My first appointment with Dr. Ugarte was very good. He was very professional and caring. When I went to Northfield Hospital to get the MRI that was order by Dr. Ugarte they had a order for a alta sound. I don't know who's mistake it was . All I know is that it cost me a extra trip to Northfield. Sorry I can't give thee experience a fire Star. My first appointment with Dr. Ugarte was very good. He was very professional and caring. Rhonda was very helpful finding another appointment when I had to reschedule. However they are booking out several months for new patients.

Dr. Ugarte is extremely thorough in his approach, incredibly knowledgeable about treatment options and possesses a bedside manner that far exceeds expectations.

Procedure was prompt and professional. Like most men having a vasectomy, my anxiety was on stun going into the office, but the doctor and assistant were great and kept conversation rolling the entire time. Dr. Ugarte and the staff at Minnesota Urology are professional and empathetic. I had an appointment to have a catheter removed following a kidney and bladder infection treatment at an emergency room. Dr. Ugarte went well beyond the nominal reason for the appointment resulting , to my relief, in a plan to treat the underlying cause of the infection. I am now looking forward to scheduled laser surgery to remedy a long persistent difficult condition of BPH. Dr. Ugarte and the staff at Minnesota Urology are professional and empathetic. I felt like I was in a cattle pen getting moved from one thing to the next without explanation of why or what for. As I was trying to ask questions I was literally escorted out the door . I doubt he even could tell you my concerns . I was given a drug prescription with no explanation of what it was supposed to do! Was just told to call if it didn’t work and they try another one! It didn’t do anything but not sure what it was supposed to do for my problem anyway. I will never go there again or recommend that clinic. It is very easy to make an appointment. Check in is efficient . I have never had to wait very long to be seen. I gave 3 stars not because Dr. Ugarte did bad work. It was our 1st appt. with him, overall he seems professional and has possibly found fault with my previous procedure. We (my wife and I) really dont have enough to comment about at this time. I hope to give 4 or 5 stars in the future.

Dr Roland Ugarte is most knowledgeable, and the best a urologist in the entire state of Minnesota!????

Dr. Roland is an amazing surgeon. My vasectomy procedure took 15 minutes and I had a speedy recovery. I would recommend him to anyone thinking about having this procedure.

Dr. Roland Ugarte has been very helpful to me over many years as I have an unusual prostate condition: consistently high PSA readings, yet no cancer discovered via tests and MRI. I appreciate his thorough and practical approach to this situation, one that other men may experience. Dr. Ugarte was super helpful! I've been struggling with the same issue for so long and after numerous long visits to the ER and many doctors, I thought I'd always have this problem. But, when he came into the exam room, he had already reviewed my chart and had a quick course of action for me. I haven't had the same problem since. He answered all my questions. A few years ago I had come to this clinic. My experience at that time was horrific thanks to the nurses and the front desk staff. I had major anxiety having to return. I am pleased to say. The front desk staff is different and they are so sweet. The nurse that helped me was also very friendly. The difference between my first visit and this one is night and day. Dr. Ugarte was friendly and took his time with me and addressed all my concerns. He didn't judge me or make me feel this issue was my fault. It was a very short wait to get in for my appointment. Everything was handled efficiently. Dr. Ugarte has been my Urologist for 9 years. He was my surgeon over 8 years ago when I had prostate cancer. The surgery was successful. Dr. Ugarte is very skilled and also very friendly.

He followed up with a phone call after a subsequent test was ordered, further clarifying the test results and my next steps on the path toward healing. I was referred to Dr Ugarte by my family doctor, I went to see him, he looked at my ct scan and told me what needed to be done straight out, so we schedule my surgery and it went very well, seen him for my follow up and he told me everything looked good and what I had to have done in the future, very nice doctor

Dr Ugarte and I go way back 20 years, always working together to address my BPH issue and trying to make sure it doesn’t advance into the big C. So far, so good. His advice and counsel have been excellent, making sure I’m kept informed on the latest treatment protocols. We agree on the watchful waiting approach, knowing that aggressive treatments can result in unfavorable outcomes. Although the time may come for more aggressive treatment, I feel confident Dr Ugarte will know when to take that step. After suffering from urinary problems I got an appointment to see Dr Ugarte. He listened to my explanation and seemed truly concerned about my plight. After examining me he prescribed a treatment which we hope will resolve my difficulty. I recommend Dr Ugarte.

A very positive experience for both my wife & me with a very difficult situation. Dr Ugarte took the time (on Christmas Eve day) to go over results of biopsies & treatment/open surgery plan. MRI, biopsies & follow ups to them were very prompt, during a time when many hospitals & clinics were under government lockdowns. The surgery was complicated with excessive mesh installed 4 years prior for hernia repair. The incision healed very well & staff from the time in the hospital to a couple weeks later at the clinic watched it closely. I had Dr. Ugarte's cell phone # & he encouraged me to call if any issues. He responded immediately when my catheter plugged, offering to take care of it after hours but since we live in Buffalo it was easier at the emergency room rather than driving to Edina. 2 days later it plugged again. We had an appointment that morning that was moved up & Dr. Utz went over the options to replace it on site at the clinic (which we did) or to have Dr. Ugarte, who was at Abbott that day, remove/replace there. I was to 90+% recovered & back at work 4 weeks after the surgery. I've been rollerblading 4-5 miles/day & am ~98% now. Dr. Ugarte pointed me to someone to assist in impotency recovery & that is going very well. The best news was my PSA score was 0! We are grateful! Dr Ugarte has been my urologist for many years since being referred to him by my FAA Airman Medical Examiner for a high PSA. He has tracked my enlarged prostate (a family history thing with high PSA) and when an increase in PSA occurred steps were taken to check for cancer or other reasons for a jump. What I greatly appreciated was his excellent description of the procedures and testing along the way and the prompt relay of results to me. Dr Ugarte is a very nice guy but I feel like he is pressured either by his clinic or his need for money to push through as many patients as possible as quickly as possible. Like other reviewers, I felt he did not want to spend the time to explain my situation or my course of treatment. Every time I asked a question he quickly answered it and got up. My testosterone was very low and the gel wasn't working. He looked at my level and agreed it was very low. Got up. Wait, what can we do about it. We can give you shots instead. Got up. Wait, what's the process. Explained it quickly, got up. Wait, can I start today. Sure got up and left. Nurse came in, gave the shot. No instructions on when to return, blood tests etc. Found a new urologist at a new clinic and it was like night and day. He explained everything, set up subsequent blood tests and visits. Dr. ugarte was very persistent in finding out way my PSA kept going up. After three biopsys he found cancer cells in a very difficult area to reach in my prostate. If not for his dedication to finding the reason and his great ability as a surgeon I would not be alive today. Nothing but praises for this fine doctor.

I brought my 91-year-old mother from a post-hospital stay recovery facility for an exam with Dr. Ugarte today. I was so pleased with the extraordinary way they treated us both. They were so kind and careful with my mother who is in pain most of the time and very frail. Everyone was so thoughtful. I would highly recommend this physician.

Be prepared to wait an hour, with no explanation. Then when you do get in, expect no bedside manner. I received such poor care that it resulted in an infection that I had to be taken by ambulance to hospital.

Only consulted less than 5 minutes and had his mind made up with my condition prior to entering the room. He ran no tests, did not physically examine anything, and talked over me when I tried explaining what was going on. Also, he answered a personal phone about two minutes into the consult. He is the most unprofessional specialist I have seen. I will not be returning to his practice. My husband took the day off work to drive me (due to my painful condition) and we drove 2 hours one way to get to Plymouth. It would have been nice if he would have at least given me 10 minutes and listened to my experience. Very disappointed. Only consulted less than 5 minutes and had his mind made up with my condition prior to entering the room. Doc, is fine.. but his nurses treat people like they are a bother and that they are stupid. I don't give low ratings.. but they take the prize.

Ugarte was great, his nurse really hated the fact that I was nervous. She was not a nice person, she didn't seem to care about my well being, seemed like she just wanted to get the procedure over with and onto the next patient. So, plan on being treated terribly by the nurse but Ugarte will be nice.

Highly skilled doctor; terrible dangerous service. Almost killed me, ruined my life. Was 100% continent, and having a great sex life. After surgery, incontinent for six months, completely impotent, no sex ever. Also, first urinary tract infections in my life, which were entirely the fault of this clinic. Very poor care. Nurse was hostile and mocking when I called to ask about my extremely painful urinary tract infection. Go to Minnesota Urology out in Maple Grove. Much kinder, more honest, more careful. Would absolutely avoid this guy. He utterly lacks any human compassion; with Ugarte there is no "care" in healthcare. It is a wonder he is allowed to practice medicine of any type. He does NOT spend any appropriate time with patients, even under the most severe diagnosis, nor does he provide adequate explanations, does not listen to patient. In addition, treatment is highly questionable. It may be time for his license to be revoked. Bottomline: AVOID at all costs!
