Wonderful ! I really feel my mom is getting great care and the staff is so helpful

I felt my husband might have Parkinson because he walked in tiny steps.she said 'no..it is Dementia'..with any testing at all She does nothing..same each visit..her aide has him draw a clock face, put hands at 3:30, etc. Then she enters, asks how are things, etc. That is it. Would not refill his relaxer unless he booked a visit..very curt with questions.

Dr. Pamela Alvarez- what can I say about her - she made us feel that the visit was a waste of her time, waste or not we paid your time… my son has complaints of weakness on his upper and lower extremities… at the time we didn’t have MRI results and my son had surgery prior to all of these and she said it maybe due to anesthesia. I Called back the office and faxed my son’s MRI results and asking this doctor if she can refer us to neurosurgeon and her MA/ receptionist said that this doctor will not refer him to a neurosurgeon until the symptoms are worst, in the meantime my son can’t walk by himself, can’t write or even hold anything, I brought my son to UCI Orange ER and did lots of tests including MRI just to find out that my son needed a surgeryASAP otherwise his symptoms will even get worst. I have PPO insurance and she won’t refer us to a Neurosurgeon… by the way Dr. Alvarez my son had a cervical spine surgery and still on PT and OT Worst visit ever, no need to rate this doctor,

Worst experience I've ever had with a doctor!!! She diagnosed me Dementia prescribed medication. I lost driving privileges' for there months. I went to see another Neurologist for second opinion who disagreed with all of her findings. Wrote a favorable letter to the DMV. I'm now driving again

Not sure how the doctor is because never saw her, but we were 7mins later and ROSA, was very rude and she knows the doctor will not do anything to her that's why she continues to miss treat people. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY!!!!!

Dr. Alvarez is great, its her staff name Rosa is very rude, no patient relationship, she will hang up the phone whenever you try to explain to her a situation, she shouldn't be working in that clinic, she will ruin Dr. Alvarez's reputation.

Not good she is nice but u can't call leaves the room misdiagnosed my dad asked for medical records was asked to call. I did twice nothing back

Didn’t even send my husband for PFO rule out for a stoke of unknown origin. Loma Linda did the needed tests after a second stroke, after years of seeing Dr. Alvarez. Her office was unavailable after that.

This office only cares about money and no patient care. They're quick to charge for a missed appointment even though it wasn't the patients fault. I do not recommend this office for any patient care.

I found Doctor Alvarez herself to be very friendly . However her staff is very rude and want talk down to her patients. She needs to house clean or least send them to grammar school.

Dr. Alvarez is an excellent physician. My mom went to her for years. I highly recommend this doctor

Dr. Alverez is a fantastic doctor. She is compassionate, friendly, and up to date on the latest therapies for MS. Her office staff is wonderful as well. I highly recommend Valley Neurology.

What a worthless waste of time and space. Her practice is no different. She had the audacity to question my doctors' talents, right after she admitted she was useless and "couldn't help".... I think she's gonna get someone killed making people wait months to see her just to give them the finger and do as little as she possibly can. I went to try to lower medications by switching 3 semi extreme meds for 1 new safe one and she couldn't figure it out.... it had been specifically recommended to me by a few of my own Dr's, my very knowledgeable pharmacist, a nurse, AND one of the neurologists at the V.A. in Loma Linda... specifically for my medical issue. My Doctor's are mad....... now we have to start over. She set me/us 6 months back. If you have a tbi, and she is your Dr........ run to an ER then go get a real neurologist. If you wait for her lazy self to learn something new you'll probably die of boredom, at best. She should go sell cars at a used car lot. She is extremely full of the right amount of self-importance and associated nonsense. (Bull-nuggies) She can't be bothered to waste her time or she can't afford to pay up front for botox....? (BEEN USING IT SINCE 2013 for migraines) She completely refused to try even after I said I would pay for that out of pocket. Wtf? It's even advertised on her page. AGAIN, her lies waste valuable time and money. Her staff, however, was 110% excellent in every way. Thank you all. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. A dentist could do her job. You just have to say no to people and then charge em....

They don’t answer and can’t leave a message poor service

Should not have a medical license. If you want a question answered about your condition she does not have the time for you. I don’t think she knows the answer that why she runs away. Find someone else.

The staff will not help you. They won't answer their phones. They charged me $1 per page for copies of my medical records and they told me that they only do copying certain days of the week. When I arrived late for my appointment they told me I couldn't be seen. Later Dr. Alvarez told me she would have seen me had she known my situation. This doctor is the biggest joke, I would have had a better chance of more help at an urgent care. If I were you I wouldn’t waste my time. Her bedside manner is awful. Before she even listened to my symptoms she told me she had no idea why I was there and that she couldn’t do anything for me. And I was given a referral by my other doctor to see her. She then left the room to go call my doctor to get my more information and after about 15 minutes, her nurse came back in and said there is nothing they can do for me and that I need to go back to my doctor for the next step. My 86 year old mother, who is displaying serious symptoms of Parkinson’s disease severely affecting her quality of life, waited three months for an appointment after being referred to this doctor. The transportation staff from the skilled nursing facility got her to the doctors office 20 minutes late due to horrible traffic brought on by rain. Not only did the doctor’s staff tell her she would not be seen, they would not even let her in the office. She was sitting outside in a wheelchair in the pouring rain. The waiting room was empty! My sister, who had to take off work to meet her there, pleaded with the staff to let the doctor see her, since my mom had travelled over an hour to get there. The staff rudely refused. They weren’t even apologetic or nice about it. In fact they were defiant and mean. Extremely unbelievably unprofessional. We will not be rescheduling my mother with this doctor. After reading the other reviews on this thread, I would do anything possible to make sure you see any neurologist other than Dr. Alvarez. Why do people go into medicine if not to help others? And what doctor would allow their staff to treat an 86-year-old ailing woman with such disrespect and contempt? It is inexcusable. Very sad! The doctor herself has not been a problem for me....she's personable and very professional. It's the back office staff, primarily the billing dept. Unprofessional and inexperienced beyond comprehension.

Terrible doctor...went to see her years before and she helped me at that time. She treated me with several medications and acupuncture. I kept all of her notes that she gave me listing her treatments. Years later went back for flair up of same disease and she said nothing was wrong with me and that when I had seen her in the past nothing was wrong with me then either. Told me she was going to call my referring physician to discuss and left the room. Never called or came back and had her assistant give me a note to give my referring physician that said nothing was wrong with me now and nothing was wrong with me back then. I Showed my referring physician all my previous notes that she had given me showing that she had been treating me. Referring physician was horrified and told me to file a complaint against Alvarez. Pamela Alvarez is incompetent and a liar. I wouldn't take my dog to her!

An intellectually lazy, and incompetent “physician”. Completely unable to do her job. Did not listen to a single word spoken to her during the appointment. Displays complete lack of knowledge of her field and an inability to integrate information that was given to her, all basic skill sets required of the simplest of careers. Blatant refusal to address the patient’s problem, dismissive and condescending. Clearly the patient’s condition was above her intellectual capacity to resolve, so instead of dealing with her personal shortcomings she chose to project her frustrated insecurities at the patient. Recommending the “physician” seek counseling. All of these shortcomings were aptly displayed in her erroneous, and frankly laughable, notes. Her doctor’s note was riddled with spelling errors... as if she had never even read the words she was trying to write... If you cannot spell the terminology within your own field, you need to evaluate your life. Such a blatant lack of literacy is appalling and a worrisome, as people’s lives depend upon this woman. My first impression wasn’t the greatest but hopefully it will get better. She made me feel like I was doing something wrong and wasting her time. In the middle of the appointment, she just walked out of the room without notice. I was left waiting for her, expecting her to pop back in and show some professionalism but only the nurse came back. I’m not sure what to expect on my next appointment but I hope it’s better than this one. She did order some good blood work. But after reading the other reviews, knowing I’m not alone in how I feel, I’m worried about how I’m going to be treated on my next appointment. Dr. Alvarez "Misdiagnosed" my mother, telling her after a very short visit, verbal "test" only, that "you don't have dementia". A month or two later, my mother was, as we suspected, diagnosed with ADVANCED DEMENTIA by the best Neurologist - Dr. Monika Gupta of UCSD. Dr. Pamela Alvarez is the referred Dr. for several HMO medical groups/doctors... but, she is less than qualified, not a very good Neurologist. For anything major, seek a better Neurologist. Office staff is great, Even Dr. Alvarez

I was prescribed a Keppra increase on my first app. with Dr. Alvarez, New and scary symptoms came with the recent increase I'm struggling with. Trying repeatedly to reach out to Dr. Alvarez for help with the symptoms or less of a drastic increase, No one in the front office gave me any communication and when I finally got on the phone with Jessica she had no interest in the symptoms of Keppra and simply cutt me off and said "Well no other patients are complaining about those symptoms, If you don't like it go to another doctor," and then when I tried to push for communication with Dr. Alvarez she said she only answers questions at appointments. This was heartbreaking to think for any future epileptic patients, trying to reach out for a solution at Dr. Alvarez's office you will only have a prescription slapped if front of you and treated with disrespect if you try and speak out about your symptoms and try and give input on a better solution. We need a Neurologist who has value for the medical future and lifestyle of their patients who struggle with disorders, Or atleast consideration for the experience they go through with these medications. I wish the best future for those who struggle with Epilepsy. She cutt me off in the middle of my sentence when I was describing my symptoms to correct me because I referred to her as Pamela instead of Dr. Alvarez. Very insulting and made it clear she doesn't care about what her patients have to say. I only called her Pamela because that's the name she put on her business card. She made it clear she cares more about her name than the effects of the medication she prescribes. Kept going back and forth on if I should post something, but I finally decided I had to. Took my dad, who suffers from Parkinson's a few years back. At the time he wasn't doing that well. She told my mom and I that he only had a year to live! That he wasn't doing well because his organs were starting to fail! On top of that, she was so "matter of fact" about it! So unprofessional! We left and took my dad to another Neurologist and turns out all he needed was an adjustment in his meds! Worst experience with any doctor ever! I would absolutely NOT recommend Dr Alvarez. In my initial appointment i found her to be short, cool, did not take the time to explain her findings / reasoning re medical assessment. She was curt in her responses. She left the room saying she was going to "look for information from my referring MD" and she did not / would not return. Her nurse said she was not available to answer my remaining questions.

Dr. Alvarez is outstanding. She is patient, kind, and very knowledgeable. I went to Dr. Alvarez for a second opinion and she was outstanding!

Dr. unavailable and does not consider patients medical condition. This office needs to conduct triage for patients, new or not, appointments available or not. On a pain level of 1 to 10, patient is about 20, blood pressure over 180 because of pain. Problem is trigeminal neurolgia and current attack has lasted over 8 hours. patient unable to speak, chew, or swallow. thanks for your concern.

Love her! Went for migraines and she really improved the quality of my life. She is friendly, compassionate and patient. I highly recommend her, she does spend quality of time with each patient. I would rather wait a few minutes and have her not rush my appointment.
