.

Everyone says he's a great Dr. Haven't...been going long enough to know since my surgery. The long haired blonde headed girl that works there isn't very nice. Some people should learn to show a little more compassion towards the people that are paying them, but being crippled, guess they think they can treat their patients like crap.

Have had 2 shoulder surgeries here and still no relief and he seemed more concerned with not giving pain pills than anything else told me it was most likely in my head.... The popping and grinding I experience every time I raise my arm past my waist is not imaginary neither is the pain ????

Not impressed at all. Came to the facility to try and uncover the reason for the chronic back issues and would not even try to find out the reason without first completing therapy which is financially not possible. Stated that a MRI wouldn't be covered under insurance unless therapy was first completed. However my step father went to UAB and had a MRI done first to determine if therapy was then needed. Didn't seem to care and seemed to think we were there for narcotics which is absolutely.
