I have a chronic wrist injury which Dr McMurtry quickly diagnosed and expertly treated allowing me to quickly return to work and get back to my exercise routine!

I will give this doctor's office a less than acceptable review based on his completely rude and disagreeable, buck passing staff. The Receptionist I spoke to first acted as if my call was unimportant and her only advice on the situation was to refer me to her office manager who called me back after hours and made me so angry i swore at her. Said manager got all up in arms and I hung up. If she hadn't frustrated me so badly I wouldn't have lost my temper. I'm pretty sure that the doc himself may be a stellar guy, but I was not allowed to speak to him as I requested. Maybe he could have given me some advice as to how to treat this injury until I could find a doctor willing to help If he reads this maybe he will give me a call and be able to save his office's reputation. He IS listed with amerigroup as taking new patients currently. Up until 3 months ago, I ran a medical office for 17 years and still would be except the doctor passed away. I was taught to work with the patient to seek a reasonable solution, not just tell the patient to go call amerigroup and have them renoved from their provider list. Manager lady said they are part of the Texas Health Group and are not taking amerigroup patients right now. I have an injured 13 year old who needs a referral to PT based on an urgent care visit. Apparently urgent care centers are not allowed to do referrals. I wanted to speak to the doctor, so I could at least get a verbal idea of how to treat this kids injuries until I can find a doc. Nope, I got a holier than thou, overtaking, me in charge you not, nasty attituded moouthpiece who probably thinks she's better than someone relying on medicaid. Got news for you doc... Never got to even talk to the doc about my grandson's shoulder and knee injuury as his office staff were more concerned about telling me they don't accept medicaid and being very holier than thou about it. The doctor needs to understand that his staff just lost him a pair of patients. If he wants to talk about it, his staff bullies have my number. Erin Steinberg

Dr McCurty and his office staff have the worst medical practice I have ever known. He wouldn’t refill my cholesterol medication because I owe d another doctor money that isn’t even in his practice. You don’t do patients that way. I would not recommend him to anyone. My husband will no longer be going to him either. Stay far away!!!!!

I have been with Dr. McMurtry for several years. All had been fine until. 1. He lost Lauren his PA. 2. He moved offices. 3. Lost much or all his employees. I have been trying to get treatment for an issue that keeps me from working, sleeping, or living in general at a fraction of what I should be for months. They blame everyone else. But the common thing is them. I am being forced to change Dr's and start the process over. It is a shame that a practice can collapse so quickly. It had been 3 months trying to get treatment of injections in my neck and spine. My right are is tingling and painful all the time. This is not acceptable. Let me preface this by saying that this one star is in no way towards Dr. McMurtry. When you can get scheduled to see Dr. McMurtry, he is great. But today my wife had an appointment and one of his CNA’s (Rosemary) crossed a line. Rosemary called my wife while she waited in her car and was asking her a multitude of questions pertaining to COVID. My wife informed her that she had been asked these questions the day before to which Rosemary very rudely said; “That was yesterday and this is today.” When my wife proceeded to go into the office, she was met by Rosemary who was still not being very kind or personable when she got my wife into her room and was proceeding to ask her more questions. My wife felt her behavior was rude and she expressed to her that she was rude to her on the phone and she was still continuing that behavior with her in the office. Rosemary then proceeds to slam shut her computer, walk out of the room my wife was in, slam the door shut, and proceed down the hallway saying; I am completely done with her. I am completely done with, and says my wife’s first and last name outloud in the hallway where multiple patients were in their rooms being seen or waiting to be seen. She said this loud enough for my wife to hear it and my wife proceeded to walk out of her room and demanded to speak with the manager. The manager met with her (my wife) back in her room and while she did say she was sorry, she never once said that Rosemary’s behavior was unacceptable or anything. After continuing their conversation (which let me remind my wife was sick and at the office because she was not feeling well) Marie (manager) expresses that she would talk with Rosemary and that maybe she (Rosemary) was just stressed or had something going on in her personal life that made her react the way she did, almost seeming as if she was trying to excuse her behavior or make my wife feel like she needed to be understanding to the CNA’s feelings. My point to typing all of this and leaving this review is that Rosemary violated a HIPPA Privacy Law by stating my wife’s name out loud for others to hear the way she did. She made my sick wife feel very uncomfortable and when you are working with the public (especially patient’s that are not feeling well) when you are having a bad day of your own, you unfortunately have to put on a facade and act nicely even when you don’t feel like it. You cannot act the way Rosemary did. My wife called back up to the office and spoke to Marie (manager) and expressed that after thinking on it awhile that she didn’t feel good about the encounter and that she would be filing a complaint with the Medical Board of Texas against the office due to Rosemary’s behavior. Which Marie (manager) stated that she spoke with Rosemary and Rosemary stated she did not say my wife’s name out loud in the office like that and denied it. If Rosemary would’ve shown any remorse for violating my wife’s privacy that way or if Marie would’ve acted like she was taking the situation more seriously, or possibly if my wife would’ve received a call from Dr. McMurtry himself regarding the incident, it most likely wouldn’t have escalated to the point that it has. It’s very unfortunate that an employee could essentially tarnish an office’s reputation and make people second guess seeking care from their office. My wife also asked Marie (manager) to provide her with Rosemary’s information so she could file a complaint and was never given any written information with her full name and badge number for her to file a complaint against her CNA license. My wife was told by Marie that Rosemary had no badge or identification number which CNA’s are given some sort of number for their licenses in order for their license to be able to be located. This review is not towards Dr.McMurtry, Only his Pa. I went to them not once but several times for right side rib pain,short of breath and dizziness along with many other symptoms. Months went by with these symptoms until i chose to go to the er only to find my gallbladder was bad. I spent lots of money from time off work to the co pays. I recommend only going here if you see someone different than the pa Lauren I believe. I will not be back and currently looking for a new doctor. This review is not towards Dr.McMurtry, Only his Pa. DR. McMurtry at one times was the Ortho Preferred Dr for Independence High School and my daughter had to be seen and loved the experience and Dr. patient relationship she has. I switched our family to the practice as we can see him if we are sick or for Ortho purposes.

Dr. McMurtry's office refuses to communicate via technology. Dr. McMurtry's office refuses to provide refill prescription on needed and non-addictive medication (inhaler).

Treats me like a capable adult who can understand medical information. Is genuinely interested in me as a person, not just a medical project to complete.

Very rude receptionist. They lost a family today. We will be finding a new doctor! Office manager was very nice, once I could get the receptionist to stop running her mouth long enough to put me on hold to get the manager!

You're always going to get great care at Dr. McMurtry's office. The ladies up front are super nice and very helpful. He is the only doctor practicing there, so your wait may be longer than you expect. But I've never felt like the staff was trying to rush me. My wife and I both use and like Dr. McMurtry. We've moved to McKinney recently and he was recommended to us by friends. He has a very warm manner and shows sincere interest in our health. We feel like we have his full attention and has given us good direction in our care. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a medical doctor. We've now been with Dr. McMurtry for several years. I'm always impressed with the time we spend with him. I never feel rushed, he takes the time to give very complete information and recommendations. Canceled an apt that we have had for over a month. They would not let me speak to the Dr or have the Dr call me back. They do not care that my husbands is having symptoms that we had the apt for. Very rude receptionist
