I am very pleased with my care from Dr. Cahill. He shows much concern for his patients. He will explain fully and shows compassion for his patients.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cahill’s for about 5 years. He has always been professional,positive, courteous, and empathetic with my ailments. I trust him with my orthopedic needs.

Apparently, Cim Ka is talking about a doctor I have never known, after going to Dr. Cahill about 25 years. Maybe he caught him on a bad day, like most of us have bad days. But in contradiction to the preceeding review, I will never let another orthopedic surgeon work on me! My husband and I are both 74, and we have never known Dr. Cahill to make a medical mistake on either of us or be nothing but confident in his skills. We both have had bad knees replaced, and both spent much time with Dr. Cahill in his office. He takes time to fully explain what is happening to the area in our body that he is trying to fix for us. We realize how very busy he is, and he definitely likes to keep “on schedule” with his time with his patients so as not to keep other patients waiting. In other words, he likes efficiency! I feel like we know him, professionally, and know to expect nothing but top notch treatment, whether operating or explaining things to us. Does he sometimes get annoyed? Of course! We all do! Why should he be different? But if you allow him to be human, to have some days when he is not “Dr. Personality,” and you want to be sure you have a doctor who is very competent, knowledgable, and a problem solver, then you can rest assured you have come to the right doctor! He will NOT operate if there is another solution. He is NOT knife happy! And he does not expect others to do things he can’t. If you don’t think this doctor is good at what he does, then you have not experienced it as my husband and I have. We fully feel he saved both our lives, but he is very modest and would find reason to doubt that! But my hubby was close to death about 5 years ago with an all body sepsis. The infection had settled in his titanium knee. When he saw my hubby in the hospital with a high fever, infection, etc., he went into action. He started giving orders like I had never seen, calmly but very confident and with a plan. He operated immediately on that knee and cleaned it out. Hubby got quickly better. Infection often travels to a prothesis, so this was nothing the doctor had caused;only saved his life when nothing else had worked for two weeks! ! A week ago, he recognized that there was something physically wrong with me. Before a minor, but invasive, procedure he was to do on me, my vitals were crazy and I had poor oxygen, yet I felt OK. He insisted I go straight to my cardiologist or to an ER. When I hesitated, he demanded that I go today, not tomorrow! I ended up with 6 days in the hospital and a massive pulmonary embolism in the main vein between my lungs, two more at the bottom of my lungs and another behind my left knee. Yes, he saved my life, as I am stubborn and would not have gone to the ER without recognizing HIS voice of concern and urgency. If you want a doc with personality, but lesser skills, then Dr. Cahill is not your man! But if you want a doc who knows what he has to do and does it, then go no further! I will never let another orthopedic surgeon work on us! My husband & I are both 74, & we have never known Dr. Cahill to make a medical mistake on either of us. To the contrary, we feel he has saved both of our lives (at different times). I don’t have time or space here to go into details, but please believe me! He’s confident & good!

More than any other physician with whom I have dealt during my long life, I trust Dr. Cahill. I met him after a traumatic accident, and he was both competent and a straight-shooter. I saw him many times, and every time I left with a sense of knowing that I understood where I stood in terms of my injuries, and what my prognosis was. I would go back to him in a heartbeat. Alpine Orthopedic is probably the most streamlined medical office I have ever encountered. Some people might find this off-putting, but they make it work and the costs are lower here than in some other places because they are so efficient. I would not recommend this orthopedic physician to anyone. Although he was nice during the initial visit, I am not exactly sure what happened that changed his bedside manner for the worse during the last two office visits. As soon as he became flustered or agitated with something the patient was telling him, he began to come off rude and was disrespectful in his tone of voice and actions during both visits-he has very little patience. Also, it is quite evident that the focus for him is to make money versus comprehensively treat or help his patients. In order to fill out a two-page functional capacity questionnaire for a disability claim, which had simple check-off multiple-choice items and was 10 questions long, he required payment of $200 dollars up-front in order to fill out the document at the end of the day or when he had time. Absolutely ridiculous because this same form was filled out by a primary care physician who knew his patient just as well in about 5-10 minutes at no charge! If you are searching for an orthopedic physician to treat your condition instead of look for tests, paperwork, and physical problems to profit from, I highly suggest a different physician, with better customer service skills. We will not be going back to Dr. Cahill or Alpine Orthopedic Group, as the office staff is very unfriendly as well. FYI: I understand physicians are fed up with people applying for disability due to fake complaints and health problems, but it is not fair to put all patients applying for disability into this category. There are some people out there who really need the assistance of such programs, with my family member being one of those people in need. In addition, as someone in the healthcare field myself; I have learned first and foremost that all patients should be treated with respect and without bias or judgment. Ultimately the problem may come down to health care reform, but that does not excuse this physician’s bedside manner. I would not recommend this orthopedic physician to anyone.
