Dr. Robert S Gilbert

Dr. Gilbert has taken exceptional care of me through a three-week illness. He called me personally twice to follow-up with me during that time. He does not rush though an office visit because he wants all the details before he treats you. His staff is great and very helpful.

Friendly medical practice that seem to care. Glad that I was able to find Dr. Bob. He and his team explained everything throughly- was very quick to get in to get seen.

Terrible bedside manner and unprofessional. I’ve been his patient for years because he is quick with referrals and one of the closest primary care physicians to where I live. Upon my visits, my appointment is always rushed and my questions are never really answered. His jokes are sarcastic and rude every visit. During my Iast visit, I was insulted by Dr Bob. I am a medical assistant for a podiatrist. He told a few sarcastic jokes that were not funny since he was very disgusted. Very quick to judge when he does not try to get to know his patients. He sees you for 5 minutes max. Im working for clinical hours before I apply for medical school and was going to ask to shadow him. Well, I do not want to learn from such a rude, unprofessional doctor. My mother was also one of his patients and thought he was prideful and disrespectful with her.

I just called and talked to Michelle because I think I have early signs of breast cancer and I wasn't sure what type of doctor that I needed to call. I was told that a pcp or gynecologist would be able to help. (I don't have either). I told her that this location and doctor were closest to my location and I wasn't sure which kind of doctor I needed. She told me I needed a gynecologist, but I told her that I read that a primary care physician could take a look as well. Then she told yes have your pcp take care and look at this. I told her that I don't have pcp and this is why I'm calling. Then she went back to saying I that I would just need to go to a gynecologist. "The doctor does do everything." But they don't have a mammogram machine and would have to refer me out to someone else anyway.. But I thought It was also normal for a physician to take a initial look and then if they notice that something's wrong then they can give me the referral to the specialist that I need. But to Michelle's defense it was about 10mins to 1pm so I should have bothered her with a appointment request so close to her lunch break. Disgusting. I have been seeing Dr Bob for both pain management and as my general practitioner for over 3 years. He always listens, doesn’t talk down to me and ensures I understand everything. He is very thorough and professional-a great physician all around. His staff is great too—I saw an earlier mention of staff turnover and have to say that the employees who are no longer there didn’t need to be there.

I have never left a review on anything but I had to on my experience. Came in as they were closing with a broken finger and needed multiple stitches. Not only did they help me, they stayed and were the best staff I`ve ever been involved with. I also was from Huntsville and not local. I love Dr. Bob he is straight forward and always takes an xray if i say its my sinus or lungs to make sure he diagnoses me correctly and not just give me meds for infection i don't have like some Doctors. When we are done he always asks if there is anything else i'm having issues with and if i don't feel better in a couple of days come back and he will do further testing. I hate that some reviews say he doesn't listen because nor I or my husband have had those issues with him or his staff.

Extremely personable, knowledgeable and professional.

I absolutely love all the staff as they are always very sweet and are very quick to get me back and in a room. Doctor Gilbert is always very attentive and has been our family doctor for 11 years

Dr. Gilbert tells it like it is. I think some people on this site may have left bad reviews because they have a hard time hearing the truth about their health, but the truth is exactly what one needs as a patient, and Dr. Gilbert is not shy about explaining it. He is also sympathetic, understanding, and easy to talk to. All of his staff I've dealt with are very courteous and kind folks, as well.

Fine staff and Dr. Gilbert never rushes you out. He always takes time for all your questions.

Dr. Gilbert is amazing. He goes above and beyond and listens to ALL YOUR CONCERNS. He sits down and communicates with you like a real human being who cares. It is refreshing. I will never see another doctor again, other than him!

Dr. Bob treats my whole family and we wear him out. Still he is extremely thorough and wise. He will send you out for tests if you need them and he gets to the bottom of our health issues. He won’t just write you an antibiotic and send you on your way. We love his staff also.

I was skeptical seeing reviews about “ bedside manner” but he’s awesome! He knows his stuff.

We have been seeing Dr. Bob since moving to Alabama and have always been seen in a timely manner. Treated with the utmost respect had all questions thoroughly answered in a professional manner. Having lived all over the world I can state that in my opinion Dr. Bob is among the best I have ever dealt with. Would highly recommend his clinic to anyone.

I feel rushed out of the office upon visits. The doctor is prideful & doesn’t wish to be wrong about a diagnosis... so he doesn’t give one. Instead, he likes to outsource for tests and lab results. Understandable, but the office can receive my lab results and NOT call me with an update the next day. I call 3-4 times, only to speak with a receptionist each time & now they’re closed for the weekend. No meds prescribed; no advice given; but I paid for a visit & for lab results. I’m still in pain.

Great doctor very professional and caring

Dr Gilbert is best doctor I've have seen he has found and helped with every issue me and my family has had would recommend him to any one and I have.

Always has an opening to fit mine and my family's chaotic schedule. He's a down to earth guy and doesn't misled you like most doctors. Highly recommend him if you are tired of AFC and waiting for 5 hrs and being billed 2 years later! We've never had any issue with Dr. Bob or his staff. Always pleasant environment!

My family and I love him, he doesn't pacify you or talk down to you, but tells you straight up facts. He has been our family physician for more then 4 years, and knows my family's medical history well. My opinion however, is that he has gotten so many more patients since he became our PCP, I think he needs another physician or PA to assist him as, although rarely, a few things have slipped by and we would have to call to remind the office of an appointment or prescription situation. He's great!

Dr. Gilbert has always been great to me. Always asks questions on how I'm doing and any concerns I may have. Was able to figure out I had gallbladder issues when other doctors could not. He is my primary care doctor and appreciate him.

Great Caring Physician!

Dr Gilbert understands Veterans. He was able to do what 20 other doctors couldnt. No long wait times either. Highly recommended for anyone but especially vets.

Dr. Gilbert is extremely knowledgeable about the field of medicine and seems to genuinely want his patients to recover and/or stay well. His dedication to the medical field is unmatched and quite difficult to find elsewhere. Nonetheless, he converses with his patients as if they are capable of understanding the procedures rather than taking a condescending approach to patients that is all too common in areas that require extensive education and higher realms of thinking.

I went for primary care and I felt rushed, Dr. Bob did not take the time to listen or even to tell me that he was referring me out for testing. Instead, I got a phone call from a lab trying to schedule. He might be better for urgent care needs, except that when I tried to go by his office on 2 occasions, they were closed when they were supposed to be open (posted office hours). So you might be wasting your time if you go for urgent care-- choose a clinic that's really open instead
