He’s very upfront great surgeon

Worst service I’ve ever had, Doctor was rude and non concerned of my issue. Front desk was great, nurse that came to get me was great. 2 other employees in back in X-ray were arguing and my nurse kept telling them that she has a patient sitting here and that they needed to stop arguing but they continue to do so and the guy also came out and stated something smart to her telling her basically not to tell him what to do. After x-ray doctor came into my room he was very nonchalant he stated what’s wrong what’s the problem when my doctor has already sent in the referral as to why I am here. So I didn’t understand why he was asking me that. Dr. Kaine came over and started doing all kind of our motions with my arm telling me to push and saying you can push harder than that. Then Dr. Kane stated oh you won’t be having surgery on the shoulder. So sorry to disappoint you. I wasn’t sure why he stated that. He did asked me where I worked. I told him I drove school buses for several years so I’ve been dealing with this shoulder, arm and neck problem the whole time over the years. but I’ve been out of work now driving Uber since Covid came about. I haven’t drove a school buses in some years now. I was offended by his attitude and how he spoke to me. I prefer to see a different doctor. He just didn’t seem really concerned with my well-being. I have had my shoulder checked a few years prior. I was told it was arthritis and inflammation. It has seem to have gotten worse over the years some days I can barely move my arm and some days I’m fine with moderate pain . I wouldn’t want to go back to that office again. I worked with Dr Kane years ago when he was at UTMB in Galveston and I was a new PTA working in the Rehab Department. I was able to work with lots of his patients and observe their follow up appointments when Dr Kane saw them. I was able to learn stuff that helped me decades later as a therapist seeing my own patients. Dr Kane is very thorough, knowledgeable and always does what is best for the patient. He was always very personable to the therapy staff and willing to teach students. Now that I have a significant shoulder problem, I wish Dr Kane was closer to Texas because I would love for him to be able to help me. I would highly recommend him if you need an orthopedic surgeon. Dr.Kane is superior at his job and highly dedicated to the patients having great results and continued good health.

Good doctor

I thank John R Barrett, MD for his great care at WellStar Atl Med Center, ER on 11/20/18, but I'd put 0 start in this review because I tried to make the follow up appointment with Steve M Kane, MD (as he told me to) but whomever answer my call, after I told her I didn't have insurance, she replied with bad attitude that I have to call somewhere else and gave me another number, unfortunately I can't recall her name and she didn't even want to give me a reason why I couldn't get the appointment with them. Dr. Kane definitely knows his stuff, but his bedside manner could use some work. I had several appointments with him, pre-op and post-op and he consistently talked only to my boyfriend when he started speaking about the medical aspect of everything. He made no eye-contact with me except to ask the question, "You know this is going to leave a scar, right?" As a student in my third year of medical school, I found his demeanor offensive and off-putting.

Dr. Kane has done many orthopedic surgeries as a result of a serious accident that pretty much destroyed me physically. He is one of the most competent individuals you will ever encounter. It's a shame he is so far away. Atlanta has the best doctor in orthopedic surgery, bar none. He is without peer!

Dr. Kane and his entire staff were quick, professional and polite. My son had seen another doctor first who immediately recommended surgery for a shoulder pain. Dr. Kane reviewed the MRI and said that surgery would be the very LAST resort. He wanted him to do lots of PT first which is what we wanted as well. It appears that surgery is not his go-to recommendation as it seems to be for some doctors. I can't praise Dr. Kane and his team enough, and I will certainly recommend him to others!
