Dr. Dinger took the time to thoroughly look over my mothers MRI with her, explain to both of us what the treatment options were spoke to us with patience, answered all of our questions. Dr. Dinger provided the stability we both needed during a rough time and the reassurance needed. He worked with her surgeon until her surgery was complete. It was a wonderful experience I highly recommend him! I had multiple issues and Dr. Dinger took time to address each one and offer relief. A really good listener and explains things well. Very competent, thorough, friendly, and kind. I was seen just a few minutes after arrival. Jen, his nurse was very helpful and patient.
I was referred by the VA for back pain. Dr Dinger and the staff have been a blessing. Professional and personable. In just a few weeks, my quality of life has changed beyond expectations. I’m doing things I haven’t been able to do for so long. Thank you!!

They never answer the phone!!!
Based on my experiences and my personal opinion of these experiences, I have to rate one star. Don’t walk away, RUN. Dr. Dinger and his staff use to be friendly, show empathy, and genuine concern for helping patients. Dr Dinger was my physician for several years. He was my favorite doctor and most of the time, his staff was helpful and responsive, although sometimes things would fall through the cracks. Unfortunately, things have taken a dramatic turn for the worse. In my opinion, Dr Dinger no longer takes the time to listen to patients, explain options, and show genuine interest. It feels like he is running an assembly line running patients through various procedures and office visits as fast as possible. He does not return urgent calls. His techniques do not seem to be up to date with current new technologies provided by other Pain Management doctors located in the Stone Oak part of San Antonio. Even worse, in my experience, his current staff are awful to deal with. A former staff member told me some really good staff, including the Office Manager left his practice and that is when things went South. Some of his current staff are unresponsive, could care less if a patient has an urgent need to be seen, and tell you to basically take a number and wait your turn. Over my lifetime, I have always found when you have an urgent medical need, the doctor will work you into the schedule or even stay an extra 15 minutes to see you that day. Current staff show no empathy or concern to do that and they will not allow the patient to speak with the doctor on the phone. The staff throw up every possible excuse they can think of to not accommodate an urgent need. The Office Manager tells you sorry but they are not an urgent care clinic. Sadly, Dr Dinger does not make himself available to speak directly with patients in such situations. Either his staff did not pass the urgent messages to Dr Dinger in an effective manner, or Dr Dinger has lost his focus on helping patients. Even more disappointing, Dr Dinger did not demonstrate what is taught in Leadership and Management 101. When a conflict occurs between his staff and a long term loyal patient, instead of speaking with both parties involved, gathering all the facts, then making a decision, he opts to blindly act based on one side of the story...the story his staff tells him. He may view it as being loyal to his staff, but blind loyalty is a rookie mistake. In my opinion, if you find Dr Dinger’s office is a shorter drive or more convenient, do yourself a favor and drive an extra 15 minutes and get professional treatment and care from a top ranked doctor and a friendly, competent staff located in the Stone Oak area. REGARDING YOUR RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW - NOTHING I ADDRESSED HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH COVID. I ALSO ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ ALL THE REVIEWS ABOUT YOUR PRACTICE ON ALL THE VARIOUS SITES. THE HIGHEST AVERAGE RATING I FOUND ON YOUR PRACTICE IS 3 OUT OF 5 STARS. I SEE THAT AS A GRADE OF A “C”. THAT IS PROBABLY ABOUT RIGHT. BASED UPON WHAT I READ, IT APPEARS YOUR STAFF IS PULLING YOU DOWN INSTEAD OF LIFTING YOU UP. IN MY OPINION, YOU ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THE STAFF THAT REPRESENTS YOU. I BELIEVE A PRUDENT ACTION WOULD BE FOR YOU TO TAKE AN UNBIASED OBJECTIVE LOOK AT YOUR STAFF. I ALSO SUGGEST YOU NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF FROM YOUR PATIENT’S FEEDBACK. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU PROVIDE YOUR PATIENTS A CONFIDENTIAL CUSTOMER FEEDBACK FORM THEY ARE ABLE TO RETURN DIRECTLY TO YOU. YOU ARE A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, BUT UNFORTUNATELY YOU ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO BE A BUSINESS OWNER/MANAGER. THE WRONG STAFF MEMBERS CAN QUICKLY RUIN A GOOD PRACTICE. YOU MAY WANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR OFFICE MANAGERS UNDERSTANDS THEIR LOYALTY SHOULD RESIDE WITH YOU AND THE PATIENTS, NOT THE STAFF. PATIENTS BRING IN REVENUE TO THE BUSINESS. STAFF SALARIES ARE AN OVERHEAD COST. Based on my experiences and my personal opinion of these experiences, I have to rate one star. Don’t walk away, RUN. I came to Dr Dinger as a patient of Dr Gabriel rest his soul. I was on a Fentanyl patch a heavy does which I came to Dr Gabriel on and oral pain meds. When I first saw Dr Dinger he told me I had to come off both meds. I was scared at first after being on the meds for 10+ years. I voluntarily went to an inpatient program to come off the meds. After that is when my started a plan with Dr Dinger to address my pain pill free. I've probably have had alot of what they offer but they have not given up on me. I'm about to try a trial on my second spinal stimulator. I also have to give my respect to his PA Garcia she is so caring and listens and does what she can to help you. The front desk I realize that it gets busy but it can get frustrating calling and all you get is the answering machine. I've never experienced rudeness from Jessica the front office person. I just wish when a call does go to machine they are return the same day. I came to Dr Dinger as a patient of Dr Gabriel rest his soul. My wife Myrna first visit, staff is very professional, Dr. Dinger explained her condition in detail highly recommend.
Dr Dinger was personable, professional, and patient with all my questions. His staff was exceedingly helpful in all ways. Highly recommend!
i have been seeing Dr. Dinger for years now, and he has gone above and beyond to help me with my aches and pains, to include my knee which the cartilage is completely gone and my lower back pain, he has also helped alleviate the pain in my hands from overuse of my cell phone. I highly recommend him!!
an hour ago 24 minutes ago The staff was so rude and uncaring l will never go back. Receptionist would not give me her name. They don’t answer phones or return call. I could not even cancel. I had to drive all the way there just to speak with rude staffers. It was three females that could give a crap a about his patients. I asked if he had voicemail they gave me noway to talk to Dr Dinger scared l guess they didn’t want him to find out how rude and uncaring they are. I liked the Dr. to bad his rude staff lost a patient. There are allot of pain places in Boerne l would choose any of them but Dr Dinger.

Dr Dinger is great, his office staff isn't. They do not follow up on things.

Dr. Dinger has a wonderful bedside manner. He's patient, thoughtful and genuinely cares about his patients. It doesn't hurt that he's also highly intelligent and with excellent procedure skills. I couldn't ask for more in a doctor! Would highly recommend seeking treatment with him.
Office staff was very unprofessional and rude. Never again.

Took a few injections but they finally got my pain down to a decent level
Dr Dinger and his staff have always been careing and professional
I had an excellent experience with Dr. Dinger and his staff. The doctor answered all my questions and recommended treatment that will hopefully alleviate some or maybe all my pain. It was an informative first visit conducted in a kind, professional manner.
Never have I been so negatively treated as I tried to seek treatment as a new patient. It began with the staff namely, Jessica, who was rude and unprofessional. trying to secure an appointment with Dr. Dinger as I had tricare authorization, they insisted for records from other treating facilities for which there were none. They told me on the phone with my husband present that we don't believe you so they must confirm. in other words, new or old, patients aren't to be believed. When I left numerous calls the following day, I was finally contacted but I must of angered her in what was to be a long lunch (10am to 1pm). Once I secured an appt. for the following day in Dr. Dinger's furthest clinic from me, I called the clinic back to bring the behavior to someone's attention. A Desiree answered the call and when I didn't want give all of the details, she insisted and gave me the name of Alex Contu. I told her that I would email the Mr. Contu later that night and also bring it up to Dr. Dinger. However, not even 10 minutes after the phone call I was contacted by Mr. Contu. I thought, "wow maybe they do care", but sadly I believe Desiree immediately told Jessica and they or she brought it to Alex as a way to protect herself. Mr. Contu had already spoke with Dr. Dinger and that he echoed the doctors feelings that I wasn't a patient worth treating long term back pain and that I should look elsewhere. WOW???? Dr is ok but his staff did not properly submit insurance authorizations or necessary follow up leading to the following 2 appointments for injections being cancelled. I do not have time for that nonsense.

My mother is an 80 year old transfer patient from Dr. Gabriel who unfortunately passed away in April. She had been on 10-325 hydrocodone for 2 years with Dr. Gabriel. She has a host of severe back issues and was told she would no longer be prescribed that drug due to the opioid epidemic. While we have no issue with this, their office policy of not allowing her any other drug for 2 weeks while her drug screen comes back is inhumane. I believe patients should be evaluated individually. One size does not fit all. Tylenol3 was the best they would offer her in the interim. While we are going to try and make this work, we are not happy. We came to them with all of her medical documents from Dr. Gabriel. There is no reason to allow her to suffer. I also got the impression while speaking with them and they knew we were upset that they got some sort of opinion of me that I had a vested interest in her care other than her well being which really upset me. I am hopeful that everything will turn out better for her here because he did seem interested in trying to find ways to fix her issues. My only issue is the interim and what she is having to deal with until or if other alternatives may be found. So far Dr. Dinger's office have been very professional and up front with the whole drug testing before anything is prescribed. I definitely have no problem with that policy and any reasonable person wouldn't either. Great service so far.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dinger for over five years. I first saw him about neck and back pain, in my attempt to try everything I could before taking the surgery route. In every interaction he was and is, consistently thorough, caring, timely, and above all else skilled. Eventually I did have to go to a surgical solution for both neck and back. The back surgery released nerves that could now only send continuous pain signals. I eventually got a spinal cord stimulator, that was a life changer
Dr. Dinger is amazing. His knowledge and Expertise are second to none. I was having shoulder pain and he fixed it. He explained everything to me and made me feel comfortable and at ease. His staff was equally exceptional and very helpful and made the whole process go smoothly. I highly recommend Dr. Dinger!!!
What a joke. My disabled mother was there to be treated for tendinitis. She has no use of her right arm. I had to drop her off & pick kids up from school & when I returned found out they tried to turn her away because she couldnt fill out her ppwk. She asked for assistance from a nurse & was told they don’t have time for that & it wasn’t their responsibility. I filled it out, then the dr sent her on her way without treatment. Said insurance had to approve. That should’ve been done b4 the appt.
Dr Diaz botched my pain pump implant. Refuses to answer calls when patients need him. I have to miss family at Christmas because his holiday is more important than mine. The reason 0 pain meds since surgery.
Dr D is a great physcian, I have been with him for 9 yrs . Just to let everyone know he is still in the same location as he was 2yrs ago.love him for helping me with my chronic pain. He is the best
The absolute worst patient care that I have witnessed in my life. My fiance went in for injections in her lower back to alleviate the pain caused by herniated spinal discs. After the procedure she was in excruciating pain...having had this procedure done twice before, she knew that there was something wrong. She also started to run a fever of 102 degrees. When she called to speak with Dr. Diaz, she was told that the pain was supposed to last for 2 to 3 days. She explained that this was not just substantial pain...this was pain that was unbearable. The nursing staff finally then conceded to contact the doctor. After a day and a half of paging the good doctor, he has yet to call back though he's been contacted many times. Ironically, my fiance has worked in a pain management capacity in the medical field for several years, so she has a good idea of the quality of patient care that can be expected...and this practice has failed miserably. For a doctor that specializes in pain management, I would expect to be dealing someone who actually cares about their patients and would take their hippocratic oath seriously. Since we were referred to this practice through military Tricare, we'll be following up with them and seeking the removal of Advanced Pain Management and Rehab as an Authorized Tricare Provider. In the beginning things went great. Got shots in my back but didn't help at all, so he referred me to a doctor that is out of network causing me tons of problems.. Also wouldn't provide me with medication while I tried to find another in network provider. Finally today the pharmacist from Schertz Pharmacy, which is outstanding, got me back on some type of medication by calling Dr dinger, and going to bat for me. The office would not return any calls, canceled all appointments and generally ignored my issues. Like a black balled patient. Definitely not happening anymore.. In all honesty this guy doesn't deserve a star. He's the biggest a**hat I've ever met. I had major back surgery and he gave me the worst treatment ever. I was in constant pain for 6 months and when it finally came time to give me a painkiller he told me to find another doctor. So I did and they couldn't believe this guy wasn't giving me the proper treatment I was supposed to be getting after the surgery I had. He's probably a good choice if you have a sore thumb or a sore muscle.
WOW! All I can say is WOW! staff is friendly and attentive to my needs and pain level. The doctor and his PA both seem very compassionate and willing to try new treatments to ease my pain. Every time I have a question or concern, the staff patiently takes their time to explain the answers to insurance questions to medication questions to treatment plans. And now with the pharmacy on the scene, my prescriptions are always on time. Thank you so much!!!

I was a patient of Dr. Steven Dinger for approximately 2 yrs and would still be seeing him if I hadn't moved out of state...I love this man...he was so good to me and so caring. He has a heart the size of Texas...wish I was still there..Thanks Doc...I miss your smiling face
I don't think I've ever encountered a doctor that was more negligent in my life. Dr. Monis left me without meds and when I had to file a complaint on him for it, he lied claiming he didn't. He took credit for the ER doctor's prescriptions. He then retaliated against me for utilizing my rights to file a complaint and refused to provide treatment for 30 days as required by law. His "injections" cause me additional pain. To my face, he spoke on a treatment plan. I only saw him 2 times in the office and neither plan he came up with was executed. After going back to my other pain management office and expressing what's happened, they informed me that he was once a doctor of theirs and had the same bad habits. Additionally, they've been getting calls from His current patients with the same complaints and asking them to take over their care. This doctor cares nothing about his patience and will leave you without your pain medicine without a second thought. If you decide to make an appointment with any physician in that practice, I wish you the best as I can't speak to anyone else but Dr. Monis and he's as worse as they come. I was with Dr. Dinger for over 5 years, even before he had his own practice. He did keep me out of pain for my back but his staff was often very rude. Then his business got so big he didn't have time to see his patients and I had to see a nurse. Well I don't feel like I'm paying to see a nurse and I said so. Also he had not requested an MRI be done in over 5 years. So when I left and went to my primary care provider he said why haven't you had an MRI in all these yrs. I don't know why.

First appointment was stupid. They had me take a drug test, asked me why I was there and told me they couldn't do anything until my drug screen came back. Dr. Stephen Dinger is an excellent pain management doctor, and his staff is just as wonderful. He's the first PM doctor I've seen that actually cares about my ongoing back problems and pain, and my quality of life. Beginning with my first visit, we discussed a plan to help improve my pain level, he didn't just hand me a prescription and send me on my way like previous doctors have. In response to the previous reviews, yes, you have to have a referral from your PCP, that's standard at any PM office, as is being drug tested. That's just the way it is. I'm very happy with Dr. Dinger and his staff, and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of professional pain management. Not only would I - I HAVE!! Dr. Dinger has been treating my spinal discs for years now. I first came to him needing a crutch to walk - and now I am back to exercising (okay, even if a bit limited!) and am completely pain free! Yes, he has advanced in his treatment plan to take care of my pain; which is just fine with me. Most importantly, he is going to treat my adult son who can barely walk and is in excruciating pain all the time. Keep him in your hearts, and I'll keep you informed!
