Everyone is absolutely awesome!

I knew I had a difficult situation with a needed crown. I had concerns about the procedure & had switched dentists specifically because of this & after hearing so many good things about Dr Shlafer. Indeed, he made everything as quick & painless as possible...I'm glad I switched!

Dr Shlafer and staff are amazing. They listen and are very respectful to the needs of the patient. Also they are respectful of my time and never left me waiting. My wife and son have been coming for over 13 years. Thank you to Dr and his staff. Robert Mooney

As a first time patient of Dr. Shafer, I was really impressed with the overall professionalism of him and assistant Mary.

Been going hear for over 20 years and just recently found out my hygienist unexpectedly retires. I was a bit skeptical about seeing someone new, but i can say the experience was great. I really like my new hygienist. She took great care in cleaning my teeth, told me what she was doing during the cleaning and really listened to my concerns and was very friendly! As for the dentist Roman Shlafer, hes amazing. Love this place. I guess thats why i have been going their so long. Every one is very friendly, and goes above and beyond to make the visit worry free!

Excellent visit with Dr. Shlafer and his assistant....came away with lots of knowledge on our situation....

Dr. Shlafer is great. His staff is nice and cordial as well. I’ve had the first side of my lanap laser surgery, and he helped with my bite by grinding a few of the back teeth as well. I’m very pleased. I have the second lanap laser treatment (other quad) plus a Wisdom tooth extraction next week. Lanap has been great. I may have taken 1 ibuprofen that evening and it wasn’t really necessary. I just wanted to sleep good without any issues. And there hasn’t been. Safety is impeccable with shoe covers, temp check, and air cleaners in every room! Glad I chose to come to Dr. Shalfer’s Office. Update: 11/10/2021 It’s been officially a year and after getting the Lanap Surgery and I’m soooo glad I did. Great improvements, easy, no stitches, quicker healing. Went from 10 to 3s. I came to Doctor Shlafer with a severe TMJ problem. I was in constant pain. My previous Dentist did not have the expertise to deal with the problem. Doctor Shlafer took time and care to evaluate my bite. He uses the latest technology and is very conscientious. I found him to be very knowledgeable. His work is excellent. My cleaning visit was surprisingly good. After all of the information we have seen in the media, you really wonder if it's possible to be completely safe anywhere. I am the world's worst dental patient. As a child I had a terrifying experience at the local dentist, which left in me a fear that was debilitating. Dr. Shlafer has worked on me many times, and each time I am impressed more than the last, because there is virtually no pain with anything he has done. He is very in tune with his patients and knows just by a person’s body language if they are getting uncomfortable. I had three crowns done the day before Thanksgiving a few years ago and was pain free for the holiday! He is truly amazing, and his work is far superior to the work of others. His hygienists and assistants are friendly, gentle and caring and take all the time needed to make their patients comfortable during cleanings. I’ve had better experieces here than with any other health professional. Dr. Shlafer and his staff go above and beyond to keep you comfortable, healthy and happy. First time today and really feel like in good hands. Starts at the front desk where these lady’s were so friendly and took really good care of me. Continued with Mary Beth, Dr. Shlafer‘s assistant. She was great. Even though I was so nervous for my root canal treatment she calmed me down and explained everything in detail so that I felt comfortable before starting any treatments at all. She carefully listened to my concerns and let me explain what happened in the past. Finally Dr. Shlafer showed up and did exactly the same. I don't usually read or write reviews but my experience today is worth writing and worth your time to read. Dr.Shlafer and Mary Beth were both very kind,patient and knowledgeable. This is my new dentist! Staff was all great and left their office after my cleaning with Venice feeling very confident in my choice.

I have to say that this is no reflection on the staff or Dr. Shlafer himself. This is about the "up-sale" I feel I was given regarding wearing an appliance to fix a gap on my side front teeth. I communicated with Dr. Shlafer before making my appointment regarding an Inman Aligner and a retainer, since I have a small gap on the side of my teeth. I used to wear braces and really have no desire to wear them again, or spend an excessive amount of money to fix this. I went to a consultation with the doctor as well as MaryBeth. Both were beyond polite. The office was very clean and everything was amazing. But after looking at my teeth, Dr. Shlafer told me that the only thing that could help would be to wear aligners that would cost about $7000 total. Needless to say, I was saddened to hear this and decided to give another dentist a call. With a new dentist and a new outlook, I was fitted for an aggressive spring retainer that this new dentist requires I wear all day and all night only removing it to eat. The gap is closing and the slight overbite is improving. And this spring retainer does not cost anything NEAR the $7000 treatment Dr. Shlafer prescribed. Dr. Shlafer, it was apparent to me that you and MaryBeth are not interested in what is best for patients, but simply making the most money from folks who don't need to spend that amount of money. What a waste of a day. You are a nice man, but "cha-ching" is all you heard from the moment you communicated with me. Please take a moment to design and recommend cost-effective treatments when you can. You really will not keep patients with constant "up-selling" and pressure selling of invisible aligners, so you can align your pockets with that almighty green. Disgraceful is what I say to you, Sir. Dr. Roman Schafer is 100% by far the best dentist you can go to. I was experiencing terrible jaw pain to the point where I could barely open my mouth. I was in constant pain 24/7 & thought that I would never be able to get rid of this excruciating pain. I went to numerous TMJ doctors around Michigan and they wanted me to spend thousands of dollars on methods only to temporarily get rid of the pain without addressing the issue. I felt like no one understood my pain & that no one could help me. However, when I came to Dr. Shlafer, I knew I was strongly mistaken. Dr. Schlafer was immensely kind & extremely educated about TMJ and many jaw issues. He also has helped various people before with issues of jaw pain. He fully listened to me & made me feel very comfortable. He thoroughly explained to me what my options were & what he recommended. In only a short amount of time, he had completely fixed my jaw pain with a procedure called equilibration (which was completely painless). I was referred to Dr. Roman Shlafer by a co-worker, who had been seeing Dr. Shlafer since she was a small child. I felt so comfortabale on my first visit, I knew immediately I would no longer have to seek another dentist. I had a basketball accident about 18 years ago that resulted in crowns that kept breaking every few years on my three lost teeth. Dr. Shlafer did three implants on my upper three front teeth (7, 8, 9). He did so painlessly and without my need to even miss any work. And his staff are prompt. I saw how highly rated Dr.Shlafer was and I realized that I couldn’t hold back any longer and let people go on thinking he was a great dentist after what happened to me. I went to Dr.Shalfer for 6 years. The main reason I stayed was because of a certain hygienist who was and is amazing. To start at the beginning, the first time I went to Dr.Shlafer he made me fill out a, how much do you love your teeth survey (or in other words, how much money can I get out of you). He has always been focused on the mighty dollar and never really explains anything about your health, but I never knew how bad it was until two years ago. I had injured my front tooth which he told me about but never explained. Then out of nowhere he told me I should go to a oral surgeon to get a root canal because if it calcified and got infected I would need an implant. It had also yellowed a bit so he would do a treatment to correct that after the root canal ($$$). He had been talking about whitening it for years but I had only agreed that year since I had some money (which is the only reason why he finally told me). So I go the oral surgeon and he looks at my tooth and tells me it is totally calcified and why did Dr.Shlafer send me when it is clear as day. He couldn’t do a root canal on it. But it had been calcifying over years so why didn’t he send me in before? Because he doesn’t pay attention to his patients. But it is ok because he can still whiten it for 1k at a discount. Which when I told him was his response. No need to worry about the obvious health concern. So please don’t continuing going to someone who looks at you as a dollar amount. I now go to an amazing dentist not far away called Arbor Dental. They don’t even accept my new insurance but they are so caring and health focused (oral cancer screening, 2hr exams with dentist, etc.) and financially conscious that it doesn’t matter. Get yourself someone like that because your dental health matters. I have had dental experiences that range from routine teeth cleaning through emergant appointments with abcessed crowns that required immediate evaluation and action. Each appt. is handled in a professional and caring manner from the front desk to the dental chair. Dental training be it from a private or state university settling teachs the fundimentals of dentistry it is the execution of that knoweldge is the separting factor. Some dentists can be harsh in how they approach working in your mouth and others approach their work in a soft gentle manner which is less painful or not painful at all. I recently had a a crown replaced in Dr. Shlafer’s office. The whole experience was top notch. It was a completely painless procedure, from the shot to numb the area, all the way to cementing of the crown. Plus, he makes the crown on-site so there is no need for a return visit. Dr. Shlafer and his staff kept me comfortable and informed throughout the procedure, and made sure the crown had a perfect fit before I left. I’ve never had a crown feel so close to a real tooth! I have not needed any dental work since coming here 4 years ago, so my experience has just been the teeth cleaning and work with a dental splint for teeth grinding. So I go the oral surgeon and he looks at my tooth and tells me it is totally calcified and why did Shlafer send me when it is clear as day. He couldn’t do a root canal on it. To my favorite Dentist Dr. Shlafer I am a new patient. He is professional and gentle Dr. Shlafer is the BEST Dentist I have ever met in my life. I came to his office because I needed a root canal my anxiety level was through the roof. He is such a compationate Doctor. In the end Dr. Shlafer was able to save me tooth without having to do a root canal. He was able to do a feeling. I would recommend him over any Dentist in the Metropolitan Area. I've been seeing Dr. Shlafer for over 30 years now...still no cavities! :-) And even though I moved away from Farmington once I graduated from high school I still drive 30+ miles every 6 months so Sharon can clean my teeth. I can't imagine going anywhere else!

Dr Schlafer is a fabulous dentist! I would recommend him to absolutely anyone. While in his chair, I was both relaxed and pain free. It really was an unbelievable experience. I began seeing Dr. Shlafer through referral from a family friend. After addressing my ongoing issues with headaches and jaw pain, Dr. Shlafer and his staff recommend an inexpensive device that relieved both my headaches and jaw pain! I didn't believe the solution could be that simple! Thanks from the bottom of my heart! My first visit with Dr. Shlafer on March 12 2018! I needed a wisdom tooth pulled. I'm the biggest baby when it come's to pain. However, I didn't feel a thing. Dr. Shalfer and Marybeth are the best ???? He was gentle, and she was comforting. I'll send anyone who needs a good dentist. Thank you again Dr. Shalfer and Marybeth.

To everyone who is looking for a smile make over, I recommend Dr. Roman Shlafer. I am so impressed with how efficiently the whole procedure was. It took only 3 appointments total- consultation, when Dr.Shlafer explained in detail his vision of my future smile; and 2 longer appointments to complete the work, all in the most thoughtful and meticulous manner. Throughout these times, I felt 100 % comfortable and confident that I am in the hands of a highly professional and caring doctor.
