I just called the this doctor at the Yorba Linda office. The reception Martha was a pain to work with. When I requested an appointment, She started and insisted to ask my SSN, marital status, birthday and so on to register me before she could tell me how soon I could see the doctor or ask what my insurance is. She was tough when I told her I will register after I get an appointment time and said she could not schedule me without asking those private information. I had to interrupt her to help her figure out how front desk usually works: Find first opening date and time, verify insurance and then go into the details of registration. If you were like me trying to find a dermatologist part of your health insurance’s network and in your area. PLEASE GO TO SOMEONE ELSE. TLDR: Incompetent doctor, Dr. Smith will waste your time and money. I saw her for a type of dermatitis and she prescribed me a bunch of medications that did NOT work. I saw her over the course of two months, hoping she would help me. I went back to my hometown and saw a dermatologist recommended to me by a family friend. The medication she prescribed me instantly cleared up my dermatitis and I only saw her ONCE. Later on, I had questions about charges I was getting months after seeing Dr. Smith and billing told me I had to ask her. She asked why I had cancelled our last appointment and I told her its because I saw a different dermatologist. She asked what they had prescribed. When I told her the name, she was like “Yea thats what we usually prescribe.” It was NOT any of the medications she had prescribed to me. Very organized Doctors office. Dr Smith is very attentive. would highly recommend her.

Dr Smith is an excellent doctor. I have seen her on many occasions and she did a much more detailed check up then past doctors I have seen. staff very helpful as well. Highly recommend her.

After 4 months of treatment by my Internist and two Dermatologists, I was referred to UCI Dermatology. I took the first available appointment. I initially saw Dr. Patrick Lee who does not specialize in dermatitis. He provided me with Dr. Smith's standard dermatitis treatment plan and prescribed two other medications. This finally put me on the road to recovery. I subsequently saw Dr. Smith twice. If not for Dr. Smith and the tram at UCI Dermatology, I fear I would still be in pain with no cure in sight. Dr. Janellen Smith is an exceptional dermatologist. I have been her patient for years. I am active outdoors and want to ensure that none of my numerous moles are exhibiting signs of skin cancer. She is very thorough during exams, takes time to explain differences in my moles, and makes me feel at ease. Her staff is professional, friendly and helpful. I literally trust her with my life. This doctor is an incompetent crook. She misdiagnosed a growth. I went to a second doctor who diagnosed it as skin cancer and removed it. She didn't remove it correctly or biopsy. She was more interested in selling me cosmetic procedures. The worst of it was I was billed $1154 for an annual dermatological exam. By comparison, the second doctor not only effectively diagnosed and treated me but only charged $498. He actually provided more services. His bill included a biopsy, which hers didn't. This is the worst medical experience I've ever encountered. UCI has been horrible to work with to get this invoice resolved. This doctor is an incompetent crook. She misdiagnosed a growth. Dr. Smith is an amazing doctor!

Excellent dermatologist! Expert in complex skin conditions and impeccable bedside manner. Always an enjoyable visit.

My son sees Dr Smith for a serious case of excema He had suffered for 5 years, and she was the first Doctor to diagnose his condition correctly. She determined the best medicine for him was Dupixent Injections. Insurance kept denying it, but she and her team wrote many letters to them and it was finally approved. My son is remarkably well since starting this medication. Dr Janellen Smith and her team always kept his best interests in mind. She is a dedicated Dr, teacher and caring human.

This doctor is highly incompetent. She misdiagnosed a skin cancer which was biopsied and removed by another doctor. She was more interested in selling me expensive cosmetic procedures. I was billed $1154 for a basic annual exam. The second doctor I went to charged me only $498, which included removal and biopsy of a growth. UCI has been absolutely horrible about resolving this issue.

She won't confirm a diagnosis I already have. I went to see her for the 1st time in August of last year. I know what is wrong with me I had 3 different Doctors working to find it. Well they did and due to the extreme rarity of the disease I needed to see a specialist. I was referred to her after three different dermatologist s couldn't help me. My first visit she was great doing biopsies of a secondary complaint I had and had me sign several requests for medical records to this day no records. I was even the subject of grand rounds she didn't even tell me what they thought til I asked and she said they wanted to see the biopsy slides from the biopsy my other seem did which was of the primary reason to see her. They still don't have them. I was finally told after several complaints to talk to customer care who sent me a dorm to file a complaint. The form is jyst a How was your visit form. To recognize an employee for how they were with your visit. I have no choice the next Dr that knows anything is in Arizona from what I'm told. I'm on permanent disability I can't afford that. So basically I'm dying and no one can help me. Stay away het staff and interns are incompetent. She doesn't give a hoot about her patience. She's going to kill someone and she'll probably get away with it. Please if you value your life and your family go elsewhere. I beg you. Dr. Smith is highly incompetent and grossly negligent. She dismissed my skin symptoms as totally normal on 2 separate visits. I got a second opinion about 8 months later and thank goodness I followed my gut feeling as I had 2 skin cancer operations. One was basil cell the other an aggressive form of squamous cell. Had I not gone somewhere else, I could be dead. Do NOT TRUST THIS DOCTOR, she could end up costing you your life!

Dr. Smith is a wonderful doctor. Her follow up is amazing. She called me 2x regarding a biopsy until she got ahold of me. She has a great bedside manner and puts you at ease immediately with your questions and concerns.
