On my first visit, I overheard the doctor screaming like an enraged lunatic down the hall before he came in to see me. On my second visit with him, he told me my concerns were "stupid" and stormed out when I tried to ask him a question. On looking at a summary of my visit which the receptionist gave me, I saw a new diagnosis added which none of his staff or he bothered to mention to me. I'm in the market for a new cardiologist.

My dad had Dr Sweeney for many years. Last January he had his 6 month visit and mentioned his problems breathing. There was fluid around his heart. Nothing done, next appointment set for September. Same problem but Dr Sweeney had consulted with a Surgeon from Comanchee and decided they need to operate and remove the fluid. Explanation for not doing it in January was “I thought it would resolve itself”! Took him off Xarelto for 3 days and they proceeded with the Pericardiocentesis Procedure. During the procedure there was a complication causing bleeding to be coming from the tube. After this procedure he was so sedated that he didn’t wake for 24 hours. I met Dr. Sweeney that evening and his response was well he is 90 after all. He had an IV that had been placed incorrectly and his arm had blown up in size to the point that when it was finally noticed more than 24 hours after surgery the nurses were saying “did you see his arm”? It’s huge! I was in the gall, they had no idea who I was and didn’t seem to mind who they talked about. So many issues and lack of care. Depraved indifference! Do no harm was not a concern! Dr Sweeney is a very good doctor, but his nurse is a different story. After having a medical emergency and told to follow up with the cardiologist , the nurse was extremely rude, refused to try working me in, and told me to wait until January or my scheduled February appointment. Basically told me I was stupid for not going to the emergency room after being visited by first responders who put that decision in my hands during an emergency situation. This physician is very arrogant and belittling. Very poor bedside manor treats hospital staff as inferior.

Dr. Sweeny is really honest and straight forward. He doesn't belittle you for smoking, but he will strongly encourage you to quit. I had a heart attack in 2009. He was the Cardiologist in the ER. I am grateful he was there.
