Dr. Houghton is AWESOME! I'm a naturally curious person and he was able to answer my questions, and didn't get irritated or seem offended like some medical professionals. It didn't hurt that he was able to correct my vision to 20/15 with eyeglasses either. He even showed me the 20/10 line when I requested out of curiosity, and no, I couldn't read the letters! Also, you don't have to buy your contacts or glasses there if you don't want to. I'd highly recommended getting your prescription there, especially if you're looking for contacts that correct astigmatism. Upon exam, he can easily explain if you're a good candidate for disposable soft contact lenses for astigmatism (also called toric lenses), or if you would benefit from specialty soft lenses, or hard contacts. I happen to not be a great candidate for soft contact toric lenses because the axis of my astigmatism doesn't match up with any of the standard sizes. The location of my astigmatism, which is referred to as the axis, and is a measure between 0 - 180 degrees, was inbetween standard sizes, which typically come in axis intervals of 10 degrees (i.e. my astigmatism was at 6 degrees, and the 10 degree lens doesn't match up that well, while the 0 degree would have been worse). Dr. Houghton can order and fit specialty soft contacts, which come in 5 degree intervals, or there are always the hard contacts that can be made to the nearest degree. He doesn't sell any of the glasses or contacts, or make commissions (yes, I actually asked). Just a dedicated professional who provides excellent service at a fair price. Dr. Houghton is AWESOME! An incredible experience. He uses technology that analyzes and recommends a appropriate eye prescription, and then uses his professional expertise to tweak that. I walked in needing my eyes checked and walked out with 15/20 eyesight (15/20 is BETTER than 20/20). You know how your get your eyes dilated to check the deep eye structure. Dr. H does it without the blurring of your vision . . . again with technology and expertise. AND it is all done quickly and with warmth. Great experience. An incredible experience.
