Dr. Zakir M Ali

I have been going to Jefferson neurology since 2018 when I started having seizures. I met Dr Ali once, all other appointments have been with his PA Carla. This place has some of the worst service. I have arrived to my check in time and they have asked me come back later that afternoon because they over scheduled and were behind. I have arrived at my check in time and then waited 50 minutes to be seen. I have called everyday for over a week and left voicemails because nobody answers, and got no call back. When I finally get to see the PA it is rushed, I have to stop her from leaving the room when I have questions because she just wants to move onto next patient. This last time nothing was done (no medication adjustment, no tests, she hadn't looked at the ER reports) she just asked me to describe the seizure and told me to get enough sleep and stay hydrated. If you go here just plan to spend an hour waiting and be prepared for them to reschedule at the last second. Update (2yrs after original review) Ran out of my anti-seizure medication and found out from the pharmacy that the script was expired and a request was made to Dr Ali to renew it. I called the office to let them know it was urgent since I was out of the medication. Had to call again today to ask them again because they still hadn't sent the script to the pharmacy. No surprise that they didnt answrt the first time i called this morning so I had to call again. Got a call back a couple hours later and was told that Dr Ali apprived a 30 day script of the meds, but would no longer see me because I had voiced these concerns to them and wrote the original review. They said I needed to find a new neurologist. I explained that I tried to do so 2yrs ago while pregnant, but when the new neurologist tried to get the records from Jefferson Neurology, they were unable to do so. This was because JN would not transfer my care and informed them I already had a neurologist. This was after my midwife, then my OBGYN, PCP and myself attempted, at least a dozen times, to get the records from JN and get me an appointment because I was pregnant with a seizure disorder. Do not recommend this "doctor" or Jefferson Neurology.

My experience as a patient of Dr. Ali has been nothing short of great. He is thorough, as is his staff. As he said he would, he saw it through to get me into another specialist's office, as well as my MRI/MRA scheduled in a timely fashion. For this I am thankful since there wasn't a huge lapse in time between appointments and such. Dr. Ali also has an impressive bedside manner. I left feeling relieved as I could tell he genuinely cared for me as a human being, not only as a patient, and was inspired to get me answers as fast as he could. All in all, I appreciate Dr. Ali and his staff. If I ever need any follow up neurology work I will be going back to his office! My experience as a patient of Dr. Ali has been nothing short of great. I’ve been getting Botox injections here for more than two years. Up until today the process of scheduling has been a “challenge” @ best. I’d have to wait until 7 days before my Botox injections were due & then call to reschedule. If I called prior to that it was too soon and then I’d often end up having to wait longer than my 3mos to get an open appointment. If you have Botox for migraines you know any extra waiting can mean an extra week of all day every day excruciating migraines. Not anymore! Tasha is now handling the Botox schedule & insurance authorization process. She’s amazing! She reached out to me to schedule my upcoming injections! Her level of customer service and kindness is refreshing! A special thank you to Tasha! I was referred to Dr. Ali by Ashland Orthopedics after a tramatic injury. I was treated with patience and kindness. He performed the nerve tests and explained all details so I could understand and answered all my questions. Dr. Ali misdiagnosed me with a chronic illness nearly two years ago. After many months of suffering, I went to another neurologist who immediately noted that I did not have a chronic illness, and that Dr. Ali missed the actual cause of my symptoms. My new neurologist determined the cause from looking at an MRI Dr. Ali ordered in 2019 and did not take the time to thoroughly examine. Because of him, I suffered very harsh side effects from unnecessary medication I never should have been on in the first place. He does not listen. He only wants to talk and send you on your way.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have been dealing with this "company" because it would be a joke to call them a practice... for over a year. My primary sends them referrals and they don't even have the courtesy to CALL and let you know if something is wrong. This was the first bad sign. Second, when I finally got in contact with them, they claimed they denied me due to me not having sent over my records. But you never called me? Why did I have to get denied three times and finally have to call myself to get this information. Ok, I decide to still go through with this company. My old neurologist faxes over my records not once but TWICE and they still claim they did not receive anything. Not to mention the rude receptionist I spoke to on 08/14/2020 who was extremely condescending and unwilling to help. I DO NOT recommend this place. I have decided to switch neurologist and wish them the best of luck with their horrible service. You have just lost a customer! I have attached proof that my records indeed got faxed. They obviously have something wrong with their fax machine or are deliberately turning down patients that don't have elite health insurance. If I could give zero stars I would. So i was supposed to go about a month ago in Klamath falls. I go to my appointment and was told that my appointment was the day before in ashland this is the first time i am hearing this about ashland. After i get mad they agree to a phone appt that day. Mind you it took a month to get the appointment in the first place. Since i have been a patient i have never received a call back when i left a message. A week after my appointment i called about an eeg i was supposed to have. The girl said she would talk to who does referrals and call me back. Still no call back. I am on a potassium-depleting diuretic for a chronic illness. Two years ago, I asked Dr. Ali twice to monitor my potassium levels with blood work and he refused, saying, “the body evens itself out”. This year, I started seeing a new GP and it was discovered that I have hypokalemia due to low potassium. Was very good with my Mom. He diagnosed her quickly and did everything he could. I would highly recommend him, especially for myesthenia patients. Now 10 years later and I now have Myesthenia too, thanks to his warning when my Mom was sick, I was able to catch mine quickly, my sister is now having symptoms so has an appointment there herself. I live in AZ now so cannot see them, but wish I could as I am sure they would take good care of me too. It is believed that Myesthenia is NOT inherited but our Dr. at this office told us he had treated many mothers and daughters. I told my AZ Dr. about this and he was surprised as well that it might run in families. This medical group is really on top of this disease so please see them if possible. Was very good with my Mom. Short apt, no exam, pushed drugs, not thorough testing via operator, in and out. Relyd on old tests instead of current. Never want to go to again.

Dr Ali is a very good listener. As he talks to you he is a very active listener. he creates a relaxed stress free visit and takes his time with you. Dr Ali is a very compassionate and kind person. A nurse in his ashland office i wish i would of had a similar experience with. i am a large person with large arms. she got out an automated cuff. i asked for a manual large sized cuff. i explained that the automated ones leave bruises, red lines and causes arm and hand pain and numbness for days after. i was not allowed that option. she stared me down until i submitted. cuff squeezed so hard that my hand turned bright red and it felt like it was going to pop off. now 4 days after my blood pressure was taken with the automated cuff i have an indentation where the cuff was and red striation marks and my arm and hand hurts . the rest of the staff smiled and were very courteous and helpful.

My daughter started suffering from seizures and spent 3 days in ICU, dr ali was kind and soft spoken and made her feel calm and less afraid.

Dr. Ali has been very attentive during my appointments. He as listened to all of my concerns. He has helped to find treatments for me. He kept trying different treatments for me and hasn't stopped . He is so kind and compassionate. His staff always goes above and beyond. You have to remember that you are not the only patient and that they deal with many patients but they do go to bat with your insurance to help get the recommended treatment for you! My quality of life is improving because of Dr.Ali! He is a blessing. I know the paperwork with the insurance that they had to deal with to get the insurance to cover the medication was the only frustrating part but that was not Dr.Ali's fault. He is competent and compassionate. He champions for his patients. Amazing neurologist.

Dr Ali is acknowledged as a very astute neurologist in this Southern Oregon area. I recently went to him and he ordered mri's done of my total spine and they showed something that needed serious surgical attention. He referred me to the top neurosurgeon[DR. Miroslav Bobek] in the area and i am post-op 2 days and doing well.

My husband had to go see the guy. My husband can barely walk at times because his back hurts him so bad. This doctor told him he does not need EMG... all his doctors have said he does. Dr. Ali seen him 13 months ago. A lot can change in 13 months. The doctor walked into the exam room in a suit that cost about $1,000 dollars and $300.00 dollar shoes. All to say my husband doesn't need to be seen and acted confused as to why he was there. Our doctor had referred him there. They took his blood pressure and dismissed him. I would like to have Dr. Ali to live in my husband's body for one day. He would not be able to take the pain. My husband cries out in his sleep. His body jerks and twiches all the time. He never sleeps a full night. He gets up and down all night long. Sometimes he has good days and we pray that the next day will be the same, but he lays down and cant get up. Sometimes walking he needs to take breaks so often he gets very flusterated. Well his office visit just made dr. Ali car payment. What does a person have to do to get fixed. Beg...Well he has done that already. Cry...well he does that everyday. Pray...we both do that everyday multiple times. When a Dr dismisses you like that. It makes you feel worthless. Shame on you. Our initial appointment was scheduled for 3pm today (over a month in advance). We received a call from Dr. Ali's staff asking us to arrive one hour early (we agreed). A half hour later we received another call asking us to arrive by 1:30 (we agreed). We received one final call for a 12:30 arrival time. We checked in at 12:20..after waiting forty-five minutes Dr. Ali's nurse came out and (with a slight attitude) informed us our appt time was 1:30. We told her we had been asked to arrive at 12:30 and without apology she said "I'll see what I can do". We waited an additional hour for a total of an hour and fifty minutes and never saw the doctor. Very nice doctor, answered all the questions I had. I've seen three other doctors in the past 6 months (though none of them neurologists) trying to diagnose my hand tremors and Dr. Ali was able to diagnose me in about 15 minutes with ET. Receptionists and assistants were also very nice. Highly recommended!

I have been battling debilitating migraines so was referred to Dr. Ali. He is trying me on a medication to see if it helps. My appointment was with the physician's assistant Carla. She was nice and friendly and listened to me, then Dr. Ali came in and talked to me. I got a horrid migraine while waiting for my pharmacy to get my new meds in. We are very likely to recommend Dr. Ali to friends/family. Dr. Ali has a super chairside manner; he is very kind, very competent. Dr. Ali ordered appropriate studies; he called me directly to report results. Dr. Ali's office seems very efficient; he initiated a referral that very day. I was kept in the loop through this office's very good patient portal. Call-backs were same day. Huge shoot out to Dr. Ali's staff!! It is so nice to see a Doctor & staff who really seems to care!

I only saw Dr. Ali once, but he got the job done. He spent a lot of time with me and was very empathetic. He got to the root of the problem right away and got me the referral I needed. I have spent five years in a very broken workers comp system and nothing being done, and Dr. Ali got to the bottom of it very quickly.

I would never recommend Dr Ali to my worst enemy. He AND his staff are rude and unprofessional. Isn't it unethical to string along a patient for months and then decide not to take on my case so as not to step on any toes? WTH???

The worst doctor I have ever met. Degrading, condescending and wanted me to do the leg work for finding scans, mri's etc. After waiting an hour and then visiting with me for 10 minutes he made me feel like I was lying, when I clearly could not remember if I had a brain scan when first diagnosed 6 years ago. Called the imaging department and made me listen to him degrade me about what scans I have had. Would give him a ZERO if I could...one star is too good for this lazy so called high and mighty specialist. First hand JERK! Someone from his office called to apologize for him, due to him not able to do it himself. She said he gets frustrated and that we were not on the same page. The office is kept very clean. I always feel comfortable during my visits.

My overall comfort level with Dr. Ali is very good. He is very pleasant and professional with his patients and I would recommend his care to anyone I know!

One thing that separates Dr. Ali from others in his profession is that he genuinely cares about each one of his patients. It isn't about just getting them through the door, he will take all the steps needed to provide the best possible care.

Don't recommend. He's nice, but I think his office staff is incompetent. I have to call the office a lot to try to find out about tests/appointments he wants done or I've already had, only to be given the run around. Despite the fact that I am steadily getting worse, there is at least a month in between everything. Have a test ordered or referral to a specialist, wait at least a month to get it done (office drops the ball) wait another month for appointment for results, still no clue, repeat.

I am very pleased with the care that Dr. Ali has provided.

Dr. Ali spends a lot of time with patients and I am very satisfied with the care I have gotten from him!

Never got to see the doctor due to a two hour wait time... Front desk lady said this is fairly common with him.

Dr Ali and his staff are amazing. They go above and beyond for you and your family to understand what is going on with you. They offer a warm, inviting atmosphere and very knowledgeable. Dr Ali sent me for a 2nd opinion so I would be reassured. They came to the same conclusion that he did. They always make you feel comfortable and want to make sure you understand your diagnosis and options before you leave.

It is easy to see how much Dr. Ali cares about his patients because he often encourages them to get second opinions when many doctors are not okay with this.

It is difficult getting into a neurologist but when my wife and son needed in, dr. Ali would accommodatell them even if it meant during his lunch or after hours. He is very professional and intelligent. As a chiropractor in medford, I also would refer any of my patients to him with the utmost confidence!

Dr. Ali helped my mom so much. We can't think him enough.

Rita and twiggy seemed mean and Un sensitive to me and my mom when we have concussions

He was very thorough and explained the testing and results completely. He was very personable and I felt he really listened to my issue. He offered several options to try to resolve my issues.
