I don’t like to leave bad reviews but I have to on this one. Dr Ortiz did not listen to my concerns and I was glad I went to get a second opinion, as I did have cancer and it was not ok to biopsy and wait 6 months like he(Dr. Ortiz) wanted to do. I didn’t want a biopsy I wanted the removal(surgery) as I was concerned it was going to spread or get worse. I understand being understaffed but this is my health I am concerned about. If you aren’t as concerned as me then maybe you shouldn’t be taking more patients if it’s overwhelming you and not going to take properly care or attention to patients. The staff was amazing I was treated amazing by them all besides Dr. Ortiz.

Dr. Ortiz was the nicest person! Very attentive and knowledgeable. So happy with him. My parents have been seeing him for 40 years and he remembers them every time.

Dr. Ortiz is flat out the best doctor I have ever been to. He is caring, very knowledgeable, personable, he truly cares about your health. Dr. Ortiz misdiagnosed me with prostatitis, then had me take an extended course of a very dangerous antibiotic - ciprofloxacin. I have sense had issues from Cipro toxicity (peripheral neuropathy - my hands do not work as well anymore, I can no longer play guitar). I later discovered from a different doctor that I had no bacterial infection in my prostate. I had Myofascial pain syndrome, that's it. I treated it, and my bladder urgency problems went away. I also had Dr. Ortiz perform a varicocelectomy surgery on me - which failed. I was surprised because I heard the surgery had a success rate of over 90%. Another red flag flew up when he kept changing the story. I asked "when will the varicocele go away?" And he said 3 months. I came back when the varicocele was still there and he said 6 months. I came back at 6 months then he said 1 year. It seems like quite a long time for the varicocele to disappear after the surgery. I read online that it should take up to 12 weeks, but he is saying a whole year? Additionally it is VERY difficult to reach him if you have a question. Most of my medical questions went unanswered until he finally sat down with me during a scheduled appointment, and even then, he was very brief, seemed like he was not too interested in my problems, and eager to get to the next patient. *** Update I have since moved this down to 3 stars, I had an issue with my insurance and his office left me to deal with the entirety of the situation. I’m not sure what happened but they just stopped calling me to schedule appointments. I have since switched Urologist, because the hormone replacement therapy that I was being treated for, still needed treatment. Frustrating to say the least. Dr. Ortiz is hands down the the best Urologist in the Area. In the few years I have not once had an issue with his staff, in fact; they have helped me through more hurdles (insurance, scheduling, kids being sick, et Al) The MA, pathology and nursing staff is also top notch. Every one runs like a well oiled machine, with out them I think Dr. Ortiz would run off the rails. (He is a talker) which is amazing. This is a great office with great staff. Let me be clear, Dr. Ortiz himself is great. His staff not so much! Purposely booked an appointment for my dad weeks later than I could have to complete two tests in one trip because we live so far away and I have to miss a half day of work to get him there. Arrived today to learn Dr. Ortiz wasn’t available and instead of calling MY number which I provided during the last visit, they called my father who has dementia and can no longer work a phone! As if that wasn’t bad enough, 2 hours to get a sonogram and for a PA to come say yep you’ll need to schedule a visit with the Dr. I don’t like wasting my time and I sure don’t like it being wasted by incompetent people. Nice clean office, kind and attentive staff, minimal wait time to see physician. Asked and answered questions in professional manner. Considerate and thorough with exam.follow up care explained in detail.

After seeing multiple urologist I found Dr Ortiz and within 5 minutes I knew what was going on and started the process for the xiaflex treatments and I urge anyone that is suffering From peyronies to give it a try. It definitely saved me from having a miserable life.

I Never leave reviews but Dr Ortiz definitely deserves one he is hands down the best urologist around!! I know that sometimes he does have a bit of a long wait time and you don’t always get seen at your exact appointment time but to me that just means he is taking the time with his patients and trying to be as helpful as he can to get to the root of every problem or issue for his patients which is hard to find in some doctors. I had been to two other urologist before Dr Ortiz and I was getting so frustrated that they couldn’t figure out what was going on and didn’t take the time to try which was more frustrating cause I felt like no one was believing me and just how much pain I was in but Dr Ortiz believed me & and explored all options and he wasn't giving up until we found a solution . I remember my first appointment he said I promise we will do whatever it takes to get you feeling back to normal and pain free and he definitely kept that promise. I have been patient for over 10 years and I have never had a single problem with Dr Ortiz or his staff.

BEST DR IN TEXAS, AWESOME GUY, GREAT BEDSIDE MANNERS, EASY TO TALK TO. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. WORTH THE WAIT TIMES THAT PEOPLE TALK ABOUT. LONG LINES MEANS ITS GOOD.

He seems to want to know his patients. For me he gave me several options with the pros & cons of each & I chose one. This helped only a little & I chose another. His staff is excellent. It is true that the waiting time can be overlong, but they work in patients who need immediate attention. In addition, he will spend the time it takes with a patient that it needs, not what is scheduled. I don't mind the wait as long as I receive the attention I need. I do not want the Dr telling me my course of treatment, I want to choose. I realize each person has a different chemistry & what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. Overall a great experience. Everyone was very professional and kind from the moment my husband arrived. Dr. Ortiz and his nurse, Nikki, were so helpful and thorough. We will definitely come back and will refer our family and friends to this office. Thank you Dr Ortiz and office for taking great care of your patients.

Office lacks the professionalism to let you know that they are running HOURS behind. No regard for your time or constraints. The waiting room is tiny, shoulder to shoulder patients, all waiting hours to for an appointment scheduled a month in advance.

I would usually have to wait 30 min. to an hr.one time I was forgotten for an hour waiting on a consult. That I really could have got past but The SURGEY he insisted I was a perfect candidate for DID NOT WORK. I could not walk for two day after the surgery from the painful position my legs were in during surgery.Then his office continued to tried to charge me every time I went back to find out why the surgerydid not work ! Im sure they got money from my insurance company witch I believe is wrong. Then He said I was a rare case and my bladder would just need to retrain itself with medication. He gave me a medication that he said I could NOT take for long period of time then forgot he said that and claimed it could be taken for long periods. He never apologized or responded when I tried to get my money back. He just kept saying it's ok Don't get discouraged! Really? I have since gone to a different a doctor because I could no longer trust Dr.ortiz . The new Doctor has been very thorough showing me where my sling should be even demonstrating with pressure on my bladder and I know it will work because when I cough no matter how hard I did not leak. That new doctor did 5 different test on me. One of only 2 test were done by doctor ortiz's and his nurse did theirs was not at all as thorough as the new doctor of witch I could tell was through. I wish I could go into details my point is though doctor ortiz is not updating his knowledge and skill about his profession he is going off old knowledge that doesn't work and he does not get a full and through assessment. Dr. Ortiz may be a wonderful doctor but the horrible wait time is like going to the DMV! Stop overbooking and treating people like cattle in a tiny cage called a waiting room! This is typical if you are going to be a patient here. Waiting an hour half now just to take my mother in for a checkup and to refill medications. THIS IS UTTERLY REDICULOUS!! I wait in the car because you are elbow to elbow due to the overbooking and understaffing. I can count 4 to 5 people going in and usually 1 to 2 coming out during that time. What can I say about this amazing man . He is funny and caring really takes his time to talk with you and understand what you are going through. And his staff is amazing I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Great guy, Great skills combined with bedside manner. If you’re looking for a Urologist that possesses skill that actually cares about their patients, Dr. Ortiz is it.

Dr. Ortiz is probably the friendliest, most engaging physician I've ever had. He always turns and looks at me when we're speaking instead of just staring at his computer screen. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

My regular Dr. recommended Dr Ortiz after I had a botched bladder surgery from another urologist. Dr Ortiz is very professional and has excellent bedside manner. He listens to his patients concerns and thoroughly discusses all options to correct or control urological issues. I will continue to use him as my urologist even though I have refused male Dr's in the past. He is very trustworty as well as kind.

He started off strong on the first visit. Then the second visit he didn’t care no more. Typical drs get you in the door then don’t want to fix you just medicate you. If I could put no stars I would.

I came to Mr. Ortiz post op RP and post radiation, Stage 3 prostate cancer. I needed him for quarterly PSA test and Lupron injections. However having noticed blood on urine I called on Ortiz. He had me to a renal ultra sound and a FISH test. On my return visit, this was my experience: Mr Ortiz: "Well one of the tests came back from inconclusive" and then he just looked at me and said "what do you think we should do, I mean I could scope you, did you have blood in urine, did you leave a urine sample, I guess I could give you antibiotics, so are you sure you have blood in urine, maybe I should check your urine, what do you think we should do, I mean, do you have blood in the urine, hold on I'll be right back - 10 min later, hi how can I help you today?.... arrrrrrghh. If you need a real Urologist, and you have a real problem don't go to this hack. Also, when you arrive at his waiting room you find a huge number of men in waiting room, all with an appointment to see the same doctor at the exact same time. One of the Great ones! Rare combination of skill combined with bedside manner. If you’re looking for a Urologist that possesses skill that actually cares about their patients, you should look no further. I’ve been seeing him for over a decade and I can’t imagine going elsewhere.

Dr. Ortiz is very personable. He takes time with each and every patient as though you were his family. He is very thorough making sure he finds the correct treatment plan for you. I wouldn't want to see anyone else regardless of the wait time. He is worth it

My wife and I both use Dr. Ortiz. me for Kidney Stones and related issues and my wife for other matter I am not free to discuss. When we needed immediate help Dr Ortiz and staff got us in right away . Called several other urologist and waiting list was weeks. Just for fitting us in when we most needed it he deserves 5 stars review... I read a few reviews that dont give high marks but that is not my nor my wife's experience. Dr. Ortiz he helped us when needed and the staff has always been good.

We were able to get an appointment next day and didn't have to wait very long.

Horrible experience. Walked into a completely packed waiting room at 2:40 for a 3 o'clock appt. Fill out all the new patient forms and asked the receptionist how long the wait was. She casually said, "At least an hour." Like we were just a bunch of sheep and didn't have lives. She explained to me that that was how they always scheduled. I walked out. Never again!

Third time here First time not that bad Second time waited 2 hours to be seen Show up at 1558 for a 1600 appt 6-7 patients in front of me Not doing this again The staff here , including manager Vicki , show blatant disregard in valuing their patients time Vicki, the appointed manager, said she could give my medical documents to see another urologist for $25 or go online - more inconvinece They (the staff) speak like this is normal too (extreme wait times) Also their credit card

Always a long wait. Be prepared to spent an hour or more.
