I had a hand surgery by Dr Burney. It was so smooth and great service by his team.

If Burney, or anyone is doing your knee surgery, please ask how they will prevent a Valgus Deformity. See the Internet report after my comments. Burney did a knee replacement for me Sept. 2019. I went through TWO rounds of PT with his Therapists. I continued to work PT at home, but still had pain and my foot turned way out. I asked about this at least 3 other visits. Burney only remarked that the prothesis is in tact and looked fine. My knee still hurts, and my ankle is affected now! I also saw 2 other Orthopedic Surgeons in Dallas. They only looked at the exray of the prothesis and said it looked good! They too didn’t touch the fact that my foot and lower leg were turned out (valgus) . This year I i’m Going through PT again! The Therapist measured my Knee to be OFF THE NEUTRAL LINE BY 22 DEGREES!! Read the Article, I have a Valgus Deformity (slant off neutral) way over the “Gold Standard.” Now i’m Into 2022, still asking for answers, and I got them! I saw a very reputable Knee Specialist. He took an X-ray of my knee and below the knee. He noted that the Valgus was off. I am going to a new PT who measured my Valgus at 22 degrees!! I’m trying my best to do PT and improve, without another surgery! Read the article! Ask your Surgeon about the Valgus!!!! *********************** The radiological definition of “normally” aligned TKA knees is debated (Abdel et al. 2014, Gromov et al. 2014), but most papers on implant survival and radiological alignment have used some deviation from the mechanical or anatomical coronal axis for definement of malalignment. Several studies have used a deviation of 3° from a neutral alignment as a threshold for what is acceptable for good long-term results (Jeffery et al. 1991, Ritter et al. 1994 and 2011, Berend et al. 2004). Such a 3° threshold has also been chosen in numerous other studies investigating results after TKA (Choong et al. 2009, Longstaff et al. 2009, Parratte et al. 2010, Huang et al. 2012), and an alignment within 3° of the mechanical axis has been considered to be the gold standard (Lombardi et al. 2011). Based on this, we decided to use a deviation from the neutral mechanical axis of 3° as the threshold between normally aligned and malaligned TKA knees. We found that one third of the patients had a mechanical axis that deviated from 3° to 11° from the neutral mechanical axis, with 20% of the femoral components and 16% of the tibial components being outliers (> 3° varus or valgus). Fantastic Job on my R hip replacement! Scar looks really good. Legs are even…that was my biggest fear of having this done. I never even used the pres. pain medication. He explained what was needed and what to expect. Assisted in getting PT and home health. I could not have had a better experience!

Dr. Burney is awful! He cares more about money than he does his patients or his staff. Takes shortcuts and will even bypass preop labs just to make a buck. Completely unsafe! Also, expect to be waiting AT LEAST an hour for any appointment or surgery. Find someone else if value your safety.

Great results from my hip replacement. I would recommend Dr Burney to anyone needing hip surgery.

Dr. Burney performed my knee surgery four years ago. He is an amazing doctor, he listens and gives you straight answers.

Went for a second opinion on a knee (surgery) issue. Dr. Burney was very thorough, personable, and truly listened/answered all my questions. He not only suggested other possible options for surgery, but also recommended and even immediately sent my X-ray photos and information to another Orthopedic colleague/friend, for even another opinion. This is beyond what I've seen from other doctors in the past, and felt that I was being treated more as a person, rather than just another knee surgery. Thank you for your honesty, and help. Dr Burney did a knee replacement on my 72 yr old mother last year. He did not do the proper pre op tests to check for osteoporosis. He cracked my mothers femur. Put a plate and screws to try and correct it. Obviously the metal did not do well with her weak bones. It has been over a year and she still has not walked. We found a physician that was willing to help and repair Burneys hack job. Hopefully one day my mother will be able to walk again. Make sure this DR. takes his time and does all the required tests.

Wonderful experience with Dr Burney! I’m hoping he can get me on the mend soon. He has a wonderful bedside manner. Grateful to be in his care!

I saw Dr Burney on or about January ‘18 for a hip labral tear. I preferred to get the PRP injection. Not only was ol Burney an insensitive jerk but the phlebotomist left a massive bruise on my arm when he took my blood. Ol Burney jabbed the PRP injection in my hip, I expressed my pain to which his response was “I need you to calm down”. I told him that I was trying & he said “No you’re not!”. Horrible excuse for a doctor & phlebotomist!

I had a referral to this office from my Doctor today. I was in a car accident and need to be seen for two areas of my body. While trying to make an appointment I was informed the Doctor will only see one body part per appointment. It seems to me this doctor is more concerned about making money than good patient care. Needless to say, I will not be seeing this money, hungrey Doctor.

Staff was great if not for them, I would have walked out of my appointment with Dr Burney. I waited for him for 1 hour and 15 min. He spent maybe 5 min, if not less with me. I felt he was rushing and couldn't wait to get out of the room fast enough. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not go back to him.

Dr Burney is an incredible doctor. I had a very severe injury, crushed the tibia Plateau. He completely rebuilt my Tibial Pateau and suggested physiotherapy, which I have completed and I am walking again. I also might add, the physiotherapists there, Madison and Courtney were outstanding they have helped me so much I would highly recommend his office and his therapists. Thank you so much !

I am so grateful to Dr. Burney and his staff. I am recovering from hip replacement surgery. Well on my way to a normal life!! The staff is polite and patient centered.

Dr. Burney is the kind of doctor that makes you feel glad that you came to see him. He always has a big smile and a warm handshake for you, which immediately puts you at ease. He treated me for a meniscal tear on a knee, and everything has proceeded exactly as he said it would. He is truthful about your condition and what your responsibility is to help improve it that goes beyond surgery. Now that his group is in their new building, the wait time has been greatly reduced.

Staff was nice..he came into the room for a whopping 2 min...give or take 30 sec. Told me I needed to be scoped. Next time I saw him was pre scope procedure for 30 sec then I was wheeled out, he spoke a lil more to my son. Follow ups were with PA's. Final visit that was to be with him was with a PA. That's why I give a low rating. I still have discomfort and some pain...very aggravated..Staff was nice...

The Dr was great! The office staff needs to GET IT TOGETHER! My first appt I waited over an hour to get to the room. The 2nd appt I waited less than that, but got called to the desk to be told they had not gotten an answer back from my insurance company on approvals. WHY did they schedule me and then NOT call me when they KNEW they had no approval yet???????? I come from another city and drove 50 minutes each time! We are on 1 income and this does not set well with me!!

Dr. Burney is a great doctor. It is the dealings with the office staff and their lack of integrity. THey called to tell me I had to pay several hundred of dollars before the doctor would do my surgery. (I had a broken leg; surgery was not an option) They told me they checked with my insurance, and I needed to pay, which I did. Come to find out, when I spoke with my insurance company, I did not need to pay. Then, getting that money back or left on my account for a credit was a mess.

I had to have emergency surgery on my hip and Dr. Burney cancelled/delayed his plans for attend to me. He and his staff are extremely nice. They know how to speak to you in normal conversation where you understand what's going on (no big medical terms that keep you guessing). After speaking with him I had every confidence in the world in him.

I do not recommend Dr. Burney or his partner Dr. Zavala. Neither of them come in to the exam room prepared or with your patient information in hand, so every time you see them it is like you are a brand new patient. They come in with nothing - no paper medical record, no computer, nothing. They are so far behind with their appointments that they are just rushing you in and out. I can't trust that they won't rush thru surgery.
