Dr. Trevor Marshall Owen

Operated on my 82 year old mom on April 11th . After surgery, he nor his team members came to check on the patient, or to speak to a family member. They discharged the patient with staples still in place without saying anything . It’s been 15 days post-op and not one person from the team has followed up to see how she is recovering, or to advise on the staples. We understand that he’s probably busy, but the fact that no one on the team has reached out since taking her back to the OR, is disrespectful and shows a clear lack of care for the patient. From other personal experiences with my and other family members’ health, I will say Carilion Clinic is a great medical facility with many brilliant, talented, and kind doctors. I broke my Tibia/fibula while skiing in snowshoe, wv. I was shipped to the hospital in Roanoke, where Dr Owen and his team operated on my leg. It was pretty scary having to be operated on 6.5 hours from home. I work in surgery myself, and was able to follow up with the ortho docs back home, and they all agree that Dr Owen did a great job on my poor leg. Thank you Dr. Owen!! Rebuilt my knee after a farm accident and replaced my husbands R/ Hip work was great neither of us had any pain and have done great.

Would NOT recommend this "Dr." My husband injured his back and hip at work. "Dr" Owen recommended EXCERCISE to help with his pain..??? My husband could barely walk...and in the end required a back fusion with rods and screws. We found another hip surgeon. "Dr." Owen was a real jerk do not waste your valuable time. He is a jerk, treats you like a drug addict , more concerned with his license then he is your broken bones. Take Advil he says all in the same breath as he tells you how painful the bone is that is broken. AND leaves ya sit for two hours . AFTER they X-ray you as if they are moving right along .

Was referred to Dr. Owen by another orthopedic doctor in the Carillon clinic system.. was told I needed hip replacement ( a doctor that I really trust) have been seeing him for 5 years after a bad accident) he came in asked when was my last X-ray I told him I thought a year ago. He then asked if i smoked I replied yes. He got up walked out and said when you quite we will talk then.. insurance want pay if you smoke.. never told me if I need the hip replacement never did an X Ray. Nothing... he is a real jerk... I have been seen by 6 doctor there for years and have never been treated like that.. no bed side minor at all... My appointment was at 1:20, I sat for maybe an hour while a second year student got my life history,present and future. I brought an x-ray and MRI of left hip which i gave to the nurse upon arrival. When dr.owen did come in he diagnosed me with mild arthritis after reviewing my x-rays. for some reason he didn't review the MRI. I mentioned it to him and he left and came back stating that I had bruised my hip bone . this whole process took an hour and a half. i hope medicare is not billed that way.Dr. owen replaced my father in laws hip about three years ago and everyone thought he was great so maybe he was having a bad day. Dr. Owen operated on my son’s dislocated knee and broken tibia at Roanoke Memorial. He explained everything thoroughly and gave us great comfort that he cared about my son achieving a full recovery. Follow up care after surgery was excellent. We feel very fortunate he was there to perform the surgery.

I really don't understand why Dr Owen has such a negative review? I had a fall at work pretty much shattering my left wrist. I have no insurance there was no worker's compensation! I'm from Bristol Tennessee and no surgeon around my area would even talk to me. Dr Owen's was the only one! I looked him up before my appointment to see the negative reviews. To tell the truth that had me worried. I made it to Roanoke kinda freaking out only to find he's outstanding! I've seen him twice now and both times he couldn't have been friendlier. Very informative as well. People please don't worry about seeing this guy. I really don't understand this negativity? I really don't understand why Dr Owen has such a negative review? After my accident, I was under Dr. Owen's care for a little over a year. The hospital staff praised him. We figured out quickly that he is great at what he does. He explains clearly, answers all your questions, and makes you feel at ease. He is the best along with the rest of his practice. I had a pelvic external fixator for three months. I wouldn't trust anyone else.

I would never refer anyone to Dr. Owens . His bedside manner is extremely poor and he is dismissive of the patient’s needs. My grandmother drove 2 1/2 hours to see him and he told her he could do nothing for her broken in two humorous bone! All he suggested was to come back in 2 weeks to see how it was healing. I’ve never been more disgusted with a doctor in my life. I will definitely never go back to him nor refer him even to my worst enemy!

As a rare disease patient, Dr. Owen is the only orthopedic surgeon I trust in the area. He knew about my rare disease before meeting me which may be even rarer than my disease. He tells it like it is and doesn't put you through unnecessary treatments if he doesn't have to. I would recommend him to any and everybody who has orthopedic problems. He has an answer to every question and can admit when he needs to consult other specialists to give the best quality of care.
