My wife and I have been patients with Dr. Deborah Lauridsen since her first practice in Oviedo - followed her to the Orlando Health office on Red Bug for her entire tenure. We don't see her as our Doctor but part of the family since we've shared so much throughout the years. Well, is time to part ways I'm afraid. Today I had a schedule appointment with PA Sari Stender since I haven't seen them for 2 years and needed refill for my blood pressure medicine. Prior to making this appointment - I called the office to get a refill of my medicine and was refused without an office visit first and the first available opening was 5 weeks out. So, I asked on the phone - I'm out of medicine so I'll go without medicine for 5 weeks until I'm seen? Is this what your practice is telling me? She paused - spoke with someone and they sent prescription and set appointment for today at 9:45am. I arrived early around 9:24am - nobody was in the front then a woman took seat and said 'Sir can I help you?' No good morning, no greeting, but I set aside - yes I have an appointment this morning 9:30 I believe - she said it's 9:45 Sir Again, I was taken back - still set aside - yes you're right. Proceeded with the Covid questionnaire and I answered all questions. Then she asked me 'Sir ARE YOU EMPLOYED?' ????? I'm 57 years old and I've been to hundreds of medical practice offices, hospitals, medical centers to accompany my children, my parents, my wife and in my 40plus years living in Orlando I have never EVER been asked by any medical business 'ARE YOU EMPLOYED?' I am still reeling from this it took me several seconds to take this in and try to understand why I was asked this - my mind still could not process it so I replied Yes I am Employed. Next, she said there's a $35 Co-pay Cash or Card I paid with a Card - still unable to understand the way I was being treated. Then two women came after me - they both received a 'Good morning' greeting and smile. Again, I'm trying to understand. One of them had a 9:30am with PA Sari Stender and she was given the Covid questionnaire as normal. However, there was no 'ARE YOU EMPLOYED?' question raised. Again, I'm at a complete loss - isn't this a violation of some form and to target a customer with this question and not everyone else - isn't this also another form of violation or discrimination of me or anyone asked this question? Again, I sat and waited - I was seen my gentleman who took my blood pressure etc - very clinical and efficient no effort made to know who I was or anything - okay - clinical it is - it continued down to PA Sari Stender who was very clinical and efficient but at least she showed a glimpse of bedside manner but you can see the entire atmosphere of the practice was like a mortuary extremely depressing, no smiles, no warmth, cold and clinical like a cold steel morgue table. At checkout, I was given the chance to complete my visit on a higher note - nope - no thank you, no good day, nothing. I've received higher gratification from a Pepsi vending machine and I hate Pepsi. I'm a Coke person but you get the gists. I immediately went back to the Orlando Health Red Bug office when Dr. Lauridsen last practice where I was always welcomed with bright smiles and kind service. The second I walked in, almost like a direct chime on the door, I received 'Good morning!' and a smile :-) With patients in the lobby I approached the front desk smiling and said thank you good morning - I was then asked if I had an appointment - I said no but told them again thank you. I explained how close I came to loosing complete faith in Orlando Health family practice centers but thanks to them I saw there is still hope as I shared my experience while patients listened in and nodded in agreement. Health care is the most personal decision we make in our daily living. People come to a medical office because they need CARE. A kind word, a smile, genuine empathy and respect is free yet it's priceless. And, last time I checked, EMPLOYMENT was not a prerequisite for receiving care right?

Fantastic doctor!!! She really takes the time to listen to each and every concern you may have about your own health. She will answer any question you have in detail, and she treats you like an intellect who has the ability to understand medical and scientific breakdowns and explanations. When I go to her office, she normally has a bit of a wait time to see her when you have an appointment, but is well worth the wait. Just bring your kindle or play a game on your phone. She is well-worth the wait. Her schedule for making appointments is usually booked out for a month or more, so make sure you call to make an appointment promptly when you need to see her. She is attentive and very caring. Gentle and highly intelligent. Really knows what she is talking about and has an expansive knowledge extending beyond most primary physicians. Even would drive down from Ocala, FL to see her. Fantastic doctor!!! She really takes the time to listen to each and every concern you may have about your own health. I love Dr. Lauridsen - would give her ten stars if I could. She is patient and attentive, I never feel rushed. She really helps me try to manage my conditions with the least amount of medicine necessary and gives me space to try to improve. She is super efficient too. I even have had the blood testing people (not at her office) comment on how efficient and well done her paperwork is anytime her patients have to get blood work done. I think the office is well run and I don't have any of the nightmare stories the other adults in my household have with their doctor offices. I felt like the keyboard of her laptop got more attention than I did. I transferred to this Dr because she was referred by my insurance company, I feel like I was referred to a robot. There have been a couple visits that I felt maybe she had an interest but when I address specific questions to this doctor it's almost like she doesn't want to answer because she needs to look it up first. I have been in the medical profession for over 20 yrs, this is the first time I've felt like my doctor was a student. Even when getting a referral from her it goes unattended.. when she is addressed to inform her of no response from a referral she just sits with a blank face. I've never felt so uncared for in my life.

I’ve worked in the medical field running medical practices for 20yrs. I have never seen “business” conducted like this. We waited 4 months for a physical exam that is required by the doctor before they see you as a patient for sick visits. The doctor was not warm and fuzzy. Left a lot to be desired with bedside manner so if you’re looking for compassion, look elsewhere. I believe my daughter has an infection and needs to be seen, but they are refusing to see her until a COVID test is completed and recommended CVS minute clinic. We called CVS COVID line for a test/appointment. There are no available appts at any CVS minute clinic anywhere. They also suggested going to urgent care which defeats the entire purpose of waiting 4 months to be seen in the first place. The office did not provide any assistance beyond that. They refuse to prescribe the test, they now require, so we could go to UCF to have the test done. My daughter’s infection will be left untreated until we receive COVID results from her walk in test I had to research to find - 7-10 days. The other schedulers called back 24hr later to tell us she can be seen 3 weeks from now. The left side of the office doesn’t know what the right side is doing and 3 weeks for a sick visit is ludicrous. From a medical professional, don’t waste your time or copay. I have been a patient of Dr. Deborah Lauridsen for years. In February I moved to Atlanta Georgia and coordinated my transfer of health care to my new doctor in Atlanta. I since moved back to Fl and acheduled a visit with Dr. Lairidsen 2 weeks ago for today. I went in and a person took me back and said they were refusing service because I had missed an appt in the past. I asked what I was supposed to do about my healthcare? I was told I would have to see someone else. I am a cancer survivor and need regular checkups. I also need prescriptions filled today. She was so totally unconcerned. I felt like such a non-person! Been going to Dr. L for the past six years. Recently trying to get an appt is crazy - like 7 weeks out. I usually request first thing in the morning because I have waited a long time before, but had a 1:15 appt finally and waited an hour before finding out there were still four people ahead of me. My family and I will be switching Dr's. I know she takes her time with her patients but then schedule realistically. I work full time and can't spend hours in the waiting room. The staff has ZERO customer service skills and were curt, dismissive and rude. Very disappointed. Editing to say that I called to get prescription refills today and whoever answered told me they would only give me 30 days and Dr. Lauridsen didn't want to see me again. I told them I doubted that and they hung up on me. Unprofessional and I can't wait to switch doctors. Been going to Dr. L for the past six years. Dr. Lauridsen is one of the few doctors who will actually listen to you and not run you out the door. I know for new patients it takes a while to get seen, but that’s because she is one of the best physicians in the area. She will work hard to make sure you are in the best care.

Dr. Lauridsen is an excellent doctor. She has been my primary care physician for the last 2 years and I believe that she is the best. She is brilliant, knowledgeable, very accurate in her diagnosis, and above all compassionate. She goes to infinity and beyond to provide you with the best care she can give you as her patient. I recently went to an ER doctor (Advent Health @ Winter Park) for a painful condition that developed inside my mouth and the P/A checked me for 30 seconds and didn't help me out and I left the emergency room in the same condition I arrived. I made an appointment to see Dr. Lauridsen for the same ailment and after she asked me all the possible questions about symptoms, as soon as she examined me, without hesitation she told me "this is this and this and it is treated with this". In fact she was surprised that the ER doctor missed the symptoms because they are very specific. She explained the medicine I would need and she guaranteed me it will take care of it and I will be feeling better soon. That's how great she is. Dr. Lauridsen listens and takes her time to explain the best course of action and to answer your questions. Three days after, I'm still in the midst of taking the prescription and I have seen the symptoms started to subside and relief from pain is already manifesting. I highly recommend Dr. Deborah Lauridsen if you are looking for a great doctor to help you with your overall health. Thank you Dr. Lauridsen and thank you to all the office staff and nurses! After trying half a dozen doctors over twenty years, I am very happy to have Dr. Lauridsen as my family doctor, for now five years. I value most of all that she listens, brings enough time, remembers what was discussed last visit, and explains options. I don't expect a doctor to know right away everything about everything, but I value a lot that she is willing to follow up and look into on complicated topics and questions. The quality of your doctor will show when you have a complex or serious problem, not when you go there with a cough or hangnail, and I feel comfortable that she will be up to it if I ever need it. I also value timeliness - I rarely wait ten minutes past my appointment time, whereas other doctors had me sit an hour in the waiting area and then in the room for 90+ minutes regularly. Her offical handles appointments and financials correctly and quickly; this is unfortunately also not a given in many other places. Finally, it is great that she and her office embrace modern approaches like communicating standard requests like refills, test results, and appointments through the website. When I went to my appointment last December, she was an hour and a half late and didn't apologize. After that, it went downhill even more. I was experiencing high levels of fatigue... Her answer? "Well, a lot of things cause fatigue." I had to ask for tests for viruses and other tests myself. She obviously didn't want to deal with it. She could have at least referred me to a specialist. She diagnosed me with chronic fatigue but said she didn't know what to do for that. Obviously I don't need that label as I already knew. She also misdiagnosed me with a sinus infection which and ENT said I didn't have which costs a huge amount of money. I don't recommend at all. Dr Lauridsen has a very empathic manner and listens well, offers good care. Her office staff is unacceptable & I have recently fired them as my provider. 2 reasons; Since when did hipa agreement become a 5 page contract? I signed I read however did not initial next to specific provisions (1 allowing 3rd parties to contact you via phone). Office staff told me I would not be seen by the DR. I have not signed with other providers similar contracts with no problem. I was told the Dr would not see me if I did not agree. I will find a new dr. #2: Not following covid 19 protocol; 4 staff 1 with out mask, 1 mask under nose, 1 mask under chin, 1 properly wearing a mask all with open air contact with patients. No had sanitizer, no social distance seating requirements in office.

It’s all about getting your copay, not about helping you as a patient. When I needed someone to get with my pharmacy to make sure I could continue my life saving medications I was refused. Despite having a current prescription and being out of town I was told because I couldn’t be seen they would not make sure my meds were available to me which put my life at risk. I will never know what kind of Dr she is. Her staff (Nurse) is rude. They want you to agree to pay them if I miss an appointment. Then I sat in the office for over an hour without being seen. When I asked if this was normal I am got an sometimes, we run behind. Really, surprise my time is just as important as yours. I would understand if there had been an emergency but there was no reason just but bad management and no regard for the patients they're seeing. I will be finding a doctor who cares.
