Service at WMC health is terrible. Good luck calling and speaking to anyone within 30 minutes. Physician lacks any personality. Very limited time spent with this patient. Beware of extra costs that may be billed as ‘hospital’ visit. I was charged $100.00 co-pay for a hearing test and told it was not a facility visit but rather a hospital visit. The test was done at the Atrium at 1 Webster avenue. There should be some sign in the doctors office that states use of the audiologist may incur additional copay not covered by insurance.
I had a 10:30 appointment on January 26th at 10:30 there was 1 other patient in the waiting room 15- 20 minutes later another patient who was taken before me after about 50 minutes later I was moved to an exam room by a nurse. Another 13 minutes went by . So left the room to let the receptionist know I wouldn't be waiting any longer and that I lost $250 by taking time out of my day and job that I work with patients for over 28 years and if I'm running late by 10 -15 I let the patient know. This is unacceptable ! Customer/ patient service obviously doesn't exist here in this office. There are no excuses for this if Dr Hemmerdinger was running late you could let me know on my phone, after all you have my number or when I checked in you could have let me know or while I was sitting right in front of your face for almost an hr, you could have let me know. Look forward to your response. Avoid! Dr. Steven A. Hemmerdinger was fine in person; however, I was billed more than $1,400 for a nasal endoscopy, a procedure I have had multiple times in the past that never cost more than a small fraction of what he charged. It was coded as "endoscopy," not "nasal endoscopy;" the American Rhinologic Society website lists a specific code for "nasal endoscopy." As of this writing, I have called the billing organization, WMCHealth Physicians, three times; the first two representatives indicated that the procedure seemed to be miscoded; the third said a review said it was properly coded, and said (as a prior representative also had) that Dr. Hemmerdinger's office would call me. I have not heard from his office at all in the month and a half that I have been calling about this. Prevent the hassle, save your medical dollars; visit a different ENT doctor.
I have been seeing Dr Hemmerdinger for many years. I started seeing him in Chester NY where he works with Middletown Medical. For convenience I then started at his main office in Ardsley N.Y. My main issue has been ear wax which he treats. I have also seen him for ear aches and soar throat. I have found him to be a very professional and friendly doctor. He takes the time to explain what is going on and what I can do to help. I personally have never waited more then 15 minutes to se him and usually about 5 minutes. His staff is excellent , very friendly, polite, and professional. They have paperwork ready and are great for explaining issues. One time I showed up with no appointment with an earache and was in to see him very quickly. I would highly recommend him to my family or friends. I have been seeing Dr Hemmerdinger for many years. I had trouble breathing and heavy snoring for years, I have seen Dr. Hemmerdinger in Ardsley office. He scoped my nose and explained clearly what the problem is; mainly my inferior turbinates were much larger than normal though my septum with minimally deviated, he didn't push me for surgery and tried medical management one last time. As a physician myself I have tried medical management for years, still in vain. I saw him again in 2 months and we discussed the surgical option, he explained throughly what to expect from the surgery and how it will be during and after recovery in details, he addressed all my questions and concerns professionally. It has been a month since surgery "Septoplasty and inferior turbinectomy" and I can tell the significant difference before and after surgery; my breathing has significantly improved, that was evident on the 1st day I got the nasal stents out in his office after a week in recovery, besides my snoring is significantly better, and improving with more time into recovery. I'm overall a satisfied patient and happy with the surgery results. As a patient & physician as well, I do appreciate dr. Hemmerdinger's knowledge, skills, expertise and practicality, I'd definitely recommend him to any of my family or friends if an ENT surgeon is needed. Not personale at all. Very serious and not helpful. It was so awkward with him that I couldn't help but laugh and he kept pressing me for laughing and was not happy with me. Super weird. Im sure hes very smart but I would not recommend based on personality.
I appreciate dr. Hemmerdinger's knowledge, expertise, skills and practicality. I had my septoplasty and inferior turbinectomy with him and results are very satisfying for me, my breathing improved significantly and my snoring is much less now. Definitely would recommend him to any of my family and friends if an ENT surgeon is needed.

This man has horrible bedside manners and is arrogant and quite rude. He only spent 10 or 15 minutes with me after claiming he couldn't really help me, then literally just walked out of the office! Do not go to this man if you're looking for a compassionate, caring, personable doctor. You won't get that with him.
Just saw him. What a horrible doctor. Rude, dismissive and not personable at all. No sense of humor and acts like you're wasting his time. Not kind or professional. Wasted my time and a $50 co-pay for a barely five or ten minute visit to be told that nothing could be done for me except to check if I had any hearing loss. He wasn't even nice about it. When I questioned things for clarity, he almost seemed defensive. Then he just said what he had to say to me and abruptly walked out of the room. No goodbye, nice to meet you or sorry I couldn't help you. He really shouldn't be a doctor since he doesn't know how to treat people. I guess the ones that gave him a good review caught him on a good day. Meh.
I had a great experience with Dr. Hemmerdinger. He is a wonderful doctor. He does truly care about his patients. He took the time out to really explain to me about what was happening with my ear. He was very thorough in his examination and recommendations as to what treatment I need. I would definitely recommend him.
I was referred to him because I have an infection in my left ear that has subsided but am still having symptoms. My primary care doctor referred me to the wonderful Dr. Cameron Budenz who i'd seen before and had surgery done earlier this year in my right ear, but unfortunately she left this practice, so I was referred by their staff to "Doctor" Hemmerdinger. He is by far the rudest doctor I have ever met. He answered none of my questions, he told me that I don't have Eustachian Tube dysfunction despite my primary care doctor (who has about 30 years of experience over "Doctor" Hemmerdinger) diagnosing me with it, and Hemmerdinger's own audiologist telling me after my hearing test that something was wrong with my ear drum. He saw me for no more than five minutes, looked in my ear once, told me it was because I smoke cigarettes (which I am quitting) and that it will go away on it's own. I had a major inner ear infection in my right ear about a year ago that ended up requiring surgery, and Dr. Budenz never once even considered that smoking was the cause, in fact I even asked, and she told me that while it wouldn't help, it wasn't going to make it worse either. (I understand smoking is bad and am currently on nicorette and only smoke occasionally, which I told him) He was also rude to my father, who did the favor of driving me from Duchess County to Ardsley to see this hack because my father had to take an important phonecall as he was entering the room. Every time I tried to ask why my ear drum was dull, now confirmed by three doctors other than him, INCLUDING HIS OWN AUDIOLOGIST, he told he it wasn't, despite barely even looking at my ear. I also told him I was experiencing discharge and pain, and he once again interrupted me, almost YELLED at me to stop smoking, told me to buy a saline rinse that I cannot afford and then tried to shoo me out of his exam room, when I asked why even his audiologist said there was a problem with my ear drum, he ignored me and walked away. The man is an absolute joke. His bedside manner is terrible. I have more idea of how the ear works than he does (I did study for several years), and his billing department...don't even go down that route. I cannot believe he even made it through medical school. I'm surprised there is one big enough to contain his ego. I will be seeking the help of an actual professional, and if I have permanent damage in my left ear, as I am a musician and already had to give up my profession once due to the earlier right ear infection leaving me with tinnitus and hyperacusis, but I had learned to live with that until this one happened, I will be taking him to court for malpractice, if you can even call what he did "practice". Dr did not introduce himself when he entered the exam room. As soon as he was in the doorway of the room he asked "so, something is stuck in ear?"!!! No hello, nothing!! I was there for my special needs daughter and he seemed to be in rush. He took care of the problem but there were no instructions for prevention or no communication unless I asked him a question!! Surprisingly ,before leaving, he asked my daughter to give him five!! If he is practising for 21 years, he needs to learn how to interact with patients!! I had seen Dr. Hemmerdinger many times for my ear issues. I have bad ear wax and he was very clear on how to keep the wax under control. I highly recommend Dr. Hemmerdinger. He is the best when it comes to your ears and hearing!
I brought my wife in to see Dr. Hemmerdinger. We saw him in the Pomona office. I was very impressed with his office. His staff was nice and very friendly. His assistant was very nice and welcoming. Dr. Hemmerdinger was caring and very polite. I read some of these negative reviews at first I was hesitant to see him, but glad I did. I give him and his staff 10 stars!!!
Early this spring, I felt like I had a huge lump in my throat, so I got a referral from my PCP to see Dr. Hemmerdinger. During my appointment, the doctor listened to me speak about my complaints, put a scope in through my nose to look at my throat (without asking permission (given apparently I now have to pay for this pointless scope now I'm pretty pissed he didn't ask (given I told him I need to know of all costs before I do any treatments/ procedures), told me I have vocal nodules, but he did not recommend taking any action on his part. He recommended that he does nothing and if anything gets worse on my part to come back. He made it sound like he was saving me money and unnecessary procedures. Since he could not help me and did not prescribe any sort of treatment plan or follow up help, I assumed this would not be a problem. He just told me he didn't recommend doing anything. At the time, I appreciated his honesty. Now, months later, I see they want $542 from me from a $232 office visit (To be told they can't do anything to help. Literally nothing was gained from me going there., a $365 nasal scope. I was very upfront about needing to know all costs because of my budget. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED AT THE FRONT IF I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PAYMENT AND THEY SAID NO!! I am VERY angry with the poor communication from the billing department. To owe $542 for a visit that was in NO WAY HELPFUL, is abominable. Early this spring, I felt like I had a huge lump in my throat, so I got a referral from my PCP to see Dr. Hemmerdinger. He's a horrible, inconsiderate and uncaring doctor that I wish I never came in contact with. He didn't really care to hear what I had to say about my injury that happened to my nose. And when he was done talking to me he just went and sat down at his computer. I asked if I needed any paper work to bring out to the front and he didn't even look at me when he said no you're good. RUDE!!!

The Dr. is very nice and helpful but the staff and office needs great improvement. traveling from miles way for appointments there's no reason we have to wait 30 minutes after our scheduled appointment time to see the doctor. No papers to fill out and we arrived 10 minutes before scheduled time. a30 minutes have gone by and still no doctor. Doesn't make sense. Very thorough and knowledgeable. Very pleasant.
Dr. Hemmerdinger is great. I trust him completely. He listens to my concerns and addresses them accordingly. He has never steered my wrong. Great bed side manners.

The absolute worst. This man has terrible people skills and acts as if you are a nuisance instead of a patient with legitimate concerns. If there is another doctor in your network that you can go see, I recommend you do that. Do not waste your time, energy or money seeing this man.

I have seen Dr. Hemmerdinger in his Poughkeepsie office. After seeing a few other ENT doctors, I went to him. He was able to tell me what is going on with my throat and how to treat it at my first visit. He used a poster on the wall to explain and show me what is happening. He took his time with me and spoke so I would understand. I would highly recommend Dr. Hemmerdinger.

I made an appointment and was able to be seen the next day. I had years of sinus problems and surgery in the past. Dr Hemmerdinger was the first to tell me the underlying reason for my problem. He allowed me to voice all of my questions and concerns. So far he has been right with his diagnosis and treatment. He has always called me back on the same day.

My daughter had an appointment with Dr. Hemmerdinger in his Poughkeepsie office. He knew exactly what she needed to feel better. He explained what to expect for her surgery in detail. He made us feel very comfortable and know that our daughter was getting the best care possible.
Dr. Hemmerdinger has had an excellent bedside manner while caring for our son. He has had two successful surgeries thus far and we could not be more pleased with the care he has received.

Has treated me for various ENT issues & operated on me (thyroidectomy).I find him a very nice person & outstanding physician & surgeon. He was the first doctor to correctly diagnose my thyroid problem, which had gone undetected for decades. I was apprehensive about the surgery needed to correct it, but he guided me through it with understanding & kindness, explained everything clearly & thoroughly & very patiently answered all my questions & concerns. Surgery went perfectly, excellent followup!

The facility practice is nice .However this Dr.has very poor patients skills. I happen to be in medicine ,and I know people say skills matter and Dr personalities do not,but not so to me. It should be a holistic experience. He hardly spoke ,never cracked a smile and did not explain a painful procedure.I guess he was competent enough but it was a simple procedure, yet painful . Note to Dr.. There are lots of other ENTs in Westchester.....a connection to your patients is key.
He was rude & so dismissive of my pain that I left his office in tears. He completely over charged my insurance & due to my deductible structure, I paid this man to insult me and make me cry. Please do not waste your time & money.

He ignored most of my symptoms, he did perform the tests recommended by my primary doctor, he did no tests at all. He did not explain anything well to me. He brushed off my concerns when I brought them to him.
