When an unexpected traumatic event occurs in your life, a lot is out of your control. While visiting Vail, Colorado for my mother’s 70th birthday, I was involved in a serious vehicle accident, and I was rushed to the Vail Health Hospital. I was immediately prepped for surgery as the hospital called in the on-call orthopedic surgeon for emergency surgery at 8:00PM. This surgeon was Dr. Viola. Words can’t express how concerned my family and I were before, during and after the surgery. Dr. Viola and his team did an incredible job, and I felt safe in their hands. Dr. Viola has been extremely informative and caring throughout this entire experience. He has continued to make himself available and he provided me with his direct cell phone number to answer all the questions I’ve had during my recovery. Under Dr. Viola’s care, my arm has made a full recovery, better than I would have ever expected. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Viola, his team, and the entire Vail Health Hospital. Dr Viola completed multiple surgeries on my wrist and I never got any relief. I was sent to a second option on his recommendation and the second opinion told me that he wouldn’t treat me because Dr Viola couldn’t find the problem. I went to another doctor who recommended acupuncture and alternative treatments. For over a year now I am pain free thanks to a chiropractor who does active release therapy. I truly believe that many of my surgeries were unnecessary and did more damage to my body, but Dr Viola continued to go in surgically attempting to find the problem.

There are not enough words of Praise , Gratitude or Thanks that I can give Dr. Viola and his team for all that they did for me over the last 2 plus years. You see before I found Dr. Viola I had seen a Doctor who did a whole lot of damage to my elbow unnecessarily and that is being kind. I was not sure That Dr. Viola would even want to see me, as most Doctors don't like or want to take on case's where surgery has already been done by someone else. Thank goodness for me Dr.Viola was up for the challenge, and let me tell you a challenge it was. It was worth the multiple surgeries it took for Dr. Viola and his team to repair all the damage that was caused from the previous operations. Dr. Viola and his team worked tirelessly and at times outside of the box to give me back as much normalcy as humanly possible considering the previous damage I came to them with. They were on a mission and were going to do everything they could to achieve that goal for me. And Achieve they did!! I am beyond grateful! He and his team truly are Miracle Workers! He and his team have become like Family to me, after that much time together it's hard not to think of them in that way. So if you or someone you know is in need of a Hand, wrist or Elbow specialist Dr. Viola is your guy! I have sent Family and Friends his way as well as stranger's. He is kind, compassionate , a great listener, has a wonderful bedside manor and he will give you as many options as possible ! You don't get better than Dr. Viola!! Staff was too rude and ignorant to even make an appointment. Not worth your time.

Dr Viola & his team, Kyle, Corrine, Kelly, have been amazing. Highly skilled plus empathy. I had a pretty locked up thumb ("trigger thumb") that acupuncture & Graston didn't help. I felt really confident in Dr Viola's treatment plan - injection followed immediately with PT at Howard Head, and if that failed, we would do a 5 minute surgical release in the hospital. When it looked like I was headed to the surgical option, they went out of their way to accommodate my schedule. Then, a few weeks later, suddenly my thumb returned virtually to normal! What was doubly impressive was their response: let's keep you on the surgical schedule in case it goes south and then cancel out last minute if the healing holds. The healing did hold! Dr. Viola was able to take care of my distal radius fracture right after the New Years holidays. He was very professional and took his time to return my call and visit before the surgery. I will surely recommend him to any one needing wrist surgery.

If you have injured your hand, wrist, or elbow, I would highly recommend that you schedule an appointment with Dr. Viola immediately. All of the members of his team are highly professional and compassionate. I did not know about trauma induced arthritis, so I waited to seek help, if I had known about Dr. Viola, when my accident occurred, it would have made his surgery less complicated and my injury would have healed more rapidly.

I liked the confidence that Dr. Viola had regarding repairing my ligaments in my thumb once and for all. I had waited 8 weeks before seeing him per a previous physician's advise, but wished I had sought out Dr. Viola right away. I hope to have the surgery next week and healed within 6 weeks.

Dr Viola has performed multiple procedures on my fingers, hands and elbows and He is so good I refuse to go to anyone else! He is so good at what he does I am beyond impressed! Do expect a wait when in the office, know that it’s because that many people trust him that he sees as many of us as he can so be patient- he is beyond worth it!!

Dr Viola is always very honest and up front with treatment options. From a surgical standpoint I think none better.

Dr. Viola performed emergency surgery on me after a major ski accident. He is a very serious, committed doctor who expects excellence from all his colleagues. I was hospitalized for a week, and he visited me often. I am healing well, due to his incredible skill during 3 separate surgeries.

Dr. Viola has once again come to my rescue. He had previously performed surgery on my hand, this time it was on my leg after a traumatic ski injury. I am so thankful he was there to perform a very difficult surgery and I am on my way to getting back on the slopes. He is very professional, meticulous and a perfectionist. Everything a patient would want in a surgeon. I have had 30+ years of experience as an Emergency, trauma and flight nurse so I can say exceptional. Thank you Dr. Viola! Grateful!

Dr. Viola repaired my dominant hand and helped me return to snowshoeing and playing piano. He is a proficient surgeon and took the time to explain all about the procedure and the recovery. I would highly recommend him and will use him again in the future, if the need arises.

Dr. Viola and his crew performed surgery on my shattered arm and hand on a late Saturday afternoon, after surgeons in Denver turned me away. I am profoundly grateful for their time and expertise, and highly recommend starting with them!

I want to thank Dr. Viola for the wonderful treatment he gave me. It took a couple years for all the pain to go away. I almost thought it never would. My surgery was December 29 1999 my elbow is doing great no up all night crying in pain. I have full use and no weight limits. Thank you so much for your help.

Dr. Viola performed multiple surgeries and I have received no relief due to a misdiagnosis of the cause of my pain. I got a second opinion, and due to the surgeries Dr. Viola performed, I am not a candidate for the surgery that would relieve my pain. After 3 surgeries he tried to recommend yet another operation that again would not have benefitted me. I have never written a negative review but I felt it was important to share my experience with others.

Excellent, caring I am from fl had an accident & was lucky to have him repair my arm

Simply the best- had two broken wrists 8 years ago. One I broke very badly and luckily I had Dr Viola put it back together and it works well and it probably shouldn't.

Dr. Viola reconstructed my elbow and wrist after an extremely severe mountain biking accident. He's likely one of the only surgeons in the world who would have been able to repair my elbow to anatomically correct condition. I'm working on getting my PhD in Aerospace engineering to become an astronaut, this would not be possible without Dr. Viola's expertise in repairing my arm.

Dr. Viola performed extremely difficult surgery when I tore the tendon in my little finger by replacing it with some of my IT Band. He replaced the IT Band with a cadaver. He also shortened my ulnar bone. I have been told my sutures match the best Plastic Surgeons. When I had a question, he phoned me. He responds to emails. He is very busy because he does procedures that few can perform. His goal is to return the athlete, no matter the person's age, to his or her sport(s).
