Dr. Sultan A. Lakhani is in the wrong line of business, He does not listen nor care about how you're feeling or what you need, He doesn't answer to anyone when hes being called and gives an attitude when you try to explain whats happening, When being called multiple times he threatens to "Stop treatment", I wouldn't even take an animal to him, He needs to be reported and taken out of this line of work immediately Dr. Sultan A. This guy is not friendly and attacked me at my last appt, that will be my very last appointment. He comes with a notorious reputation, caveat emptor

If you are in a hurry to get to the next patient or otherwise frustrated by questions or concerns expressed by family, that should not be reflected in dismissive behavior toward patients. I tried to tell this doctor how my mother had answered with much lucidity 15 fact-based questions the previous evening, but simply needed to be given ENOUGH TIME TO RETRIEVE A RESPONSE AND TO SPEAK IT. I believe he missed a diagnostic opportunity b/c he did not give my 82 year-old mother with dementia ample time to answer his questions. I also asked him to check his ego, as he got defensive when I told him I have a mental health licensure background. I did not move my Mom b/c apparently he has the Geri-Psych market cornered for her insurance provider. He is the best psychiatrist I have ever seen. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. He is not a Pill Popper though so if that's what you're looking for he's not your man.

I believe he has a lifetime of listening to depression and mental illnesses etc. and needs to think about retiring. He is only interested in his wardrobe, his family and his Temple. He no longer cares about the patients under his care. He was a caring psychiatrist about fifteen years ago. But time, age and a lifetime of listening to mental illnesses has caused him to shut down. Horrible horrible doctor. Does not listen to anything you say. If your suffering I would not recommend a animal to seek care from some one like him he is in the wrong line of business

Dr. Lakhani worked with myself and my mother when she was in the last few stages of Alzheimer's. Some may find him stern and abrupt. He is brilliant and our experience was that he offered knowledge, support, care and concern.

Excellent Doctor. I'm not sure why the other reviews state that he does not listen. He listens very well to me! He is NOT a pill person, so if you are only looking for meds, he is not your guy. He will prescribe medications as needed, based on your symptoms. If you go to follow up appointments and follow his direction for how to take your meds and go to therapy if he recommends it, he is excellent! I have been seeing him for 9 months and he has been very understanding and very helpful to me regarding my mental health. He also has an office in Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital buildings if you can't get downtown. Excellent Doctor. I'm not sure why the other reviews state that he does not listen. Dr. Lakhani is a wonderful, patient doctor who listens to my needs, takes my concerns seriously, and has provided me with my medications as needed and recommended to me a wonderful Therapist as well. I am extremely happy to have them both as my mental health team! Highly recommended.

My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's by a neurologist who could not give medication for her depression. We started seeing Dr. Lakhani and found him to be very helpful, especially in letting us know what to expect next as the disease progressed.

2nd visit with Dr. Lakhani and he was very rude. He didn't like that I had to stop a medication that was causing me horrible side affects and he got really mad and accused me of treating myself. He got really short with me, pretty much wrote a prescription and threw me out. Said "come back in two months". I will be finding another doctor.

Spent less than 10 minutes with my mother who has Alzheimers and asked her only a few obvious questions and got billed for almost $300. Anyone, even one without a medical degree, could have performed the analysis to confirm her memory was gone. He is somewhat arrogant and does not provide any information to the family. My impression is that he is running a good scam with the care facilities by charging a large fee for little meaningful service and of course passing that overcharge to insurance.

He is homophobic and not interested in the well-being or how his patient actually felt.
