Dr. Kirk Edwin Maes

A month ago Mason Hinkle (24) was injured when helping a friend trim some trees. Went to the ER at Homes (because he was in Mel) and they x-rayed it and he had a fracture of his tibia. He was referred to an orthopedic in Melb but they did not accept his insurance. I called his primary care Dr and she sent a referral into Dr Maes who has seen Mason since kindergarten with all of his injuries. After waiting a week for records and a week while Dr Maes was on vacation I just received a phone call this morning saying they were not going to except Mason as a patient. Not that they didn’t except his insurance that they were not going to take him as a patient. She said Dr Maes mainly does surgeries. I said Mason may need surgery because Holmes never addressed his knee issue. I have never heard anything like this and I questioned the girl. I explained that Mason had been going to Dr. Maes since he was in kindergarten for the majority of his broken bones and that is why I had his primary care

Very caring professional with a great sense of urgency. Dr Maes went out of his way to explain the care I was receiving.

Love this doc. Long wait but once with him he's good listener, gave me amply time to discuss options. Treated me in office and significantly reduced my chronic pain. Will only go to him

My husband and I have had several procedures done by Dr. Maes. He cares about his patient’s. It may take a long time to get in to see him because he is popular. He does good work though.

He is the best orthopedic surgeon in Sebastian Florida. he takes the time to answer all your questions in detail. Most people want to go to his practice so you may wait for an appointment, but it is worth it. He is also personable and has caring assistants and staff.

Dr Maes is the best of the best. I suffered with a shoulder injury for 5 years and I would not let anyone touch me as I was still dealing with wounds on my leg from getting run over by a truck. I finally could not sleep from the pain in my shoulder and could not have an MRI. Dr Maes went into my shoulder pretty much blind. He completed my surgery scoping it. I am going to HIGHLY recommend him, he spends time with you, listens to you, and weighs out all other options. Only down side is you might have to wait an hour plus, BUT HE IS DEFF. WORTH IT. !!!!!

Excellent surgeon I've had replacements before in Colorado but this surgeon is the best one I could ever recommend very little pain and the doctor also has a first class PA!

Awesome Doctor and staff.. They were straight up front with me about surgery and what to expect....I had a total reverse shoulder replacement at 53 yrs old. On my Birthday in December.. They didn't have much to work with on my shoulder for I had to continue to work till nothing left of shoulder and arm.. They told me what to expect after surgery and have been Honest and Helpful and Polite through all..They did a great job with a extreme trainwreck and I thank all for the help.. I have seen this Dr a few times for my knee ! My last appt was for a trigger thumb! He gave me a cortisone injection! I have to say that it hurts like hell, and for a few minutes, I didn't like him very much! But it has been a few days, and my thumb is 90% better! So now he's back in my good grace! Lol!

Dr. Maes always takes the time to listen to what I had to say about my pain. Also he is very thorough about my situation. Very pleased with Dr. Maes.

I wish this doctor could be cloned so I could have him for all my other doctors. The first time I went to see him I was a little disappointed because I waited 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment time but when he walked in the room and started to talk to me I fully understood why I had waited. This man is very down-to-earth and actually takes his time with patients. He treat you like a real person and not cash in his pocket. His staff is also top notch always a kind word and a smile they have even under their masks LOL. Like I said this Dr should be cloned so he can cover other areas or at least he should give classes to the doctors that are out there so they'd remember what real doctors are like. I'm facing a couple surgeries with him and I know exactly what to expect, what could go wrong, and how long recovery will be. Dr. Maes listens closely and offers practical advice. Obviously he is a seasoned professional and has all the experience necessary for diagnosing and treating his patients, but he also explains things carefully and takes his time to answer any concerns. I highly recommend this physician.

I went and seen Dr. Maes today for a broken wrist. He explained everything to me to where I could understand it and he explained the surgery I must have on Monday and everything he was going to do and how it would turn out. The whole staff was very pleasurable and easy to talk to. They all knew their jobs, Very knowledgeable. I would recommend Dr. Kirk Maes To anyone with an orthopedic problem. I have been seeing him for years as well as my husband and we have both been extremely satisfied with his work. Am so grateful that I came under the care of Dr. Maes. He has a very caring nature and wants me moving and doing and that fits my life style. Am not certain how it happened but will be eternally grateful to him for moving me to #1 on my day of surgery. Am telling neighbors and friends how grateful I am to have him as my doctor. Worst doctor ever.

I had checked in and was sitting in the waiting room for 2 (two!) hours. The doctor promised to call me within two business days to schedule next appointment but never called.

Still sitting in waiting room for 45 minutes. Show up on time but your time not important. Incompetent front staff member in handling the numerous clients. Must be in this for the money only. Overbooked and incompetent.

Can they be more helpful and excited when they answer the phone ??

Went to this doctor for knee pain, said knee was good gave me a series of shots, not sure why. The pain got worse, I called and was told it may be coming from my back, go see another doctor. No suggestions for care, nothing.

The BEST ORTHOPAEDIC DOCTOR EVER. I had total knee replacement and it really made a difference. Kristy and Julie and everyone at the office are fabulous. I feel like they go the extra mile. Wonderful folks. I highly recommend this Doctor Maes.

DR MAES PERFORMED TWO TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENTS( T.H.R.) 2011 & 2012 . DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM FOR ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY.

Scheduling is great Checking in- is the best. While my husband drives I check in on my way. Atmosphere is good and attending your needs is excellent. All this pertains to everyone on staff. Office is clean thats a plus.

Very bad experience after breaking 3 bones in my ankle. Dr Maes was Dr on call at hospital. He operated to put ankle back together. Unfortunately, he did a very poor job. Six months later, bones were still not fused and I was in extreme pain. I went to 3 different Drs for second opinions. Each one said ineffective rod and cord had to be removed, so proper hardware could join the bones. Surgery in June by Pa. Dr, bones fused in 8 weeks. Always get second opinions, even in emergency situations.

Bait and switch operation. Bilking the elderly. Called his office asking if he does hip revisions and was told yes. Took my 88 year old mom to his office an hour away. They took the $50 copay, took an ex-ray and made us wait two hours just to have Maes walk into the room to say he doesn't do revisions and walked out of the room. They refused to give us our $50 back and took no blame for anything.. STAY AWAY!!!
