They don't take new patients with medicare though the website and medicare site shows they do...

in 1999 my achilles’ tendon was a mess. Dr. Lower was my last hope. I forced my HMO to let me see him and he changed my life. Replacing the destroyed tendon with the big toe tendon gave me a life without pain and full mobility. Over 20 years later and there’s been no problem with it. My HMO wanted to fuse my ankle, that would’ve been a permanent limp! This man is a miracle worker. Plus, he actually has compassion, a quality lacking in many surgeons. Was able to correctly diagnose my freak knee injury and had me back out walking that day and running the following day. Extremely happy.

Today my two year old daughter was evaluated by Dr. Lower and his very fine staff. From the first phone call to the time we left the office today, I cannot find enough superlatives to describe our experience. For any parent dealing with an acute traumatic injury to a child, the experience is devastating. Dr. Lower's was the calm and reassuring voice and message that we needed to hear. He confidently and competently evaluated my little girl while demonstrating great compassion to both her and her traumatized parents. I am grateful for his care and concern. I am equally grateful for every member of his staff that we interacted with today. I am also grateful for the many accomplishments this fine physician has accrued while in service to this great nation. A very grateful Marine. I was referred to Dr. Lower's office for an ankle injury. Ariel, the PA, was tremendously helpful, professional, and personable. After completing the prescribed PT my ankle is much better! I also found the office staff to be friendly and helpful, especially when dealing with insurance issues. Given my experience I would highly recommend Ariel, the Physician's Assistant, in Dr. Lower's practice. I was referred to Dr. Lower's office for an ankle injury. Dr. Lower his staff performed poorly at treating my post-op infection (Cellulitis and Osteomyelitis). I mentioned my suspicion of an infection 4 days after the operation (October 21, 2010) to remove a ganglion cyst from my ankle, and my suspicion was dismissed by the Physician's Assistant, Dan Williams, after he examined it (October 25, 2010). He did not call in Dr. Lower to look at it, or do a swab sample or a blood test. It turned out to be seriously infected, but they did not treat it successfully. I underwent four cleaning and debridement operations by Dr. Lower in 8 days from November 15-24, 2010, and was put on IV antibiotics for the next several months. With the infection still active in my ankle, Dr. Lower prescribed Physical Therapy without an MRI to determine the structural soundness of the ankle (that I requested and he dismissed) and my ankle was "destroyed" (Dr. Lower's words, not mine) as a result of the three Physical Therapy sessions. I had to switch doctors and hospitals, to get it treated properly, and endure four more operations at Georgetown University Hospital (Dr. Paul S. Cooper and Dr. Christopher Attinger) from April 30- May 13, 2011, where they inserted 22 steel pins to fuse my ankle, held in place by an External Fixator (see photos). Dr. Attinger carefully conducted three of the operations to debride (Clean out dead and infected bone and muscle tissue) along with one more operation by Dr. Cooper to remove the steel pins on June 30, 2011. After 3 more months in casts, I was able to walk with the help of an orthotic brace that I will likely will wear for the rest of my life. I could not in good conscience recommend Loudoun Orthopaedics, LLC, Dr. Raymond Lower and his assistant Dan Williams, P.A., to anyone for anything, because they appear to be inept at handling infections. To make matters worse, they inserted incorrect information into my patient records to try and make the case that the infection was my own fault for alleged "non-compliance", not their own negligence and inadequate treatment of the infection.
