Dr. Stanley-Brown should, in my opinion, not be a pediatrician. I sincerely hope that if you are thinking about taking your child to her you rethink your decision, let me explain why. My son is currently 8 months old and has gone to Dr. Stanley-Brown since he was a newborn. We never really felt like Dr. Stanley-Brown showed much compassion anyway, but once we had his 6 month appointment we knew we would not be returning. At his 6 month appointment the nurses ask if we had any concerns. I told them I thought my son had a tongue-tie and that I had some developmental concerns. When Dr. Stanley-Brown came in, she asked if we had any concerns, but did not mention these things, almost like she didn’t even read the intake information. I then proceeded to mention the tongue-tie and she immediately shook her head and said no without a second thought. I kept speaking and told her multiple reasons why I thought he had one and she continued to shake her head and said no because he has gained weight. One of the biggest reasons I thought he had one was constant bottle refusal. I told her he will be starving but take the bottle then scream. Her response was “Oh, that’s weird, I don’t know why he does that.” Even though I told her I thought it was because he had a tongue tie. She didn’t even look in his mouth nor refer us anywhere to ease our concerns. At the same visit I mentioned we were concerned that he wasn’t tripod sitting, didn't reach for things, and still hadn't rolled from tummy to back. She never said a word. Once we left and looked over our after-visit summary, I realized she never made any note of the tongue-tie concern. On top of that, the summary had some major red flags about his developmental delays. At the beginning of the summary it’s a series of questions that they mark as yes/no. She marked “YES” for “Normal Development for age. Sits/Tripods, Rolls well, transfers & reaches.” Even though we told her he didn't do those things. However, later on in the after-visit summary she states “Not even tri-podding and does not roll from front to back. Consider PT referral at 9m if still not sitting.” There were obvious discrepancies in her reporting and she never mentioned a potential referral to PT at 9m. This shows that there was concern for his development, but she didn’t care to take the proper steps to get him the help he needed. She could’ve told us what to be working on or even referred us to early intervention. Because of this issue with Dr. Stanley-Brown, we went to a new pediatrician who confirmed my son’s tongue-tie and said he was at risk of falling very behind in his development and said he needed to start Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Language Therapy ASAP because he was not meeting those milestones that he should have been. Thanks to our new pediatrician our son is getting the early intervention he needs. He was also referred to a pediatric dentist, who not only confirmed his tongue-tie, but found he has a lip-tie as well. Both are class 4 ties that he said "can easily be seen from a mile away." Dr. Stanley-Brown was negligent in giving my son the care he needed. She failed to diagnose him properly, failed to relay important information to us, and refused to listen to our concerns. Who knows how far behind my son might have gotten if we had not left Dr. Stanley-Brown. Do not take your child to her. I understand some people might have a good experience, but in the end she does not genuinely care about your concerns or the well-being of your child. I have spoken with the Chief Officer of Patient Experience of Nemours and am also in the process of filing a formal complaint with the Florida Department of Health. I do not want this to happen to someone else’s child at the risk of an innocent child not getting the attention they need.

We were never really over-the-moon about Dr. Brown but liked her a decent amount until my son’s 6m appointment. We went in and told her we were concerned he might have a tongue tie. Before I could even explain the concern she said no. Then I proceeded to give multiple valid reasons for my concern and she shrugged it off and refused to even entertain the idea of a tongue tie. So I made an appointment at an ENT because I knew something wasn’t right and would you look at that he has a tongue tie! If it would’ve gone un-diagnosed my son could’ve ended up with major speech delays among other issues. Dr. Brown is very by the book and knowledgeable, but unfortunately not very personable. Every time we go in she pushes and pushes that we need to be reading to our son daily but doesn’t care to listen to our genuine concerns? Unfortunately this was our experience and we are finding a new pediatrician who will listen to us when we come in with concerns.
