Dr. Daniel Mullen does amazing work. He replaced both my knees in 2017.

After having a torn meniscus repaired 10 years ago, my knee pain gradually returned and a friend referred me to Dr. Mullen. At my first visit xrays were taken in his office and he explained that bone-on-bone osteoarthritis was causing my pain; he then explained the treatment options available to me. I elected partial knee replacement, which was done 6 1/2 weeks ago and I'm more than pleased with the care I received and the outcome. After 6 weeks of PT, I've now regained full mobility and am able to walk without pain for the first time in months. I can't recommend him highly enough. After having a torn meniscus repaired 10 years ago, my knee pain gradually returned and a friend referred me to Dr. Mullen. At my first visit xrays were taken in his office and he explained that bone-on-bone osteoarthritis was causing my pain; he then explained the treatment options available to me. Dr. Mullen replaced my hip about 7 weeks ago. The entire experience from pre-op with his physician assistant and staff to the actual surgery went well. I was given a detailed packet ahead of time explaining how to prepare, what to expect during and after the procedure as well as FAQ's. Dr. Mullen spent a great deal of time answering my personal questions and addressing my concerns. I absolutely recommend Dr. Mullen and his office. Dr. Mullen replaced my hip about 7 weeks ago. If it were possible to leave zero stars, that would be my preference. The office manager Teresa seems terribly put out by her job. I booked a surgery 6 weeks in advance. 2.5 weeks before my procedure, they called to cancel my procedure because I had a change in insurance. Their policy was that they needed 14 days notice of the change prior to their pre-op appointment, which I called 14 days in advance. Today they indicate they need more time, even though they did not respond for several days to my request nor attempt to contact my new insurance, and unilaterally cancelled my surgery. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT subject yourself to the unprofessionalism, lack of support, rude behavior and condescending nature of both Teresa and Crystal. It almost seemed as if they are trying to outdo one another with how awful they can be to their patients. There are plenty of good surgeons out there that treat their patients with respect.

So I showed up for my appointment a little over 5 minutes early. Fairly quickly they got me in to an exam room. I waited for close to 45 minutes for the Dr. to see me. That is annoying but hardly worthy of a 1 star review. What is deserving of a 1 star review is spending less than 10 minutes, probably closer to 5 minute, reading a sheet of paper, telling me I need to call another Dr. and then charging me $157 and some change. You could have emailed me this info or called me to go over it. In fact, I asked your staff if that was something we could do and they said no, I had to come down in person. You didn't need to waste over an hour and a half of my time, when you include drive time, and charge me $157 for something that could have been handled in an email. This is why people hate the medical field. You guys are crooks. So I showed up for my appointment a little over 5 minutes early. Fairly quickly they got me in to an exam room. First, I can't say enough about the superb treatment I incurred from Dr mullen's staff. Always able to answer my questions, and help me through the process of my surgery. Second, is the doctor himself. Always available to listenand treat me with the same courtesy and concern he would his mother or any other of his relatives.

I had an ACL repair. Dr. Mullen was a great surgeon with an excellent bedside manner. His office staff were courteous and very knowledgeable. His office was spotless also.

Had my Left hip replaced by Dr. Mullen on March 15, 2021. He is a wonderful surgeon and very personable . He is the best. Literature, complete with lots of pictures, was given prior to surgery allowing plenty of time to understand the procedure as well as what to expect afterward.

In 2017, I had both knees replaced, though not at the same time. Dr. Mullen did both surgeries, and I have been extremely happy and grateful for his expertise. How I lucked out and was recommended to go see him, I'll never know. And the therapist recommended was great, too. Anyway, thank you, thank you, and thank you, Dr. Mullen, for all you have done for me. I'd give you ten stars out of five if I could.

Dr. Mullen is an exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable surgeon! He provides excellent care to his patients. I have seen this first hand, because I have worked as a Surgical Tech for 4 years at a facility where he operates. So when I had an issue with my shoulder he was the only orthopedic sugeon I would go to. Staff is super helpful and friendly. I had a shoulder scope done and I was pain-free one week after surgery and never needed Rx pain killers. Now that I have been on both sides of operating room table with Dr. Mullen, My decision to go to him has now been reinforced exponentially! He is the best and my only recommendation to my family and friends

Dr Mullen repaired my torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder. I’m 68 years old. And I’m back on the tennis court just over 3 months after surgery. I feel great, I recommend him to anyone with a shoulder issue.

Dr. Mullen and his team are the best.

I am a high need patient with multiple severe injuries from a bad car accident over 10 years ago. When I moved to Arizona, I had the hardest time finding an orthopedic suregon who had the guts to take on a complicated case like mine. I won't mention any names, but previous orthopedic surgeons I went to loved to advertise how they fixed pro-athletes and how great they were in their profession. However, when they saw my x-rays and imaging, they suddenly became afraid to do anything for me other than prescribing painkillers or steroid shots, which is not the path I want to take. I wanted to find a doctor who can actually fix the physical problem not mask the pain with some drugs. When I came to see Dr. Mullen, my expectations were not high because I had been burned so many times before. He was willing to help me by removing all the bone spurs that were floating around my knee. It was such a simple procedure that no one wanted to take on, and I am grateful I found a doctor like Dr. Mullen who was willing to help me. I see a person below whining about the temperature being too hot in his office. We live in Arizona - it is always hot here. I highly recommend Dr. Mullen. I needed a total knee replacement due to issues related to a serious accident I had 6 years ago. Due to my accident my femur did not heal straight and I had a limp. If you’re looking for a second opinion and help with a previous surgery with chronic pain. Don’t waste your time or money. He was useless because he said he didn’t perform the surgery and he couldn’t make any suggestions. I was just looking for help regarding this chronic pain. Would not recommend him.

Unbelievable, Dr Mullen’s Stem Cell Treatments have completely healed my Torn Rotator Cuff with No Major Surgery. I am 69 years old and semi-retired. Most of my life golf has been my favorite sport and time to spend with special friends. A year ago I develop major pain in my left shoulder, after having an MRI Dr. Mullen confirmed that I had developed a torn Rotator Cuff. Initially to avoid major surgery we did steroid injections every 3 months for a year. It gave me a little relief in the beginning but then continued to just get more pain full. Wonderful Dr. Very talented surgeon He’s the best.

I am a relatively active 69 year old male, enjoying camping/fishing, hiking, riding my recumbent trike, and weight lifting. Over the past two years I needed surgery on both my left shoulder and left hip. I consider Doc Dan my miracle worker, he basically gave me back my quality of life. With both surgeries, and I guess this can relate to his expertise and knowledge while performing the surgeries, I did not have to take any pain medication during recovery and rehab, this is a testament showing how good he is at what he does. In addition his professionalism during the consultation and his bed side manners are exceptional. The proof is in the pudding so to speak, 8 weeks after hip surgery I was back walking and fishing at my favorite river location doing what I love, spending quality time with my wife our 2 dogs, being active and enjoying nature. Dr. Mullen was fantastic . I work for a hospital so having the ability to work a 12 hour shift with no pain is a blessing. I'm back to all my daily activities thanks to Dr. Mullen. before surgery I could hardly walk my knee would give out and id sometimes fall. I feel I've been given a second chance. Another thing that sets him apart from others is he really listens to you, I had questions before surgery and he sat with me and gave me an answer to them all ,very patient . His staff is wonderful to always greets you with a smile. Also able to answer any questions you may have.

Had hip replacement. Couldn't be happier. From the office staff to Dr. Mullen every thing runs efficiently and with excellent results.

Dr. Mullen is an OK doctor but his staff is rude and don't care about the patients that are seen at that facility. Cancelled my appoints today with this doctor....my advice run away from this place

Having been a former professional dancer I know good care and it is dependent upon a multitude of variables which include a responsibility for staff to follow up and actually CARE about establish patients and their concerns weather it be post appointment, surgery etc. I saw PA-Kelly Connor In August and she was pleasant, easy to talk with and gave me an Order for an MRI, script for PT and a cortisone shot placing it wherever the spot was that I told her that it was sore. She wanted to see me again AFTER I went to PT and had the MRI about 3 weeks later. I had the MRI immediately and they said the films and report would be sent by a courier over at the request of the Doctor's office. I thought that was great and it would get attention or at least be reviewed. When I saw the report it stated there was a mild tear among other things referenced and my immediate thought was an intelligent one, should I still start with PT now that we see there is a tear present? Makes sense you would like to be sure I am proceeding correctly. I left a v/m stating my name, spelled out, DOB, gave my consent to leave a detailed message on my phone as to if I should still start PT with the findings of the MRI and anyone could give me a quick call back. I phoned the front desk the day after and they said that if you left it on the general voice mail Kelly will not get it. It won't be forwarded to her? No, it's very difficult to get a hold of her and you could leave a message on her Medical Assistant's voicemail, which I did and still NOTHING!!!!! Totally Disregarded, ignored and what does that say?! The CARE is not there. Two voicemails on two different days and two different extensions and you cannot tell me they were not listened to and no one followed through? So, I went to PT and now I am in worse shape because a new ORTHO and specialist said you cannot always go by the report but actual have to view the images themselves and my tear is not at all mild. Well you may have a few good reviews but you are only as good as your last patient. You dropped the ball twice in this instance and I would be very hesitant to have an actual procedure there and not get a call back or not have the availability someone. The staff needs to look at why they are careless and do not care about their established patients. In this instance twice you failed and I am speaking your name and to my experience. Wonder what the AMA and Hippocratic Oath would say about this. But they know how to take your co-pay! Great doctor. Surgery with him was the best decision I ever made. I'm a retired nurse and know what I'm talking about.

He's been my doctor for 15 years, a bunch of different surgeries on me and my family, shoulder, knees, great doctor!

The staff was very friendly the entire time. Dr. Mullen was able to answer all of my questions and is very friendly as well. Would highly recommend!

I truly appreciated his honesty. He also told me the shot may not work as well as it did for my husband as my arthritis is more severe. Dr. Mullen is an exceptional doctor and his staff first class! About a year ago he treated my son on an emergency basis that required him and his staff to stay after regular office hours. The surgery and following PT was very successful which allowed my son to recover in time to play all of the regular season football games! My son was the leading rusher on his team and named All-State RB! I too am a patient of Dr. Mullen, and I received the same top quality care from Dr. Mullen and his staff. Did a wonderful job with both my knees. Helped me get my life back!

I was referred to Dr. Mullen by a friend after 3 long years of being passed around from specialist to specialist. I was an active person involved in many sports but broke my hip doing a "fun run obstacle course". I had been told that I'd never run again by everyone I'd seen except Dr. Mullen. He never gave up on me and today I'm running again and signed up for a mud run! He was very honest with me and talked to me like family. I appreciated the honesty. I would absolutely use him again!

Had a total knee replacement two weeks ago. Three of my friends had used Dr. Mullen for their knees and strongly encouraged me to consider Dr. Mullen. VERY happy I followed their advice. From my first appointment the staff has been stellar: responsive, good communication, kind and on top of every detail - even the billing. On surgery day Dr. Mullen was excellent. I was home by noon and walking that day. If you want the A-team, this is surgeon to use.

Dr. Mullen is an EXCELLENT surgeon with a witty humor sense of humor and a warm, caring personality. I credit Dr. Mullen with my nearly pain-free recovery from a torn rotator cuff repair. I only took Advil after the 2nd day! Kelly, Dr. Mullen's PA, is a valuable team member who answered my many questions and relieved my unfounded anxiety with professionally delightful suggestions . Dr Mullen and his staff have my admiration for the work they do and my highest recommendation .

The worst visit I have ever experienced. What are you here for? My knee and hip. Which one are you here for? My knee, but the hip is causing much of my knee problem. The x-ray shows your knee is fine. What about the bone from hip to knee that shows a white milky substance in it? Don't know what you are talking about. Yesterday, I had an appointment to see the Physician’s assistant, Kelly Connor. (I am not blaming her) I walk with a walker. When my husband and entered the office, it was extremely warm. After about five minutes, my husband saw my discomfort and told the receptionist. Nothing was done. I went outside and waited to be called for my appointment. Sitting on the sidewalk, waiting for an appointment in an overly warm doctor’s office…. how bout that??? After about 15 minutes, a very older lady came out and almost lost her bearing. Her husband held her up and led her to their car. She looked at me and said, “I almost died in the examining room. It was so very hot, I almost fainted.” The woman was in very bad shape. It scared me. I told her I would say something. My husband told the receptionist who told him the that AC was working. What????????????????? This told me everything. We cancelled my appointment and will never return. Our estimation of this was, if you are allowing your patients extreme discomfort from an overly warm reception room and examination rooms, that you don’t really care for your patients at all. The one thing we could wish for you is: Your hot office’s effects on your mother, father, wife and children. We are so grateful to Dr. Dan Mullen. My mother is 83 and needed a hip replacement. We were very concerned and wondered if she could fully recover and return to normal activities. Our son was sent to Dr, Mullen for what we thought was a bad knee. He wanted an MRI first and the radiologist said his knee was fine, but his femur looked funny. Another MRI was done the same day and a huge cancerous bone cancer was found. When my son went into see Dr. Mullen the next morning, he had already contacted Mayo Clinic and gotten him set up to see he felt, one of the best Ortho surgeons in Arizona. Our heads were spinning, Dr. Mullen had taken care of getting us going to Mayo Clinic before we ever met him It was a smooth transition to Mayo thanks to him. I recently had shoulder surgery and want to thank Dr Mullen for the excellent care given. My surgery was done exceptionally well. My wife just had knee surgery and Dr Mullen did a great job. We are both very happy with the results. Just by talking with Dr Mullen I can tell he is very up front and honest with his patient but he is also passionate about his work.

Dr Mullen did an excellent job of fixing my shoulder. If I ever need an orthopedist, I will be back to see him! Wait time is little high but he takes all the time you need.

I am a retired nurse who has done two knee replacements and repaired a torn rotator cuff. He is very patient friendly and comforting. His office staff is also extremely efficient and helpful. I recommend Dr. Mullen to everyone, including my son!

Dr. Mullen did an incredible job with my shoulder. He clearly explained my recovery process and even referred me to a great PT office close to my house. If you need to see an orthopedic surgeon, go see Dr. Mullen.

The Dr. did not answer my questions, he created confusion and frustration in his interaction. He did not keep his word and follow up with us. Someone else called to report the test results who was unable to answer medical questions. I had to see another specialist to get my concerns addressed.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a surgeon! In spite of going in with recent x-rays I was told the doctor wouldn't see me w/o x-rays taken there. Doctor told me hospitals won't allow him to do surgery on patients with high BMI (which I already knew and had already lost half the necessary weight), at which point he pretty much blew me off. I am pretty certain he didn't even look at the multiple x-rays he took (and for which I will be billed). Total waste of time and money.
