Dr. Sovell was both professional and amicable. He performed the cystoscopy procedure quickly and relatively painlessly, and explained the findings in a positive manner. I also appreciated the fact that I was able to schedule the appointment only a few days out.

Very experienced and knowledgeable!

Had a very satisfactory first visit with Dr. Sovell. He answered all of my and my partner’s questions, explained the implications of the test results and made appropriate recommendations based on all of the relevant circumstances in my case. I could not have been more pleased.

Dr. Sovell was professional and courteous. He removed a tumor from my left kidney and was up front about the procedure the outcome and the recovery. He listened to my concerns and put me at ease. I would recommend Dr. Sovell and Minnesota urology to anyone if needed.

Minnesota Urology is the best! I’ve been seeing Dr. Chase Sovell for seven plus years and I feel the care I’ve received has been excellent. Entire staff is very professional and Dr. Sovell listens and communicates very well.

The appointment started on time and there was minimal waiting once I was called to the exam room. Dr Sovell was friendly and courteous when he entered the room. The exam went well, and we discussed the results of the screening.

Dr. Sovell is complete unempathetic to the pain of his patients - he will make you feel like you are a liar. His examination was painful and he did not listen. I was there for a work injury and he kicked my case manager out of the appointment despite expressing that I wanted them present. I would not recommend Dr. Sovell to anyone I care about. I was especially appreciative to be seen by Dr. Chase Sovell on such short notice (the very next morning) following up on my Urgent Care visit the previous afternoon. Dr. Sovell took considerable care to explain the next steps to address my urgent medical issue and answered my questions well.

My first thought about what I was dealing with was to let it go and nothing will happen. I realized after visiting with Dr. Sovell that my course of action might not be the best for me. I have seen Dr Sovell for about 10 years. When you have had kidney stones multiple times you have to have someone who is you can trust and you can get in to see without waiting months to get an apt. I would highly recommend Dr Sovell!

Dr. Sovell removed cancer from my right kidney last year. My hospital stay was 32 hours. My annual checkup indicated an elevated PSA. He ordered a biopsy and explained in detail the procedure and scheduled within two weeks. I have complete confidence in his diagnosis and treatment.

Dr C Sovell was very pleasant. He explained what I had. I got an appointment right away. Staff was very helpful too. I would refer him to my friend.

Dr Sovell is the surgeon who removed my kidney cancer - the surgery was great (uneventful and quick recovery). When I was in for my six month check, I mentioned I was having a hard time breathing, even though that was unrelated to my kidneys. He took the time to listen to me and ordered a CT scan of my lungs as well as my kidney. That CT scan discovered that I had thyroid cancer. Thanks to Dr Sovell, I was able to have it removed before it spread very far. It was scary to have cancer twice in one year when I'm in my early forties and have teenage daughters. My whole family is grateful for Dr Sovell and his willingness to spend time with his patients. Dr Sovell is an exceptional Dr. He takes time with his patients and listens to them.. He is personable, thorough and an excellent surgeon. With kidney stones, just before covid hit, he pushed me through the red tape quickly and got it taken care of successfully before a big trip. Luckily because I would have had to have surgery out of town during covid had he not done this for me. I see too many disgruntled postings about doctors from people with agendas that don't reflect this excellent doctor and person's care

My initial first appointment with Dr. Sovell was professional. The most important thing he did was help calm my concerns over the reason for the appointment. I would recommend him for his expertise and manner.

My appointment with Dr. Sovell was very pleasant. He listened and understood my experience with bladder surgery and recovery. We actually bonded with our previous experiences in property management. I am looking forward to a long and productive patient, doctor relationship.

Excellent experience. He ruled out cancer and eased my concerns while still recommending surgery that was necessary. He was very professional throughout. He carefully reviewed my chart (even during a recent online followup), asked questions, explained my situation, gave recommendations and then gave me time for any other questions or concerns i might have. I cannot recommend Dr. Sovell highly enough. I see negative reviews here yet Allina's page has super high ones and his background includes Chief of Staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, ranked the top metro Hospital by US News and World Report. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Minnesota Urology and on the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation Board. To broaden his knowledge, Dr Sovell completed the Physician Leadership College at the University of St Thomas. He has pioneered in his field. I experienced an approachable Dr well versed in my wife's issues who was personable, humorous and humane. His thoroughness and flexibility were impressive

Dr. Sovell did an excellent job of diagnosing my condition, providing me with accurate information and advice, but most importantly he and his team performed a successful surgical procedure. Everything he told me to expect, in fact happened. I was greatly impressed by his competence and professionalism. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Sovell performed a diagnostic procedure on me. It was the most painful medical procedure I've ever experienced (think root canal without novocaine). He was completely oblivious to my pain and expressed no empathy whatsoever.

On a Saturday morning at 8:30 I went to Abbott Hospital with a kidney stone. The stone was about 8mm and it was blocking my urethra in the upper part of the tube. It was causing pain and blood in my urine. On Saturday evening Dr. Sovell called me and stated he would do a procedure on me Sunday. I asked the nurses Sunday morning if they knew what time Dr. Sovell would be there. They said they did not know. Sunday afternoon the nurse came back and took me down to pre-op. The staff had me ready then Dr. Sovell came in and told my wife and I that he was going to just put a stent in next to the stone and leave the stone in place (blocking and causing blood and pain). I would have to come back in roughly 2 weeks to have him go inside and blast the stones. Dr. Sovell also told us he had physically ran to the hospital as he was wiping sweat from his head and arms. My wife and I both feel that the operating room staff was ready for him to do the procedure but he told them that he had to take a shower first. After the procedure I was a mess. When I first got back to my room and had to pee, I had LOTS of blood and pain and just about passed out as the nurse caught me and called for help. At this time I asked for my wife. The staff found her in the surgery waiting room for over 2 1/2 hours. Dr. Sovell NEVER CAME AND TALKED TO HER. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!! He never even came and talked to us anytime before I left the hospital Monday afternoon. Dr. Sovell, if you don't want to be on call, do us all a favor and get someone else that cares about patients and not so concerned about your weekend plans. People are in hospital for a reason. The hospital staff and my stay at Abbott was an A+. I have no complaints on the staff, just Dr. Sovell! Later that week I was running out of pain meds so I called his office and talked to Esther. I asked her to ask to Dr. Sovell for a refill of the pain meds and she stated without even checking with him, "I'm sure he won't authorize a refill of the pain meds and to take Tylenol". I don't believe that is her call! I would highly recommend avoiding Dr. Sovell and dealing with his nurse Esther. I ended up going to Methodist and had Dr. Kesha do the procedure. They were able to get me in 6 days sooner then Dr Sovell scheduled date. Dr Kesha and her staff were GREAT! I'm staying with her in the future. We could not be happier with our experience with Dr. Sovell. My wife was diagnosed with kidney cancer and we were referred to Dr. Sovell by our oncologist. He was very patient with us and explained everything to us as well as letting us know what our options were. He removed her kidney and so far things have been going very well.

Dr. Sovell attributed my rising psa over the past 8-10 years as a result of an enlarged prostate. I switched to MHealth, Dr. Warlick this past year and found I had metastasized cancer( Gleason 9). I feel Dr Sovell was not thorough nor aggressive enough in his evaluations and failed to have a biopsy or MRI done when my psa was over 20. I was always uncomfortable with Dr. Sovell's demeanor (glib and somewhat dismissive) and should have changed urologist years ago.

I went in for a Vasectomy. Dr Sovell was nice but I was not given enough numbing agent so when they snipped I jumped out of my chair. After the procedure I was not able to walk for 1.5 months. I was diagnosed with prostatitis and still have it to this day, I would have been better off going to great clips!!!

Robotic kidney surgery! He is fabulous! He took out my cancerous cyst and my recovery time was very short. I had the traditional cyst on my right kidney and the robotic on my left. There was no comparison! Go with Dr. Sovell and the robotic cyst removal!!!!!!!!! He is great.

I had a prostate biopsy with Dr Sovell and any pre-procedural anxiety was for naught. I also want to recognize the nurse that worked along with him - Sara(h?). They were both fantastic. They made me feel as comfortable as possible and seemed to genuinely care about my experience. They were the epitome of professionalism.

We all have high expectations when we find a need to see any doctor, perhaps more so when it comes to seeing a Urologist. Already the outcome may not be good and as patients we can't help but feel that way so trust and confidence in a physician is critically important to each of us. Many of us come un-armed—we know little about our potential disorder or how to treat it—and thus we depend 101% on our physician and most of us have no choice. We work, have families and the many responsibilities associated with that, including school, second jobs and no job at all. I'm retired, read peer review in retirement to publish free medical books that are downloaded globally, by doctors, medical researchers whose work is included and academics of all types from all over the world.. I came to Dr. Sovell's office armed more than most having read the peer review, literally 1000s of reports because my visit touched on several of the books I'd already published. And I can't even find the words to explain how fortunate I am to have been referred to Dr. Sovell. He's an extremely well educated physician/surgeon who proved so when I raised the issue of the very latest genetic test and how it worked and he had read about another even newer genetic test and explained how and why it—the same type of genetic test providing the same data but developed by a different lab and performed slightly differently—was a more reliable test. And he was right. There were other issues discussed under similar circumstances and I consider myself fortunate to have found Dr. Sovell on only my second try. If I can't develop a certain amount of trust, like the willingness to leave my 8-year-old daughter at a doctors home for the weekend, I immediately schedule with the next medical professional recommended by my family physicians list of doctors he has some kind of relationship with albeit often minimal. Dr. Sovell comes highly recommended and his personal staff as well as the staff he's surrounded by are equally as capable and just as sincerely concerned about your high quality long-term health. I won't be going anywhere else for urology and related issues unless Dr. Sovell sends me somewhere else. :) We all have high expectations when we find a need to see any doctor, perhaps more so when it comes to seeing a Urologist. Dr. Sovell has treated me with several procedures for kidney stones over several years. He is efficient, thorough, and great bedside manner. I was passed off to him by another physician at the practice and am so glad I was. His schedulers and nurses are very good. He is a great doctor and an outstanding surgeon.

Absolutely terrible. Would not recommend this physician to anybody. Unresponsive and irresponsible. Go anywhere but here, unless you want to be disappointed.

We drove 6 hours after waiting 3 months for answers only to get no answers at all! We came in and Dr. Sovell had not even made him self familiar with my brothers' case. He said he would meet with the Radiologist at Abbott on Wed or Thurs and call us asap. We have still not heard a word from this Dr. I am sick over this. I do not think he is doing a good job maybe he has too many patients????

Monday 9/14/15 10:30AM Appt with Dr. Sovell My father is 79 and has alzheimer's, uses a walker and is very prone to falling and passing out when standing. Julie J. the nurse was very abusive, and argumentative with us. In order to do the procedure- he would have to stand or sit, whatever his primary mode to urinate is. Julie J. asked my father which he does, he hesitated and said I stand. I then said, no, you sit now. Dr M has requested that he sit whenever using the bathroom due to fall risk. When I told Julie J this, she said we'll do it standing. I again said no, he may fall, and that is NOT the way he does it at home. She said "we'll do it my way" I asked to see Dr. Sovell, she said we didn't have an appointment with him, but with her. I then got up and told Julie J that I was going to leave the room, and she would be responsible for him if he fell. I went to the waiting room and asked to see the office manager Rhonda. I told her the situation and she said she'd take care of it. Julie J. then walked my father out to the waiting room where she said she would not do the procedure today, because they didn't have the staff to do it, and that's what Dr Sovell wanted. I asked to speak with the Dr and again she refused. She never asked questions and was rude and put my father into a bad and unsafe situation.
