I am surprised by the reviews of Dr. Patel on google. My husband is a current patient and is being treated for cancer. We both are very happy with his treatment, Dr. Patel and his staff. My husband’s cancer was caught before symptoms appeared because of a slight rise in his PSA. This was because of Dr. Patel being concerned and performed a biopsy. We believe most doctors would have done a wait and monitor approach. My husband is recovering from surgery performed by Dr. Patel. We choose him because he’s done 1,000’s of robotic prostate surgeries. My husband has made a remarkable recovery: very little discomfort. Two weeks after surgery my husband is walking more than a mile each day. He feels good. Unfortunately, my husband needs more treatment because his cancer was very aggressive. We are continuing his treatment with Dr. Patel because we believe he will give us treatment options, be truthful with my husband’s prognosis, and guide us through a journey with cancer we had not expected. Every time we meet with Dr. Patel he asks us if we have any questions. He’s called us several times after procedures, before surgery, and after surgery in additional to my husband’s appointments. We also have met several times with his nurse practitioner and she answers our questions and explains treatments. I’ve are very glad to be working with Dr. Patel and his staff. I will say Dr. Patel’s manner is straightforward. He’s not going to hold your hand while giving you bad news. We didn’t want or need that. He’s not our friend he’s a doctor. We wanted a doctor with lots of experience and someone who is knowledgeable and extremely capable. We found that with Dr. Patel and his staff. I am surprised by the reviews of Dr. Patel on google. Great bedside manner. Showed interest and concern for me. Very thorough and professional.

Guy is rude. Makes you feel like your being inconvenient, wasting his time and money. Literally, his name on the Central Ohio Urology Group matches his name- Rush.

Or first visit went well. He was very kind to my aging mother and explained things fully. We did not have to wait long, and he spent adequate time with us. He offered several options for her treatment. His assistant was well trained and friendly, as well as patient and kind.

Was there in Dec and Jan. 2019, everyone was , attentive to my needs. Dr. ,even took the time to complement me about losing 75 lbs since I was there year earlier. He even jokingly said, I should be a spokesman for weight loss, since I did it without drugs or anything, except will power and diet and moderate exercise! At this point I’m beyond stressed with this medical issue, kidney stones, and adding on the stress of dealing with setting up appointments and procedures with you all is not helping. After my first appointment with Dr Patel on 2/13, I was checked out by a lady (around 4:15/4:30pm in Gahanna, and I live in work in Grove City) whom wasn’t very kind or understanding that I couldn’t just dropping everything get the X-ray that was ordered down that night then come in for a midday appointment the next day. I felt very much like I was being judge because I couldn’t make that happen as fast as she expected me to. End up getting the X-ray later that evening in at the Mt Carmel location after having dinner and taking care of my dog. Set up a Friday the 16th appointment for 4:15pm and that one was fine, another X-ray and appointment set up. This past Friday 2/23 I was in there and Dr Patel stuck his head in and said he was going to look at the X-ray, then some nurse came in for me to sign a consent I asked for what, and she apparently was under the impression that he spoke to me about the ‘blasting’ procedure. This was not the case he may have said it in popping his head in why passing by but I had not been informed that was the decision he was making for me till she came in. From there he scheduling lady was out. Heard from her on 2/26, and that was not a positive experience either. I had left a note and message to ensure she knew I would like to have the procedure done on a Friday morning. Various reasons include my dog, my work, sick time limitations, and so on. She told me I that she would have to check which location it had to be done at because of my weight/BMI and that made me scratch my head because if she had my info, assuming she did, then why not check this before calling? I was told it would have to be done at Mt. Carmel West, and that’s fine actually closer drive so that’s fine, but I was given a ‘window’ of time (7am -11am) vs a set time that the surgery would take place and that I wouldn’t get that info till the day before. I find this practice a bit disorganized and unclear. So now we are up to three - four times if felt a bit uneasy or stressed by this office, which in my gut is telling me try a different office/doctor/group. Then today I get on the portal because I’m nearly out of pain meds. Which is take care of perfectly fine, no hick-ups. However, I see my procedure is scheduled for 3pm on 3/9. This is not in the ‘window’ of time I was told and also was told no food or water after midnight. That means that day I by the time to procedure is scheduled to start at 3pm I will have gone 14 hours no eating and drinking. I get I can survive, not saying I will die my concern is the pain meds they don’t sit well without food and going from midnight to 3pm I will be in horrible pain, plus I get migraines all the time so no food or drinking doesn’t help. And this right here is why I’m posting. I have sent contact us forms in twice now no response, I have made it clear that I am not happy about this 3pm procedure because it means I will be suffering for a longer period of time but I haven’t cancelled it because I need it done. There has be something that can be done? Even today when I called to ask why it had to change and different scheduling person was very rude. I feel very unheard, my concerns have not been addressed, and if I could I would go to a different doctor but here I am in pain and have really no other option that will get this over with by the same time frame. No only am I frustrated with my pain but now I’m stressed and frustrated by all of this. Something in your system needs to change, and I can’t be the only that this has frustrated in anyway. Today 3/9/18. I logged into the online portal to send a message to Dr Patel about pain medication and I see they have scheduled a follow up appointment for me without ever talking to me what so ever. How is this acceptable? I was rushed while trying to explain my situation to the doctor and it felt like he didn't want to speak with me. He chalked up my reoccurring problem with anxiety and that my pain was made up in my head. I can assure you it is not, and am seeking the help of other physicians. Dr. Patel has an excellent bedside manner. He had a nurse present when he examined me. He explained to me what he would be doing beforehand and explained why the tests were necessary. He was very professional and courteous.

Dr. Patel became rude after being asked questions about how a procedure was performed. His responses were sharp and unprofessional, as if he resented being questioned.
