Dr. David Randall Daynes

Having had my husband follow up with the specialist on the root canals that have been neglected by the Dr., I decided to give it a shot with the professional as well. For over a decade, first with my husband and I, and then with our kids, we have been patrons of this facility. Regular check ups every 6 months; we even got Christmas pictures in the mail from them. You would expect some more love and tender care from someone sending you Christmas pictures, right? To make the story short, 3 root canals between two molars, and a wisdom tooth extraction later, having received “it takes time to heal/everything looks great/we can put you on antibiotics” another time, I gambled with the specialist. Leaving alone thousand of dollars down the drain, I have to extract those two poor molars as there is no bone left to save. No bone, Karl! Does the missing bone mass not get picked up by any standard X-ray equipment? Happy holidays to you all! Do your homework when picking a general dentist or it will cost you. A tooth or two, and maybe your savings account.

Very pleasant visit.. get it? Pleasant Grove? Ha.

Dr Daynes always does a very through inspection of your teeth and his hygienist does and amazing cleaning.

always perfect service for many years

In the past month, I’ve visited Dr. Daynes and the nurses here four different times to get procedures done and all have been a smooth ride. It’s honestly been a treat to get to know them in small ways even if my mouth is open the entire time. Best dental experiences I’ve ever had! Seriously 10/10 would recommend over and over again! Due to medications I have had to take for chronic health conditions, my teeth have really started to go downhill compared to the relatively healthy teeth I was used to. Dr Daynes and his team have been absolutely amazing!!! From the broken tooth that caused incredible pain to the basic cleaning, they've been so awesome. The staff is so friendly and they all remember personal details that make you feel like you aren't just another patient. I've never had a dentist experience like the one I've had with Dr Daynes and Pleasant Dental. I can't see myself going anywhere else. I was nervous and scared to get my wisdom teeth removed but it was over before I knew it and didn't even hurt. The gas and tv helped put my mind at ease and I kinda forgot what was going on for a minute. I liked how the Dr told me what was going to happen so I wasn't so worried.

I had a crown come off and they got me in less than 24 hours after I called. Dr. Daynes and his staff were able to get it taken care of to my husband’s and my relief and satisfaction. They are knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and kind. I highly recommend Dr. Daynes‘ practice!!

They were so kind from the minute I walked in to the moment I left. Their office is beautiful and very clean. I also felt they were up on the latest technology. They explained everything and made me feel comfortable. There is go guess on what your next visit will cost ( I have cavities), they explained what my insurance covers and anything it might not. I’ve held a grudge toward this practice for 10 plus years. I went to this dentist 10 plus years ago because of some discount coupon my mom found. Prior to this checkup I had NEVER had a cavity. He used some stupid laser and told me I had in the ballpark of 7 “cavities”. Even as ignorant as we were we still second guessed it but eventually this practice convinced us to pay the huge bill and fill the “cavities” I have seen many other dentists since. Ironically I have not had even one additional “cavity” I’ve had nothing but problems with the fillings Dr Dayne’s did. They snag and have had to be fixed multiple times. Dr. Daynes and his assistant were very kind and gentle with my five year old. She did a great job and they praised her really well for her good behavior. I feel Dr. Daynes does a great job.

I personally thought that I had no teeth worth saving. Dr. Daynes let me know what he could do to restore my teeth and not have the pain that my teeth have been causing me - can't wait to start work on getting my teeth fixed. Excellent communication about what could be accomplished - thank you!! Unlike the previous review, I have not been to a dentist for a few years and have taken care of everyone else's teeth in my family (daughters, grandkids) and so when I go to a dentist that actually takes the time to understand who I am and gives me ideas of what can be done with my breaking teeth, I am overwhelmed. Maybe if you see a dentist every 6 months for a regular checkup, you could be as bitter as the person writing a negative review - yet when you are very pleased with what Dr. Daynes tells you about saving your teeth, I think that you should reconsider judgment.

Dr. Daynes explains things when i ask questions. He's used to dealing with kids & I'm just a big kid senior citizen size. ;) he's always friendly & helpful. I've been his patient for about 5 years now. I just moved from Pleasant Grove to Orem & I'll still go & see Dr. Daynes every time.

I have been going to dentists for decades. Pleasant Dental was recommended. It was not a very good recommendation. Everyone that I interfaced with was pleasant. I have no complaints there. But, I was disappointed with the quality of the service I got. It might be laziness due to being ready for the holidays, incompetence, more reliance on x-rays than manual inspection, something else I am not aware of (like new technology or even prejudice), or some combination. I don't know. I just don't feel like I got the attention to my dental health that I have experienced numerous times in the past when I go to a dentist's office. I don't feel like I got a good value for my money (insurance dollars). When I arrived at Pleasant Dental, I filled out paperwork, including neatly printing my home address. I was notified by a phone call later that my Christmas card was returned because the address was incorrect. So, I guess my address was not entered carefully and successfully into the computer. For decades, my dental appointments consisted of 30-45 minutes with a dental hygienist at the start. The hygienists would do all kinds of work to remove plaque and tartar. They used mirrors to look at all angles of my teeth and used a variety of tools. They used suction regularly. At the end, they would polish my teeth and floss. I have found that many dental offices prefer to have the hygienists do the tiring work or removing plaque and tartar, and the dentist would stop in for a short visit to inspect the cleaned teeth for signs of disease, review the x-rays, and possibly attend to plaque and tartar in hard to reach areas. At Pleasant Dental, the hygienist only took the x-rays, polished my teeth, and flossed. No work on plaque or tartar at all. "OK" I thought, "Perhaps the dentist will be the one who will use various tools and mirrors to inspect my teeth and remove plaque and tartar?" The dentist at Pleasant Dental spent maybe 5 minutes on my teeth and removed a token amount of plaque/tartar. But, this dentist did not use mirrors and various tools to inspect the teeth or gums at each intersection of teeth, like I have experienced with numerous dentists over many, many decades. This dentist did not lift my tongue. This dentist didn't do much at all near my actual mouth. The dentist at Pleasant Dental instead told me I do a fantastic job at dental care! I have visited many different dentists in my life, and never has a dentist said that to me! I usually ask for a grade (A-F), and I get a B+ at most, but usually a C+/B-. I haven't really changed my dental habits over the years. I brush regularly, but I floss less often than I should. So, hearing that I was doing a phenomenal job was surprising. Especially because I had not been to a dentist in a few years due to relocating to a new state and working a lot at a new job. The odds that I would earn a grade of A were extremely low. Between the hygienist and the dentist at Pleasant Dental, very little time was spent on inspecting my teeth and removing plaque and tartar. I can't believe I had so little an amount because I always seem to have some (usually 30-45 minutes worth). I got minimum effort at Pleasant Dental. I left the office feeling like I did not get a proper dentist visit and that I had plaque and tartar left on my teeth. I didn't treat the staff inconsiderately at all. I was quite pleasant. And I don't have cold sores or anything else that would cause dental staff to want to avoid me. So I don't know why they would have opted to do the minimum. Now, I will have to wait 6 months before I can visit a dentist again per my insurance. But, I won't be going back to Pleasant Dental. I am giving them 3 out of 5 stars, which may be more than they deserve. But, my heart is assuming I have missed something and so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Such a great dentist and all around nice guy! I like how he showed me what needed to be done didn't just assume I was going to trust him. His assistant as so nice and sweet. The front desk was very knowledgeable about my insurance and broke things down so I could understand the costs and how my insurance works. I will be back for sure!

This place is a JOKE!!!! I have an infected tooth that has now caused other serious health issues due to DR. DAYNES and his stereotypic staff. I would give them less then a star but it won't let me. I came in about over a month ago with an infection that was going to the bone. It was very serious. Back in 2014 I was in an out patient rehab for 5 months and had a speedy recovery. I didn't see how this applies to my life threatening tooth. They saw me and called in the ONE antibiotic I was allergic too. I called the next morning and said I can't take this I'm allergic to it. The cunning receptionist said yes of course we will help you, we just need your payment. So I paid OVER $70 for one tooth scan. ONE!!! Not all 4, just the bottom right. Then she said let me ask the doctor what he wants called in and I'll call you back. Yeah 3 hours later and MUCH SUFFERING! She called me and said we say your 2013,2014 records and you need help so go get help. We won't be helping at all! And I said excuse me not even with an antibiotic? I have gone to this dentist for years and didn't have a bad experience until this last year when I went in for a check up. He inspected my teeth and told me that I had 3 cavities. I was astonished because I hadn't had any watch spots before when I had come in and I hadn't had any problems my entire life and all the sudden 3 cavities? So I told him I'd wait a little bit before I spend so much money trying to fix them because I wanted a second opinion. In a hurry to take my money the receptionist told me if I waited any longer I would have to get a root canal. WHAT? I was so upset so I went to a different dentist and he told me that those "cavities" were watch spots and not even close to an actual cavity. Dr. Daynes and staff are very respectful and personable. They listen and take the time to help placate our concerns, no matter how small or large. Just had my first check up with Pleasant Dental AND THEY ARE WONDERFUL!!! I always dread going to the dentist, but they were so kind and very informative. Highly recommend!

Dr. Daynes is awesome. I don't often give 5 stars but the staff is friendly and easy to work with, the office is quaint and Dr. Daynes is sharp. No complaints and very pleased.

I needed to get in asap because of really bad tooth pain and they got me in that day I called. The dentist was awesome and very nice. He checked me out and explained what needed to happen to get me feeling better. I would recommend anyone to this office

I have an intense skepticism of dentists. I have been to so many that try to sell me things I don't need or exaggerate conditions. Dr Danes is not that dentist. He took a few minutes to chat with me and get to know me on my first appointment, the woman at the front desk even remembered me when I came in to pick a friend up for a wisdom tooth extraction. I had been there once. When I went for my first check up and asked about getting a mouth guard and my remaining wisdom teeth out, he presented me with the easiest and cheapest options. I have never been to a more reasonably priced dentist in my life. I don't have stellar insurance either. I just got a filling and my wisdom teeth pulled and the procedure was quick and painless and I felt well taken care of. Dr Danes is a great guy and everyone that works there is incredibly kind. Lets face it no one really likes going to the dentist! But i am so glad i found Dr. Daynes! I first made an appointment for me and by the second visit i said that i would for sure stop going to our old dentist, which he was not to great. Dr. Daynes takes the time to explain eveything before, during, and after, and that makes it way less scary for kids especially. The dental assistants make u feel comfortable and for my 2 year old daughter being her very first visit they were gentle and didnt force the x-ray to be done, the dental assistant let her play around with some dental tools to get her comfortable before she cleaned her teeth, which i thought was awesome! I would for sure refer Dr. Daynes to anyone!

My son came in to Dr. Daynes to get some teeth pulled. My son had some baby teeth that just weren't coming out on their own and were causing him pain. He was very scared to go into the dentist for fear of pain. I was very impressed with the way Dr. Daynes handled this situation. He was very kind and gentle to him. He explained everything that he was going to do in a way that my son could understand and helped ease his anxieties. My son was able to calm down and let him pull the teeth. Dr. Daynes takes the time to be thorough in explaining why he is recommending the course of treatment, as well as what other options are available. I find him very competent in the technical aspects of dentistry, and several procedures he has done with me have turned out well with no complications. I would NEVER go to this Dentist! The office is dirty and the staff is very rude. I found him online for an emergency opening. Cancelled my follow up appointment which they denied receiving (have proof of) and they still tried to bill be $39.99 - Definitely do not recommend.

I hope none of you choose to entrust your mouth to this terrible dentist. He appears to be a nice guy on the surface, but when it comes down to it all he wants is your business and your money. My wife and I went to Dr. Daynes for about 6 months, and even though it started out okay, we quickly realized that he is simply not a good dentist. He "fixed" some things, and caused more problems with his fixes. RUNDOWN BUSINESS. Physically and cosmetically, this place is a dump. You walk up a flight of rickety stairs to the second floor that look and sound like they were built in the 1800's, and once you get inside, it looks like it's long overdue for a re-model. BEHIND THE TIMES IN TECHNOLOGY. My new dentist is Total Care Dental. They excel above Pleasant Dental in every way, including this one. Dr. Daynes uses archaic technology and uncomfortable tools in his practice. I don't know a lot about dentistry, but I can tell you that I've never felt so uncomfortable in a dentist chair in my life. Other dentists have TV's and/or music options, as well as other comfort measures to help with the naturally uncomfortable dentist office visit. ONLY CARE ABOUT GETTING YOUR MONEY AND BUSINESS. The ratings I'm finding everywhere are bogus. There is no way so many people think of this place as a five star place. Each time I would visit the office, they expect payment up front for your portion and are unwilling to see you unless the entire balance is met beforehand -- I can understand this kind of business, but when your mouth is in pain, you want to get it fixed now and work out payment issues afterwards... that's how most places work. Oh and they are unwilling to admit when they made a mistake and told you the balance was paid in full and they'll demand that money no less than 2-3 months AFTER the service rendered. Oh yeah, and when they invoice you, there will be no phone call, only an invoice with one line item saying "Balance Forward". When you call they will explain what it's for, but really? Who does business like this? TERRIBLE WORKMANSHIP AND SERVICE. My wife and I are in the process of declaring bankruptcy. We filed back in November, and didn't know we had a balance through Pleasant Dental until the middle of December for service done back in SEPTEMBER! They had told me over the phone that the balance had been paid in full in I think October, but then sent me one of the incredibly vague invoices aforementioned in the previous paragraph expecting us to simply pay it. I ignored the bills, knowing they would be discharged until the day they finally called me -- the first week of JANUARY. Apparently they weren't on the list of creditors, BUT instead of contacting my attorney like they are LEGALLY BOUND TO DO, they immediately send my account to collections breaking the law. Luckily, we won't have to pay these bills, but GEEZ! How crappy can you get!? Oh and working with the lady dealing with billing is a nightmare... Worst experience I have ever had at a dentist. I had cavities filled and my jaw hurt for days after and my teeth that had been worked on hurt for weeks after. I had to go to another dentist to fix the problem. The receptionist was quite rude and not pleasant to work with about a balance I had to pay. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone. Love this place!!!! I had a crown done and it looks and feels great. I brought my kids in for a check up and cleaning and they said he was the nicest Dentist they have ever seen. No cavities yay!!!

Our family has been going to Dr. Daynes for almost 8 years. We have finally found a dentist that we love! Every other dentist we have been through I have felt that I can't fully trust. I fully trust Dr. Daynes! I have been to dentists that just start doing work on you (ie. putting sealants in without telling you), and then expect you to pay. Dr. Daynes always explains what he feels is best before he does anything on you and tells you the cost. I completely trust his judgement. I have 4 children and many times I have needed to get in right away. They have always been very kind to me and have accommodated me. Dr. Daynes has excellent bedside manner. Can I just say he is one of the most gentle dentist I have ever been to. I barley felt the shot and the hour passed by before i knew it. They say root canals are painful, but mine was great. I felt the staff cared and i like how they tell you what your insurance will pay(estimated to pay) before they start so there isn't any surprise after. I think what people need to remember is that insurance is insurance and they do what they want. Iv'e never had a problem with there billing and they have always been great to bill my insurance and get them to pay. Love love this place! I've known Dr Daynes for a long time. He has always done great dental work for me. I just recently had a root canal. His work was very gentle. I have never had problems with his work...which includes fillings, root canals,crowns and implants! He also works with an incredible dental lab, which holds to a very high standard for crowns. Payments expected are the same as in other offices. Insurance is a tricky thing. Most patients need to take the time to understand their benefits. It is easy to blame the dental office for disappointments in how our insurance pays. Never the less, anything not covered by insurance is owed by the patient, this is true in every office. I come from a medical family and I am very particular about the medical and dental care my family gets. We have been going to Dr. Daynes for our dental care for the past nine years and have found him to be an exceptional dentist. I have found out that he has taken 2 extra years of post-dental school education. We are pleased that he stays up to date on the new techniques. This means a lot to us. We have noticed the state of the art equipment and cleanliness of the office. The office is in "old town" Pleasant Grove and we always enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere. I love Dr Daynes! He took so much time explaining my procedure to me. He always does and makes me feel so comfortable. I trust everything that he says. He is not the type of dentist that will nickel and dime you. He doesn't do any procedure that isn't necessary. I trust his judgement.

I had a great experience. They were even very patient with me and my very sensitive gag reflex.

I went here because they had an ad in the Money Mailer. I woke up with a horrible pain Sunday morning and I needed a Dentist pronto, they were able to fit me in first thing Monday. The staff were great and professional. I was told I had two massive cavities and would need 2 root canals. Dr. Daynes had accounting go over the cost with me before drilling which was appreciated. Dr. Daynes was able to do one of the root canals in one hour and I did not feel ANY pain. I have some future appointments to finish capping it and taking care of the other tooth.
