Dr. Ramesh Narayan Ashwath

Reviews don’t lie. Look at them before going to this facility. Made an appointment on a day off to see this Dr. arrived at office to find about 20 people waiting. They are not professional and god forbid they call you to tell you that they cannot accommodate you. The receptionist lacks any and all empathy…she should not be working with the public, but rather stay in a cubicle at a call center. Run don’t walk away from this place! They have no etiquette and going there is a waste of time.

Dr. Ashwath is splendid. He is always courteous, professional and insightful. The office staff is very accommodating and cheerful.

Dr. Ashwath might be a good doctor, but the service offered by Bay Area Advanced Gastroenterology is very disappointing and terrible. There has never ever been any follow-up to check on the patient's well-being after a procedure. If the patient tries to setup a follow-up instead, never gets any call back or timely response. I had a procedure done on Jan 16th, 2023, by Dr. Ashwath, been having complications since the procedure was done. To make sure there is nothing serious going on and to get some advice to handle this complication, have called multiple times to talk to the nurse or get advice from the doctor, with no response till date. After constant running around for last 2-weeks, finally I was given a tele-appointment for 4:15pm for today (2/07/2023). The lady who set the appointment, collected the service changers promptly ahead of time, its 5:20pm, MORE THN HOUR PAST SINCE THE APPOINTMENT TIME, here I am sitting by the phone, waiting to be called. Why it's always having to be the patients that gets dinged - if we run late or miss our appointment, aren't we are charged a penalty? What if the doctor or the practice miss the appointment given to the patient, make the patient wait with no show from the doctor + with no timely communication justifying the no-show, will we be refunded the advance? or can we not demand a refund and collect a penalty from the doctor's office for wait/no-show? It's really frustrating... I will never recommend this practice to anyone even though the doctor seems to be nice. NEVER EVER.

I was referred to Dr Ashwath from my primary doctor and I'm do glad he referred him because this doctor is great, he is very knowledgeable, has great bed side manors, takes his time and listens to your concerns and does not rush you and he doesn't seemed rushed for time like most doctors, I also love the fact he does thorough testing to make sure everything is good and to ensure proper diagnosis. I highly recommend him to anyone needing a Gastroenttrologist.

Dr. Ashwath is very knowledgeable and professional. I had a Tele doctor visit for a check up for medication. He was very thorough and took time to explain my medication and side effects. I would highly recommend this doctor!

Dr. Ashwath is very good at what he does. The office workers are very nice and helpful.

Dr. Ashwath provided outstanding health care to me. He listened to my concerns diagnosed my issues and proceeded with appropriate medical attention. He immediately gained my confidence when he was honest about my health issues and developed a treatment plan that has been successful to date. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

It was very at ease and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Doctor Ashwath is always professional and takes the time to listen to your situation. He seems to really care about his patients. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a gastroenterologist.

This was my first visit and was impressed that Doctor Ashwath was not quick to prescribe pills. But informed me that further testing needed to be done so that he could address the proper issue. I have him a 4 because this was my first visit and we only discussed my issues and what the first step would be.

Great visit today, listened to my symptoms, scheduled lab tests and will work with his office staff to schedule a procedure

I went to this doctor for an Abdominal pain. He recommended ultrasound, endoscopy and blood tests. They never called me back after they received the results and had responded to my called for results as I am going thru the pain. One day I got severe pain, throwing up I begged for a visit, he did a video consult and said I have gallbladder stone and recommended to find a surgeon and get it removed. I developed fever the next day so I felt it more or less useless to talk to him so went to St Joseph’s ER, they told me my gallbladder badly infected which lead to heavy inflammation and it needs to be removed immediately. I was told that it has been going on for a while (3-6months). He failed to identify the inflammation. This could’ve lead to pancreatitis. I came to know from my friend he had the similar experience and he went to a different doctor. I don’t know how he allowed to practice if he doesn’t know gallbladder inflammation.

I like Dr. Ashwath very much. He listens and explains things so that they're understandable. If it were just him I was reviewing, I'd give him 4-5 stars. However, his office staff is a mess. Every single time I need to talk to them it turns into an exercise in futility. The people who answer the phones can't wait to transfer you to someone else, often someone who does not answer the phone, get their voice mails, or return calls. It has taken literally 2-3 weeks to get answers from them on medications and other important topics. Virtual visits are a joke as they wait until after your allocated time to call for check in, then if you have to call them back for anything you get voice mail again. Very annoying.

UPDATE: Zero complaints about Dr. Ashwath but took away two stars for the difficulty I've had getting the staff to respond to my important requests regarding medication and lab work. I have spoken to them 4 times (once in person after my visit, once via phone where I got no answers and was transferred to someone else who was not available, and left two voice mails that were not returned) and it's going on 2 weeks now. Everyone that I met at this practice is professional and friendly. I immediately felt at ease with Doctor and his staff.

The best doctor. From the staff to the Dr.very professional yet friendly and relaxed. Dr Ashwarth and his Nurse practitioner are so amazing and knowledgeable. They will dig until they find an answer for issues. I’ve been a patient fir years and extremely happy.

Dr. ashwath did an EGD and a colonoscopy on me and he was excellent! Great bedside manner listen to everything I told him and gave me an explanation of the procedures and then the results of both procedures!

Staff doesn't seem to know Practice procedures. Been given the runaround about the Colon test for over a month. Had an Endoscopy at the Brandon Surgery Center (which he has a financial interest in) and we waited more than an hour for him to visit us in recovery to discuss his findings and he never came. The reason for my visit was to have a follow up colonoscopy. Dr Ashwath took the time to understand the situation and the complete process was handled in a most professional manor. I was impressed that all details of the procedure were explained to me. Very well done.

Making an appointment for my ten year colonoscopy was as simple as making a phone call. My visit with Dr Ashwath was very pleasant. He was patient with this 80 year old hard of hearing man. We covered all of my concerns in detail. I felt very comfortable with my upcoming medical experience.

This doctor could care less about your time. He may be a wonderful doctor, but he is stuck on himself. I have experienced how he treats his patients and their loved ones during colonoscopies he performs at Brandon Surgery Center. The first time he was over 3 hours late. His office nor the surgical center bothered to call anyone to let them know he was 3 HOURS LATE! Due to COVID-19, visitors are not allowed to sit in the waiting area of the surgical center. Instead they must sit in their vehicle in 90+ degree Florida heat. This wouldn’t be so bad, if it were for an hour but 5 HOURS? SERIOUSLY? Today we arrived for another colonoscopy at Brandon Surgical Center at 830 as we were instructed to do. Again due to COVID no visitors are allowed in the waiting room. We were told he was next so the wait wouldn’t be long. At 11am I called to make sure everything was ok. I was told that my partner was just wheeled back for the procedure and it would be about an hour and a half more wait. When I inquired why a 9am procedure was just starting, I was told Dr Ashwath came in a few hour late today. If we as a patient just decided to come in a few hours late, our appointment would be canceled and we would be charged a no show fee for doing so. This shows me that Dr Ashwath could care less about his patients, or the fact this someone is sitting outside in 90 degree heat due to his not coming in on time. I went to the wrong address at first and the front desk lady was polite and told me the way. She said it happens a lot and she wishes the buildings would have different numbers for Kylewood then the ones on Nikki. Upon entering I noticed The facility was clean and I was greeted right away- which is a huge plus. After filling out paperwork I waited quite a while to be called back. Once I was called back, I was greeted by Maria and she was a delight. Very helpful and compassionate - I believe she chose the right field. When Dr. Aswath entered the room, he made me feel at ease immediately- he is knowledgeable, polite, and I knew right away I wanted him to be my Gastroenterologist. He examined and explained what his findings were. I left the room feeling knowledgeable. I’m not sure if the check out girl is new or what. But there was a bit of confusion at check out as to where to send my prescription. However, she was friendly and did her best to accommodate so that is enough for me.
