Dr. Michael Zeff

First off, not a huge fan of dentists. In fact, it is my worst place to visit. I wasn't happy at all about needing a root canal and dreaded this visit and let Dr. Zeff know immediately that I would rather be anywhere else. I opted for the nitrous to help me through the experience and I was in the chair for almost an hour and a half. Dr. Zeff actually took the time to explain the entire procedure to me which I definitely appreciated and I think it was one of the less painful dentist visits I have had. My first root canal and was impressed with the staff, assistants and Dr. Zeff.

Dr. Michael Zeff is a fantastic endodontist!! My visit with him in Reno wasn’t my first root canal experience in my life. So, I can compare to my previous experiences with other endodontists, and frankly, I would say that he took care of my issue just wonderfully. I have been exposed to the world of dentistry for a good while now. And if I would ever have to deal with another root canal issue, Michael Zeff would be the ONLY Doctor I would go to. He and his team are outstanding in every aspect of the practice. From my firsthand experience, I can share that Dr. Michael Zeff was VERY caring, transparent, thoughtful (explained every step of the procedure even during the actual procedure – which is important for patients to know what is happening), careful, thorough, gentle, patient, and just overall an amazing doctor with wonderful light and precise hands! I would never go to another endodontist in Reno as long as Dr. Michael Zeff is available, and I would sincerely recommend Dr. Michael Zeff to anyone! Dr. Michael Zeff is a fantastic endodontist!! My visit with him in Reno wasn’t my first root canal experience in my life. So, I can compare to my previous experiences with other endodontists, and frankly, I would say that he took care of my issue just wonderfully. I was referred to Dr. Zeff for a more complete exam for the source of a toothache. I had mentioned to both my regular dentist and Dr. Zeff that I suspected the tooth was cracked and was ignored by both. Dr. Zeff (a youngish, very tan endodontist) identified the tooth in question and recommended a root canal. When I asked about alternatives, such as an implant and full treatment of infection, Dr. Zeff bristled and was politely argumentative, stating his reasoning for the root canal--staunchly defending his clearly superior (to him) methods, as opposed to a more holistic approach. I am 72 and no stranger to dental work--it's appalling to me that Dr. Zeff would react with such rigidity to my questions.... but also very disappointed that Dr. Zeff did not have the courtesy to check further for the crack I knew was there. Obviously I was in a great deal of pain and his description of an implant would mean more pain and a much longer process to remedy the tooth ache. I decided on the root canal. So, guess what? The tooth WAS cracked and Dr. Zeff was not able to complete the root canal. Really???? After a week of recovery pain and not being able to eat....I now face several additional painful procedures, more injections, more healing and a long, arduous process--on top of the failed incomplete root canal, not to mention concern that the infection lingers, as well as an UNNECESSARY root canal because Dr. Zeff couldn't be bothered to listen to me when I said the tooth was cracked. I am old, not stupid or demented or incapable in any way! It's very unfortunate that Dr. Zeff ignored me--just because I'm a little old gray haired senior does NOT give Dr. Zeff the right to disrespect my concerns...he was not receptive to anything other than a quick, lucrative procedure for him and lots of pain for me and why? Because I'm not a dentist? Because I'm so damn old? Or maybe because he's so young and arrogant? We'd all to make $500 for an hour or so of work, disregarding all else--especially a patient's information that would have prevented a successful procedure. Disrespecting a patient's concerns and creating UNNEEDED painful dental work for patients at any age is unacceptable, irresponsible and narcissistic. Think about that, Dr. Smartypants. Try opening your mind and accepting others at face value and putting your own biases aside--you will get much farther in life. Highly recommended over any endodontist. I had a tooth emergency and they managed to get me in the same day. Not only did they get me in they arranged with other offices to get me out of pain and a steady treatment plan to fix my tooth. Within about an hour I was out of pain and on my way back to work. Dr Zeff is very gentle and considerate.

Dr. Jones is a wonderful doctor! Sadly after having a child I have had to have multiple root canals. Root canals are not the funnest thing to go through, but if you need to go to a great doctor who will get the job complete and make you feel comfortable, go see Dr. Jones.
