Dr Ashmead has got to be 1 of the best if not the best hand surgeon out there , he is patient understanding and is always there if I have a question pertaining to my elbow

He’s now done 4 nerve surgeries on me starting at the age of 16. He’s been absolutely wonderful! The only doctor to listen and look into my problems when no one else would.

I arrive early, because -- shocking! -- more often than not, I get called early! I'm pleased, as well, that the office appears to be trying to keep bureaucracy, e.g., forms, to a minimum, despite the best efforts of the medico-corporate complex. Dr Ashmead and his rehab staff are the best. They are all very patient in both listening and helping with my recovery from Carpel Tunnel Surgery. I have had at least four appointments and have never waited to be seen for more than five minutes.

Very caring, knowledgeable doctor. I feel very comfortable with him operating on my mother's hands which have been severely damaged by rheumatoid arthritis. I have now had my own surgery with Dr.Ashmead for carpal tunnel. I came in wanting laproscopic surgery and went with the traditional approach because I trusted Dr.Ashmead and his nearly invisible incisions on my Mom's hand. Very caring, knowledgeable doctor. I was very pleased with Dr. Ashmead!! He was very friendly and knowledgeable!!! The gentleman that fitted me for splints was extremely friendly but the receptionist was not very friendly at all. This person is supposed to be over the top friendly to start the patients experience out positive. Overall good experience.

Exceptional surgeon, exceptional staff. Dr Ashmead and the staff at The Hand Center are simply exceptional. Not only is Dr Ashmead a talented surgeon, but he is warm, thoughtful and considerate. | travel almost 3 hours to see him and choose him over doctors in NH and Boston because of his approach and plan to help me reduce pain and regain function in my arthritic hands. If you're looking for a hand surgeon who is innovative and reflective, realistic and responsive, with a great personality... who is supported by exceptional, helpful and kind staff, consider Dr. Ashmead and the Hand Center. For hand therapy, Jan is a true gift. She helped me recover from 3 surgeries and was honest and encouraging. Her out of the box thinking and creative solutions made my recovery easier. The Glastonbury office is my preferred location. Parking is convenient. Hartford is also nice but parking can be a challenge. Surgery in both locations felt safe and state of the art. Dr. Ashmead cared for both of my minor sons for a buckle fracture in wrist and a chip fracture in thumb. He offered molded, removable casts. His care was thorough and both have healed nicely.

We love this office and Dr. Ashmead. We have had to visit Dr. Ashmead for three surgeries over the past 12 years. He is kind and patient with our kids and treats them with respect. We have felt extremely safe visiting the office during Covid.
