Four months after the fact we receive a bill for a $500+ thumb/wrist brace that you can purchase "off the shelf" for $25-35. They billed our insurance $400+ for this brace and then decided to bill us for the difference. It is because of outrageous medical markups like this in conjunction with surprise late / bogus bills that make individuals choose to forgo medical treatment. I guess we should have asked for their price list prior to seeking medical treatment. ???? My follow up response to your dissertation: Rest assured, I was your patient and would be happy to prove it, it seems you resort to the "were not sure you're even our patient" deflection on a portion of your 1 star reviews. You never disclosed the price of the "off the shelf" brace, otherwise we would have politely declined to use it. If it makes you feel better saying that insurance sets the price for what products you offer your patients out of your office then have at it. No worries, lessons learned. I love Doctor Shuler he promised that he will do his best to fix my knee and he did i have no more pain for years I had pain because of a tear in my meniscus I recommend him to anybody that having orthopedic issues he has won me over thank you Dr Shuler ….

This was my first appointment for shoulder pain numbeness in thumb and index finger . Staff was very polite and professional and so was Dr Shuler. I have to do a test and will see him again if need be. Thank you

Dr. Schuler is wonderful. I've seen him for a hip replacement and rotator cuff repair. I feel very comfortable with him and his staff are really friendly and helpful.

he did my knee and i have been in pain. i got tired of all the lies and excuses, now 5 moths later i find out he put the wrong size plate in my leg, in the wrong place.. it is way to small and he cut the bone bad and it was not seated right, so i have to go thru this again. staff is very rude and could care less.

Husband had surgery. He was supposed to see Dr Shuler 2 weeks after surgery. It is now over 3 weeks and unable to get his office to return calls to make appointment.

They are not responsible. They were supposed to request from my P.C.P an authorization for my appointment and they did not . The E.R told me I have to see the doctor a.s.a.p . but they didn’t see me because they need the authorization They never call my P.C for the autorization and cancel my appointment . It has been more than two months since my hand surgery and he only saw me one once . Who knows when will be next visit. The staff don’t care about the patients. They committed the mistakes and we pay the price. I don’t recommend this place to anybody. Don’t let them play with your health. Outstanding care and up most professionalism from the person at the reception desk to the nurses to Dr. Shuller. Dr. Shuller is breath of fresh air who reminds me of the good old time doctors who knows you by name and is interested in more than a consultation visit. He is patient and takes his time to explain and provides you with all the possible options without making feel pressured to make any decision. My daughter, son and myself have been under Dr. Shuller's care and ALWAYS felt so well cared for. I recommend Dr. Shuller to anyone who needs an EXCELLENT doctor. Approximately 3 months after my $185/10 min consultation, I received a bill for $1791 for a "treatment." The billing person, Polly, told me that the bill was from the ER where I was referred from (not them) & the medical code for a treatment was used because the doctor looked at my x-rays. I told her several times I never received a "treatment."Polly told me that the original bill was $2800 & said something like $1000 goes to the doctor & $1791 to the ER. She just codes the visit & sends it over

Multiple surgery with no results. He banks and I am still injured. Do not use!!!

He just wants to get out of the room as quickly as possible. Was seen for a possible fracture but because the hospital uploaded the xrays incorrectly he basically sent me on my way rather than ordering more xrays. The staff however, was extremely friendly and pleasant. Dr. Schuler was also nice and wasn't rude about it, but he didn't really attempt to find out why I am unable to walk because he was so busy trying to get you out so he could take the next patient. He just wants to get out of the room as quickly as possible. I recently attended a presentation that Dr. Schuler was hosting, about knee pain/arthritis. He explained in great detail common injuries, options for surgery and preventative measures. I was very impressed with his presentation, especially how he graciously answered everyone’s questions. Dr. Shuler and his staff are caring and professional! My wife had crushed one of her vertebra and was extreme pain. He came to our home after hours the same day to visit her. He was able to prescribe some medicines that were able to bring relief. He also followed up with her during the weekend to see how she was doing and made some adjustments to her medications. Lastly, Dr. Shuler was totally engaged to work with my wife to explore all the options to bring relief and restoration. He is wonderful! Dr. Shuler and his staff are caring and professional! Dr. Shuler and his staff have been amazing, I was recomended to him after suffering an Achilles’ tendon rupture. After seeing him he promptly offered to perform the surgery the following day. My surgery was flawless and I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. All of my follow up appointments have gone smooth and quick. I can’t wait to finally walk again after this injury and couldn’t be more Thankful for the excellent care and attention that Dr. Shuler and his staff have provided to me. They are all great people who just want to help others through unfortunate circumstances. I would without any doubt or question recommend him to anyone who asked me. I have visited at least 4 orthopedic surgeons throughout my life of 77 years. Dr. Schuler has been by far the best. He is thorough, listens and explained what at least two courses of action available. He took the time and was very knowledgeable. Got a quick appointment time. He is now my go to Dr. as I get older.

Has a woman working there answering phones that might be able to speak 2 words of coherent English. Absolutely horrible. This isn't Puerto Rico, we speak English! Staff is very unorganized- go elsewhere !

I was referred to Dr. Shuler by my Aunt and Uncle. They highly recommended him as they have their own success stories from their individual surgeries. I was in an ATV accident on October 29, 2016. I broke the two lower bones (Ulna and Radius) in my left arm. I had never been in an accident and have been very fortunate health-wise. Therefore, I decided to take a gamble with health insurance. I made too much money to qualify for Obama Care and didn’t make enough to pay for an individual plan. Since I usually go to a doctor maybe once a year, it was cheaper for me to pay the penalty for not having insurance. Because I didn’t have insurance, several Orthopedics denied me patient care. I was a financial gamble and I get it. Doctors have an overhead to pay too. Luckily, my Aunt and Uncle referred me to Dr. Shuler. He was willing to work with me regarding the financials and genuinely cared about my well-being. It was obvious he was actually a doctor that didn’t have the corporate mentality and really wants to help people. Pam, in his office, went above and beyond to try to coordinate payments plans for the surgery, surgery center and anesthesia. She understood the situation I was in and I really felt like she treated me as a family member, not a patient. My boyfriend and I were able to take out a loan to pay for the surgery. On November 8, 2016, what was anticipated to be a one hour, easy surgery became a two hour, complicated surgery. Since I was previously denied patient care, it was ten days from my accident date to the surgery date. Dr. Shuler discovered that since time had passed since October 29, 2016, my Radius bone had worked its way through my arm and created a hole. A hole that might not have been there if I received care sooner. My muscles and nerves were mangled around my bone causing severe nerve damage. After the surgery, my recovery was going well with the help of Dr. Shuler, my family and boyfriend. Dr. Shuler referred me to Ability Rehabilitation for physical therapy. I quickly learned that this place shared the same mentality as Dr. Shuler and truly cared about helping people in need. Some days were tough but I trusted the therapists to push me to tolerable stretches and exercises. On January 13, 2017, I began working again with the full ability to type, turn door knobs, carry files, etc. I had come a long way from my hand originally looking like a lobster claw and having none of the above abilities after the accident. On February 4, 2017, I went fishing for the first time in months (my favorite hobby to do with my boyfriend and friends). I caught the first fish on board and caught the most fish by the end of the day. The simple things we take for granted in life. Turning a door knob, shaking someone’s hand, washing dishes (which I didn’t miss), the ability to wash our hair on our own and casting out a fishing line. If Dr. Shuler didn’t take a chance on me, knowing I had no insurance, I don’t know how much longer it would have been until I could get the proper care. I don’t know when I would have been able to get back to my life and doing the things I love. I owe him and his staff the world. I would highly recommend Dr. Shuler as an Orthopedic for several reasons: he is an excellent surgeon – my arm was a mess and now it’s fully healed and functioning almost exactly as it was before the accident; he is trustworthy in his referrals for physical therapy (Ability Rehabilitation helped me so much that my range of motion was better than Dr. Shuler expected it to be three months post- surgery; and he truly cares about his patients well-being. I consulted Dr. Shuler on my hip. I was very impressed by his expertise, honesty and kindness. He was very thorough about my options for my hip and I highly recommend him.
