Dr. William Joseph Garrity

He is very accommodating. Not only takes appointments, but also walk-ins. My daughter complained of wrist pain during my initial appointment, and he saw her as well. Ordered xrays for us both after I was misdiagnosed from my GP and my daughter's wrist was written off as nothing wrong. A few days after he diagnosed my injury and treated, I went from debilitating pain to almost pain free with NO pain meds! Not only did he address my injury, but had blood work done and addressed other concerns that I had on my list and brought up before I could. He's very observant and in-tune with his patients. You may need to wait in the exam room to be seen, but the interactions with other patients and their family (children) will make you smile. All of the staff that I have interacted with have made me feel at home (as if I was family) and truly cared for! This is only my 3rd week with Dr. Garrity and I'm over the moon excited to feel truly cared about, not just my back, but my total health and the health of my daughter that wasn't even brought there as a patient, but had an undiagnosed injury that he treated as an impromptu (piggyback) appointment. So if you have an appointment, there most likely may be a delay, but that's because he's thorough and truly cares. Definitely worth my time! My mother and I left our prior GP practice of 40+ years to be patients of Dr. Garrity. Don't take my word for it, see for yourself! This is how healthcare should be! (Again, anticipate spending an hour in the office, but it's so with it!)

I called Dr Garrity for my husband . He was closed but still answered the phone. He patiently answered all my questioned and accommodated our appointment with my husbands hectic work hours. DR. Garrity is an excellent doctor. He really cares for his patients. He also help us to have a successful pregnancy ???? after a miscarriages. My first OB doesn’t care at all on what’s the reason why I am having miscarriages. At first I was hesitant to take the pill that he was recommending coz Im afraid to have another miscarriage,problems again and it turns out my baby is healthy. Did some lab test to make sure my hormones, blood tests are in normal status. He really cares even it’s not his job for maternity. Now I have healthy baby with me! Thank you to him for taking care of my husband’s back after his spinal surgery. A little adjustment of his back every check up and he is fine for a week to work. Excellent doctor who truly and intuitively extrapolates proper diagnosis with a holistic approach for resolve. I have been going to Dr. Garrity for several years and have found him to be an exceptional doctor on all levels. His medical knowledge is incomparable and he always takes the time to understand all of my symptoms. To me, there is no doubt that he became a doctor because he truly wants to help his patients ... and this is proven time and again when he makes himself available when his patients need him ... even on his day off if necessary. I can't tell you how comforted I am at having him for my primary care physician.

I called and asked if they accept Medicare and Medicaid. They do not accept Medicare but they do accept Medicaid, but told me they would bill me a $110 “copay”, that I could then submit to my secondary insurance for reimbursement. This makes no sense and seems deceptive.

Sometimes Dr Garrity cares about your health sometimes he does not but he will allways bill you high. What is most puzzling is that he is happy to bill you for the wrong reason and after he admits to your face that he did it he will refuse to correct the bill he submits to your insurrance company. My experience with dr. Garrity has not only been life changing for myself but also for my son. Having a history with arrogant doctors just not wanting to be wrong or so confident in their diagnosis, have repeatedly misdiagnosed myself and recently my two year old son. Long story short, I had taken my 2 year old to his pediatrician twice before deciding I wouldn’t take their blame and clearly just knew something was wrong with my son. Changes between his eating habits changing, discomfort in his left ear And just not my usual cheerful and happy little guy. The pediatrician misdiagnosing him sent me home twice suggesting pediasure and that nothing was wrong. mind you his left ear was bright red and swollen. He also hadn’t slept very well in about 2 weeks before taking him to dr garrity for a second opinion. So anyway, the conclusion of this mess was dr garrity saving my son from losing his hearing, due to negligence of his pediatrician. He treated his infection that was clearly making him lose his appetite and leaving him extremely exhausted and uncomfortable. Dr garrity not only made sure my son was diagnosed properly, but also reassured me that I was not insane and a hypochondriac. Personally, If you are looking for a doctor who will truly listen to his patients and takes the time to properly diagnose them, he is your doc. The office happens to be extremely busy at all times for this reason. He never sends you home without accurate diagnosis. It may even take him a couple tests but he always solves the mystery. Misdiagnosis - Dr. Garrity told me I have fluid on my brain, I may need it drained or a shunt. I just saw a neurologist at Yale who said I absolutely do not have fluid on my brain! I spent four months under intense duress due to this misdiagnosis. I did not think he was correct because my MRI did not show this information. Yet, hearing a doctor tell you with certainty was difficult to know. I am happy to have ruled this out and can now move on. Caution to anyone thinking of seeing this doctor.

The first doctor I have met in 40 years that actually is smart. The guy is amazing and really cares. He is not quick to just write off a script. He actually wants to help. Amazing didn't think there was any doctors out there that care anymore. I drive 45 minutes to go there.

Be prepared for test after test after test. Wait hours, hours, hours. You need a form signed? You need to make an appointment... very smart man but......

In order for me to recommend Dr. Garrity I must explain a few things. In previous reviews I noticed a few points that are true but are explained incorrectly. 3 most important parts of your visit are 1. Disclosure. Make sure you are letting Dr know everything he needs to know about your symptoms and history. 2. Listen to his questions and instructions 3. Follow through. Dr. Garrity is not only a physician but an educator. If you explain what’s going on make sure you include all relevant information during your visit he will in most cases put you through a few tests and trials of habit or diet changes before he can explain and solve the root problem. In essence instead of masking a symptom he finds the reason why it exists and tackles the root problem. I suffered from severe symptoms. Instead of a prescription to solve that problem he worked with me over 3 months of testing and trials before we solved the problem with a deficiency solved by natural remedies. He’s not hesitant to prescribe prescriptions but is almost a detective and a doctor in one. To understand why I have a problem is extremely more helpful then being given a prescription to solve it creating another. In order for a doctor to give a prescription or refill of one requirement of insurance and medical boards is the patient is seen within each refill to follow up on symptoms and or side effects. During these follow up visit the doctor is able to properly refill a prescription that solves a problem rather than create another. If the doctor doesn’t do this and a serious condition accrues he would be negligent in his care. So the fact that Dr Garrity is resistant in refilling a prescription without follow up is indicative of his true passion for helping solve a problem rather than mask it and create another. This can be frustrating to some people but if you follow this train of care it will result in a long term success of health. Dr. Garrity also has an Amazing memory and tremendous amount of knowledge. That is because not only does he hold a degree but he continues to learn and educate himself on new and old conditions, industry changes and trends. I also know that during my wait for doctor he spends an enormous amount of time in his office reading waiting patient files and blood work and doing his research before he comes into your room. So if your waiting a while during your visit most of the time he’s reading your current and past history and researching his material for a higher level of diagnosis. Each time I see Dr. Garrity I learn more about my own body and why or how it works. I learned which foods and medicines that help and or hurt. After 2 years of seeing Dr. Garrity I have taken less drugs and less time needing to see him. But when I do see him he immediately knows what route we will take to SOLVE my issues rather than give me a pill to stop one and create another. So if you want to have long term good health and preventative care I encourage you to invest your time and efforts to seeing and listening to Dr. Garrity. I have called his office all hours of the day and night and never been turned away! I can see him the same day 99% of the time or able to make an appointment any day I want in the future. I don’t mind the wait because I know that just like I walk in on emergency days he is doing the same for others and will eventually give me my time and extend his knowledge and care to me. If your looking for a doctor to see you and offer a fix to your 1 concern and out then he may not be your doctor but if your willing to solve the mystery of your own personal health and live a longer healthier life make the investment and see Dr. Garrity. I have had back issues since childhood and have seen many, many doctors. NO ONE has helped me the way Dr. Garrity has. I am feeling great! I’m actually improving! He has educated me and I understand reasons and solutions for my issues now. Not only is he a genius with treating muscular/skeletal issues, he is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of health and wellness. I absolutely love his holistic DO approach. He has helped my entire family with ALL of our health concerns for several years now. All ages including pediatric treatment! My young daughter especially loves him. He takes the time to make his patients feel comfortable and cared for. I feel so grateful to have found him. He is a gentleman, kind, caring, professional, highly skilled, and so much more. The way the flow is done, you wait about an hour from your arrival time to be seen. IT IS WORTH THE WAIT. We plan for it. We bring things to do while we wait, and we take it as a little time out built-in to our busy day. It is wonderful that he is available so late in the day. We love our late evening appointments! I really appreciate the flexibility with scheduling. We can change an appointment the day of, or make any other adjustments to appointments that we need; they are extremely flexible. They always accommodate us when we need to come in, and I am so grateful that I can count on showing up in the evening anytime I need to. Appointments are easy as long as you understand there’s a built in wait. If you understand and accept that, you won’t be disappointed or upset by it, and can plan for it. This works for us! It is not like other doctors offices the way they run appointments, but I much prefer this because of the flexibility, late evenings, and the treatment we receive. The longest wait times I have ever experienced at a doctors office. The first few appointments were about an hour wait for me to be seen. The last appointment I had was almost two hours in the waiting room. Dr Garrity was very brief and I felt rushed. I decided he was not the doctor for me and my family. I had a very hard time getting any of my medical records from this office. My daughter was almost late to start the school year because this office could not find any record of her physical. I ended up needing to take her to a walk in clinic to re do her physical so she could go to school. Do not waste your time with this doctor. Don't bother! You are waiting over an hour to be put in a room and then waiting even more to be seen.

I wish I could recommend Dr. Garrity's office; the staff is friendly and helpful, and Dr. Garrity is incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, there are major issues that will not allow me to return. 1- I have regularly attended the office for more than a year due to possible heart issues, and have never waited less than an hour and fifteen minutes to see the Dr. (and I purposefully schedule to be the first appointment of the day). 2- It takes up to two weeks for the office to respond to pharmacy prescription renewal requests, meaning every month I went at least a week without my medication (often not responding at all). 3- They refused to give more than 30 days of prescription at a time, and required a personal office call to give refills (thus starting the two week wait). 4- They refuse to refill prescriptions unless you have an appointment scheduled (even if it has nothing to do with the prescription). 5- Even with multiple calls to the office, they never followed through with calling in referrals. In short, they are friendly but severely lack competence. As an osteopathic physician myself, if you have musculoskeletal (especially neck and back pain), I can tell you that Dr. Garrity is one of the BEST osteopathic physicians in New England. At times, when I lived in Syracuse, I even made the 4 hour trip to see him because I could find no osteopathic providers (at his level) in central NY. If he is running behind in his office, it is because he takes great care to treat people with his hands and avoids prescribing unnecessary medications. Actually fixing the problem takes time. That's what osteopathic medicine is all about. I have avoided surgery for 19 years by seeing DOs (like Dr. Garrity) once in a while to address new or worsening symptoms. While I was training at Yale (far from Suffield), he even saw me in his office at 9 pm one night, after I got out of work. If you have neck pain or back pain with symptoms radiating down your arm or leg, you know how important it is to be able to get in to see someone who can really relieve your pain! I have unfortunately had back problems since high school, and have been seeing doctors and physical therapists for a little over a decade now. Many of my doctors have been excellent, but especially Dr. Garrity. He has given me a level of function and relief that I did not think possible without surgery; in fact, he has helped me to avoid surgery entirely. He and his staff are courteous, understanding, and kind. He is a brilliant doctor whose skill cannot be overstated. Found Dr. Garrity by coincidence. Recommended by a massage therapist as having success with muscle issues I was having years past an accident. I was so impressed I changed to PC. The office is a little unconventional but it's cozy and if you have some unique issues, it's worth the wait.

Well, its been more than 5 years seeing Dr. Garrity! I am stilled wowwed and impressed by his professionalism and character which is focused on true health care! He is that diamond in the rough! Great Doctor....I find him very caring, he is understanding and listens to me. I am glad I go to see him for my back and wrist problems.

Dr. Garrity takes a great analytical approach to understanding what is wrong and makes great recommendations. In particular, I appreciate the DO approach of working with the body to allow it to heal rather than prescribing meds right away as other so called doctors do.
