Dr. Scott Alan Wingerter

I am very happy with Dr Wingerter and his team. I can’t say anything negative about them. I had the best experience ever at KCOA. He was very thorough with his explanations and the choices I had. My scar looks great and I’m recovering well. Dr Wingerter and his team are awesome!

Everyone is friendly and professional

I'm a physician and I can tell you Dr. Wintgerer is the best. I fly from Oregon to see him and would only trust my care and my family's care to him and KCOA.

I was very displeased with the attitude from this clinic, both NP and Dr. Wingerter. The NP was quick to come in with her own assessment, did not spend time asking any questions. She was very quick to say it's not pain from my hip but my back, when I started asking what would cause this and how to prevent pain from future, she acted annoyed and quickly left to get the doctor. When the doctor came in, it was very apparent he was already upset/frustrated, not sure why. He said the issue was my back, again not listening to any questions I had.. He said due to me having bad insurance with United Healthcare, already knew I would need to perform PT. Well, after four weeks of PT, still having pain. From my first visit with PT they were able to say within the first 15 minutes the issue was not my back, but my hip like I stated to the NP and doctor when seen. Overall, I left the initial appointment feeling overwhelming disappointment, unheard and like my pain was dismissed. I would not recommend this NP or physician to anyone looking for relief.

Very professional and friendly staff. Dr Wingerter explains in detail and puts the patient at ease. Looking forward to getting procedure behind me.

Dr Wingerter was great on doing two total knee replacements for me at the same time. After 1 year since surgery, I am pretty much back to normal. The scars are nearly invisible. I still have some stiffness in my knees and getting down on my hands and knees is uncomfortable. But all in all, I feel pretty good.

Dr. Wingerter and staff answered all my questions and was able to schedule surgery

I had a mini posterior L hip replacement at age 57 by Dr Wingerter. Noticed in certain positions it felt like it was coming out of the socket and make a big popping noise when the muscle came across the joint. All wrong! Found out (by other surgeon) that the hip was misplaced by 45 degrees! Apparently the pre surgery x-rays were not taken into consideration? Who knows, but there was a study done (prior to my surgery) suggesting that a significant number were placed incorrectly in pts w/ a good amount of collagen in their skin (younger pts- inability to see full playing field ). I did not know about at time of surgery, but gather that info wasn't taken into consideration in my case . Food for thought if you are < 70yrs and doing a mini posterior hip replacement approach. I think Dr Wingerter is absolutely the best doctor for knee replacement. The scan ahead of surgery and the robotic surgery makes the knee fit perfectly. His protocol after surgery includes a ROM Tech bike, which is delivered to your home, and lots of stretching and strengthening exercises. I was able to walk normally in 2 weeks.

Six minutes on computer phone system to schedule an appointment then spoke to someone who would relay my information to a scheduler who had no called back 5 1/2 hours later. I am a patient. Frustrating!

The x-ray tech was friendly and professional. The NP was quick and polite. Dr. Wingerter and his student were polite and efficient. Everything was fine until I heard the staff outside of my patient room talking and joking about a separate issue that I was having which showed up on my mri results. An issue that has been preventing me from having another child. So, as a patient it was incredibly hurtful and infuriating. The staff and Dr. Scott are very friendly and helpful with all my questions and needs. I don’t feel like just a number I am treated personally by each member.

Friendly efficient staff. Dr. Wingerter is patient and thorough. He answers and manages patients misgivings.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Wingerter. I had previously had a steroid shot to my concerned knee and will need to wait an additional 2 weeks per Dr. Wingerter (per current insurance) before we proceed. To reduce inflammation Dr. Wingerter mentioned the use of turmeric (1000mg with pepper) as and anti inflammatory in place of other options. That clients have indicated positive results using turmeric with inflammation and not upsetting stomach. I’ve tried it with great success with other issues that I have; some with the knee. My knee is still of issue and will need to reschedule a follow up appointment to proceed with treatment. At this point in time I cannot provide a more accurate assessment. Great surgical results with very low pain that was easily handled with Tylenol. Staff well trained & responsive. On site PT was outstanding. Even the food was great!

Dr. Wingerter is very professional, kind and explains everything in detail. He talked about options and really listened intently to my concerns. We had a plan on how and what we were going to do to help my knee.

Been going to Dr. Wingerter since 2010 - cortisone, PRP shots, meniscus surgery, helping me get by!! Eventually knee replacement - but making what God gave me go for as long as possible!

Best place to have any type of orthopedic work done! The nurses were amazing...and I loved the consistency of knowing they would be there for all 3 days. Same with physical therapy.

I am very pleased with my knee surgery and hospital care done this June. The entire staff was extremely helpful and available whenever there were any questions. It is amazing how quickly one can begin to be mobile again and look forward to being relieved of longtime knee pain.

I really liked him and his staff. They were all friendly and respectful. I liked the fact that instead of just giving me a shot to kill the pain he suggested I do physical therapy instead. I will be returning to him for any further issues!

Dr. Wingerter did a knee replacement and 8 weeks out its doing great! Dr. Wingerter did an amazing job! I'm planning on getting my other knee replaced this year.

Probably about the best first time health appointment ever! They were obeying all safety precautions for Covid. Paperwork was done in advance so I didn't have to deal with that when I got there. Got into see the Doctor before my scheduled time. Was in and out in nowtime and Dr Wingerter was very professional and solved my problem. I suffered hip hip pain for six or seven years. Say some great reviews on Dr Scott Wingerter so set up an appointment. Dr Wingerter has a confident demeanor the makes you feel comfortable from the onset. My total hip replacement went perfect, the surgical staff as well as recovery staff were professional and accommodating. It has been almost eight week now an I am walking almost a mile and I am 75 years old. Most important aspect of the surgery is that I had basically no pain, Took Tramadol in the hospital and first two days at home then stopped and have been on aspirin twice a day since, now only when needed. I can't thank "Dr Scott" enough for his professional expertise that made my surgery a success. I will definitely be back when it is time for my right hip to be taken care of. Had hip replacement surgery with Dr. Wingerter. Pleased with my experience from start to finish. Dr. Wingerter and his staff were very thorough and informative before, day of, and after the surgery.

The fact that I just completed (6/10/19) my fourth joint replacement with Dr. Wingerter in approximately five years should speak for itself. He has replaced both of my knees and both of my hips. I have had no problems with any of the surgeries nor rehab following surgery. I have recommended him to a number of my friends who have had problems with joint replacements performed by other surgeons. Dr Wingerter operated on my hip, and did a wonderful job. I went from being in constant pain, and now being 13 weeks out- no pain at all. I can run again, move without pain, and sleep! Very happy with my results.

Love Dr Wingerter. He takes the time to listen to your concern/problems and gives answers that are easy to understand. Not so fond of his PA. My initial meeting with Dr. Wingerter and his staff went very well. I was pleased with the information he gave me on the results of my knee xrays as well as the pending knee replacement surgery. He was very helpful in what to expect before, during and after surgery. The follow up phone calls with the pre surgery questions were quite helpful as well in regards to making sure I know what to do leading up to and during my stay at the clinic after the surgery. Dr. Wingerter did an excellent job replacing my right knee. Very impressed with his staff and the folks at the Kansas City Orthopedic Institute in Leawood. This is my fourth knee surgery but the first at KCOI. These professionals are the best! Would recommend them to everyone.

I have complete trust with Dr Wingerter and the entire group to take care of any issues with my health related issues. He is very thorough and when discussing every option and outcome! Very lucky to have a Doctor that is invested in his patients.
