The previously posted review by Ms. Sams is clearly a case of mistaken identity, which is probably why the physician's daughter contacted the reviewer. Dr. Dowdy is a pathologist, not an oncologist or radiologist. Pathologists have no control over ordering, cancelling, or scheduling PET scans and, therefore, could not have been the source of the scheduling mix-up. Someone is likely to blame for this unfortunate delay, but it is certainly not the patient's pathologist, who, most likely rendered a timely and expert diagnosis. The services for Oncology at Kettering get 0 stars from me! My mother was just seen by Dr. Dowdy on 4/6/18 and diagnosed with stage 4 andenocarcinoma and a PET scan was ordered by the doctor for 1 week later (4/13/18). She was called by Kettering today (4/12/18) and told that the appointment needed to be cancelled because the insurance hasn’t approved a PET scan yet. After contacting the insurance, it was discovered that actually Dr. Dowdy’s office never put the order in!! She called Dr. Dowdy’s office back to ask why the order hasn’t been put in and to please send the order over now so her appointment tomorrow can be kept only for them to tell her “sorry we have a cancellation procedure and once we’ve cancelled you have to wait at least 24 hours before we are able to look at rescheduling you.” This PET scan is to determine her course of treatment, we are talking about a procedure that is literately life and death and obviously Kettering Hospital and Dr. Dowdy could care less about ensuring their patients are well cared for and correcting their own mistakes instead of leaving it to the patient, who has just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, to call around and figure out why an appointment is being cancelled! ETA 3/31/19: I was inappriopately contacted by this doctor’s daughter, Gabbi, about retracting this review where she stated my review was very unfair to her mother (again the Dr. and office that caused a delay in my mother’s treatment). Completely unprofessional and unethical, please steer clear of this office. I am happy to report my mother is now receiving adequate and appropriate care at The James at OSU.
