Dr. Melanie Russell Blackstock

Dr. Blackstock was okay. Very soft spoken and nice demeanor. I like that she gave me an informative packet of information that included personal recommendations for reading and such. I also like that she told me some about her own track record with deliveries and such when we met. One thing I found very odd was how heavily she focused on my diet early on in my pregnancy despite me not having gained any weight. She asked to hear in great detail about what I eat, and criticized each item. She told me rice of any kind is something I should NEVER eat, and yogurt should be treated as a dessert. I understand diet is important in pregnancy, but when I had to switch OB’s the new doctor never once asked what I eat or focused on that. My dr. retired and I was set up with Dr. Blackstoke. I drove 2 hours to get the appointment, waited in the waited room for over an hour before being called in to the exam room. Once in the exam room I was abandoned for another 40 minutes. I left never having seen the doctor; there was no one at the nurses station or even in the waiting room. I left very upset because I was having an issue that required attention, (though not emergency) NO one ever called to ask why I left. While in the waiting room I observed the staff.... a lot to be desired there...…! My dr. retired and I was set up with Dr. Blackstoke. It took me years to write this review because my negative experience wasn’t as solidified until I visited another provider who was a world away from Dr. Blackstock. I had a difficult experience during my annual exam and I felt that Dr. Blackstock failed to treat the whole patient. Though her urgency to complete the exam may have seemed harmless, having to power through that experience impacted my relationship with my reproductive health. If you need a doctor to take their time, listen to your trauma and be diligent to treat the whole patient, I do not recommend Dr. Blackstock. Extremely irresponsible doctor and unprofessional staff. Could give 0 stars if it was possible. - Visited Dr. Melanie in July for a few tests. I was informed that certain tests take couple of days to process and that they would get back to me once the results were in. Called them after 2-3 days and was advised to wait. Couple of weeks passed and finally when I called them, someone notifies me that they had misplaced my sample. Hence their system had no record of the test and therefore there was no test result. Their suggestion was that I retake the test if my symptoms reappear. They did not bother communicating about this nor care to share the assessment on other tests. - It was during this visit that the staff asked me to fill out a health form as I was a new patient. Yet after doing so and handing them the form, a staff member popped in multiple times while I was waiting for the doctor to get this same information that was conveyed in the health form. She took notes on the sticky rather than referring to the details in the form I had just filled. This sloppy work ethic can be attributed to me seeing incorrect info on my personal and health section on the patient portal. Please save your time and money by avoiding this doctor and her staff. I never leave reviews, but I feel very strongly about this. Do not recommend this doctor at all, or this office! I have gone twice now. The first time I went in and felt very rushed and left feeling like NONE of my questions were answered. I had an ovarian ultrasound done and they found something. She said to wait two months (which I was fine with), but I asked what would happen if what they found didn’t go away, she said “well, we will just see”, and just walked out. Horrible bedside manner. Second time, She was 35 minutes late, and then she walked in and didn’t look at me during the whole appointment! She just stared at the computer and did not engage with me! I take my reproductive health seriously, and here I do NOT feel respected or even heard! CHANGING DOCTORS ASAP! I never leave reviews, but I feel very strongly about this. Dr. Blackstock is an amazing physician. She takes her time to listen, is empathetic and so professional. She is extremely knowledgeable and has great bedside manner.

She is so awesome

Dr. Blackstock has been very helpful and extremely understanding. When I was emotionally abused at the workplace while pregnant, she immediately took action and ensured me and the baby were safe. During my stay in the maternity ward, she checked in frequently and was nurturing and understanding. Despite it taking a long time for my daughter to be born, Dr. Blackstock was patient and motivated me constantly. She is also very personable and has a dry sense of humor. She is always willing to help and listen, and does not hesitate to support in any way she can.

She is great. She has been my OB for the past year and half. I was recommended to her during an emergency and im glad I found her. Her calmness and patience is amazing. I really appreciate how she takes time to go through all my questions and explains all related facts and information. All in all only good things about her.

awful practice. do not go here! the doctor and her assistants were extremely condescending and judgmental, and use outdated medical terminology (which leads me to believe that they probably use outdated methods). They spelled my name incorrectly on all my documents, forcing me to take time off work SEVERAL TIMES go back in and correct their mistakes. They also have poor communication between the doctor and the rest of their staff. I called ahead to make sure they had a prescription ready and that my partner could pick it up, when he got there they refused to give it to him and didn't even have it ready and expected him to wait until the doctor was done with her procedure. even though they told me it would be ready. these people suck! find a better doctor, trust me awful practice. do not go here! the doctor and her assistants were extremely condescending and judgmental, and use outdated medical terminology (which leads me to believe that they probably use outdated methods). I would never recommend this Doc to anyone. She has terrible bedside manners. I used to go with my wife, and after each appointment she used to come back either by angry and upset. . For One appointment, She was with my wife for 20 mins, and didn't look at her while talking. My wife was case of high risk pregnancy and she was making it worse after each appointment. She is ANAZING! I had such good experiences with her! Super helpful and very kind! She also very gentle which I believe is a super important quality for a OBGYN to have!

Dr. Blackstock was attentive, kind, and professional. I did not wait long and she helped me with all of my concerns. She took her time and did not seem rush. She listened well.

Thank You Dr. Blackstock from the bottoms of our hearts, as you were caring, attentive & more than just a doctor to us and our lil baby Paisley. Tulsa is not our original home town, being here for work. As you can imagine a child birth away from Family and loved ones is difficult, Dr. Melanie Blackstock, her team and those at Saint Francis hospital made it a fantastic comfortable experience. Paisley is the fifth child, and first one born away from home, but it was the BEST experience.yet!!!!

Dr Blackstock has been my OB for over 20 years. She delivered my daughter in a high risk pregnancy, she performed my hysterectomy and saved my life - she takes the time to listen and she truly cares. Because she delivers babies and does surgeries and sees patients and takes time to really hear them...her wait time can be longer than most. But, in my opinion, great things are worth the wait!

I highly recommend dr. Blackstock! She has been my doctor for 16 years now and she delivered my first baby 6 years ago and I actually just got pregnant this September but it ended in a ectopic pregnancy due to scar tissue around my right tube she wasn't even on call that night and she still came in to do my surgery and that made me feel so much safer since I actually knew the doctor! But if you need a wonderful doctor definitely go see her!

Dr. Blackstock was very attentive and caring. She was very interested in my healthcare as a whole. She empathized with my concerns and helped with strategies to achieve my desired goals. I would recommend her to anyone!!!

This doctor gets it! She listens, and she takes time to explain in terms I can understand.

I absolutely love her, she explained my condition thoroughly and was a great comfort to me when they took me back for surgery, i was having very bad anxiety and she talked me through it. I will be her patient as long as she continues to practice.

I am currently with this Dr she seems sweet and all but i am 5 months pregnant and i dont even think she knows my name i feel NO intimacy with this dr and this is my FIRST child, I feel as though she thinks i know what I am doing but again this is my FIRST child hopefully I am doing everything right because I havent had any good advice or help from her.

I went to her for 2 yrs. Multiple times I waited over 2 hours. She also came in to do my exam & I asked her if she would mind closing the blinds on the floor to ceiling windows i was facing. She said the windows are tinted dont worry about it. I was astonished, I am the patient and if I dont feel comfortable just close the blinds. Then we got 1/2 way thru my pap and she stops in the middle and leaves the room for 20 mins w/ no explanation. She came back in complaining about probs w/ her staff.
