Such a kind, gentle dental service like I have never experienced in my life. Calming, great listening skills, not pushy about any procedures. Paulette the hygienist made the difference between cringing and being able to relax.

I have to say this was the most relaxed visit I have ever had at a dentist appointment. Dr. Whitney and his staff are wonderful! I needed three broken teeth in a row up top and one broken tooth below the gumline on bottom taken out. Normally at the dentist I'd be gripping the arms of the chair. Not the case with Dr. Whitney. I just knew I was in good hands. No pain after the Novocaine wore off. Here it is the morning after... still no pain. No bruising or swelling. I had a bothersome molar that was occasionally painful. Dr Whitney thoroughly evaluated the tooth, the crown, and the root, and engaged with me to develop a monitoring plan that I feel very comfortable with.

Fabulous staff. Amazingly talented dentist. He re-fit a lost cap for me on a front tooth so brilliantly and with such kindness and care, and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a dental office.

I lost a rather unique cap off of a front tooth and could not find a dentist in mid-coast Maine who could refit it quickly. In fact, many were booking many months ahead, probably because of Covid issues. Another dentist's office referred me to Dr. Whitney, and I am so glad that they did. Their receptionist was exceptionally helpful in many ways, and although my original appointment with them was 3 weeks away, was able to fit me into a cancelled appointment in 2 weeks. Dr. Whitney and his dental assistant were both extremely professional, clearly highly trained, and kind, and the the dentist was able to retrofit and fix the old cap into my mouth and adjust it for my bite, etc. He explained everything as he went, and I left with my smile restored. I would definitely recommend this dental practice.

He once patiently spent 35 minutes pulling a really stubborn molar, huge relief!

I was shocked by the rudeness of the staff at this dental office. The dentist did not really answer my questions. I will not visit this dental office again and I would not recommend it.

My experiences at Dr. William Whitney's office could not have been worse. A numbing shot that caused severe facial pain and double eyesight. Doctor Whitney cut my lip with a burr, said oops, walked away and I got directions to Rite Aid for an antiseptic from the assistant. More serious problems caused by Dr. Whitney: A questionable crown according to a specialist. A bridge that had to be taken out twice and damaged a virgin tooth beyond repair which will cause lasting after effects. Several specialists had to repair the damage. Several fillings that had to be redone by my new dentist. FOLLOW-UP: In answer to the response of W. Whitney. This is an HONEST review of my experiences with this dental office! I filed a complaint with the Maine Dental Board which is still under review. In his answer, W. Whitney claims to have reimbursed my health insurance which is not true! Apparently, W. Whitney does not understand the word "extortion"! I did NOT have" a complete oral reconstruction" as W. Whitney claims. One highly respected specialist told me the dental care I have received at W. Whitney's office was mediocre at best. I am most definitely not a difficult person as W. Whitney claims. Everybody is welcome to ask my new dentist, the specialists who have worked with me to clean up the mess W. Whitney created, and my personal care physician. Also, I NEVER " visited "other doctors in town". I have NEVER written any reviews on other pages under" different names"! In the meanwhile, W. Whitney's Facebook page has changed several times... Dr Whitney's office is the Best .I had a couple broken front teeth and I'm happy to say .He repaired them for me and now I smile .I feel very comfortable going in there . Everyone is always so friendly and caring .

Don't take your kid here!!! I could see my kid was uncomfortable and the sounds being made should've been an indicator to Dr. Whitney but he didn't seem to care. It seemed like Dr. Whitney was stressing during the visit because he wasn't being very nice to his helper. My kid left traumatized and our family will not be going there any more

I chose to go to this office because I was new to the area and Dr. Whitney takes my insurance My insurance and really liking my hygienist are the only reason I continue at this office The waiting area is very small, stuffy and dated. As a matter of fact, most of the office, except for where the Doctor works, is dated and not kept up well. The staff are very cheerful, friendly and knowledgable, but Dr. Whitney is hard to understand most of the time.

I went to this dentist once. The waiting room was stuffy and claustrophobic. Apparently they ran behind schedule; I had to wait a long time. Every dentist I ever visited before had a separate room to see patients. Not here. While I was waiting in the chair, the doctor was with another patient in the next chair. I could hear every word because the chairs are in one open room. The music was annoying. The doctor mumbled the whole time during the procedure and I couldn't understand what he was saying. I had questions afterwards, but the doctor was already gone and his assistant led me to the front desk to pay the bill. All in all, a very weird experience. I never returned. Also, six months later my filling had to be redone by another dentist.

My experience was great at this practice. I was new to the area and a friend recommended Dr. Whitney and his staff. I was pleased and brought my kids and husband for their semi annual exams, too. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Whitney has a serious complaint filed against him with the Maine Dental Board of Practice. Dr. Whitney's dental care is unacceptable as I was told by several specialists that had to correct my problems Dr. Whitney created. He is also an unethical person. I strongly advise people to choose another dentist. Protect your healthy teeth and your insurance money!!!

There is a lot wrong with this dental office. Two of the people working with Dr. Whitney stated that he was not professional and should leave his personal problems (Going through a divorce.) at home. One of these people left shortly after. One time Dr. Whitney cut my lip with a burr, said 'oops' and left the room, I never saw him again. The dental assistent referred me to the local Rite Aid for an antiseptic because she couldn't find anything. I tried to stop the bleeding with my Kleenex tissue and went to Rite Aid. Another time when Dr. Whitney gave me a shot to numb the area to be worked on, I felt the needle go in a lot deeper than usual. All of a sudden I felt a terrible pain on that side of my face shooting up to my eye. (It caused double vision in my eye which lasted for at least 25 minutes.) When I asked Dr. Whitney what happened he looked at me like a deer in headlights. He told me he had never seen this happen in his carreer. I went home and made an appointment with an optalmologist to make sure there would be no lasting damage. It was very clear to me that Dr. Whitney had no idea what had caused this.These are only a few examples of what happened. Needless to say, I now visit another dentist. What a difference!

No. Just no. I went in as a new patient and listened to the dentist discuss with the patient their treatment and issues out in the waiting room. Then the hygienist almost forgot my lead apron for an X-ray. The contraption would not fit in my mouth well so I had to hold it. Then she didn't get the right image so was going to have to do it again. She left to get the dentist when the second contraption wouldn't fit or position correctly either. I left startling the dentist who was sitting in his office. This place did not inspire confidence in me. I feel fortunate to have left without work done.

I am new to the area and a friend had recommended Dr. Whitney and his staff/office. I was very pleased with the service and professionalism. The hygienist was friendly, office clean and welcoming, and Dr. Whitney answered all my questions; I highly recommend this practice. Bonus: The location is convenient (easy off street parking in the back).

My experience with Dr. Whitney could not have been worse. Dr. Whitney does not care about his patients. Most regular dental procedures had to be corrected by another dentist. Other problems occurred as well such as a questionable crown and a bridge that had to be taken out twice which left a virgin tooth damaged beyond repair. I now have to see specialists for expensive dental procedures to correct the damage caused by Dr. Whitney. The outcome is uncertain.
