Dr. James B Rector

Dr Rector did 2 hip resurfacing surgeries on me in Jan and Mar or 2009. Severe heterotopic ossification set in. He had absolutely zero recommendations or followup on my condition and pretty much washed his hands of my care. I have seen others in the same situation. Just know, that if things go well, he is all smiles. When there are problems or issues, you will be on your own and it's a frightening place to be when your surgeon refuses support and help.

When things go well, he is a great surgeon. When there are problems, he runs. A patient who has post surgical problems can expect zero help or compassion from this surgeon. Others will verify this. Roll the dice.

Always great. Not always what I want to hear but what I need to hear. He’s always honest.

Dr. Rector has put me back together on a number of occasions after a number of my exploits. His amazing diagnostic skills in particular set him apart. Dr. Rector has been my Go To for 12 years and is the best!

I had a Birmingham Hip resurfacing done by Dr Rector in 2014 and last week 03/2021 a arthroscopic procedure on my knee. Both operations a 100% success! Doctor Rector and Mathew Schneider (his assistant) are superior in their field!

Dr. Rector did a BHR hip resurfacing in 2010 that brooke in 2013, he never informed me that the hip was recalled. The cobalt poisoning has ruined my life and I have no power to sue Smith & Nephew because the statute of limitation in Colorado is only 2 years. Dr. Rector is irresponsible and doesn't have his patients best interests in mind. Metalosis has ravished my brain and I am not the same person I used to be because of this faulty medical devise that Dr. Rector told me was safe. I received a total right hip replacement on August 7, 2018 by Doctor James Rector. His highly professional services were all I could have desired. He and his medical assistant Maureen were warm and proficient and I felt confident from the start. Just hours after my surgery I walked the hospital hallway with my physical therapist without needing the support of a walker or cane. I had no pain and was very impressed with my procedure. Now, four days later, the pre-surgery pain in my leg has not returned, and only a slight soreness remains at the site of the surgery. had a hip replacement, back to work in 12 days! Dr. Rector was great!

Dr. Rector replaced both my knees, 3 months apart, about six years ago. My pain was pretty bad. I am now 95% pain free with excellent range of motion. Dr. Rector is a wonderful doctor.

Dr. Rector replaced my right hip. I was able to walk without support the night of the surgery. The next day I walked out of the hospital and went to work. Two days later I started driving. Four days post-op I flew my airplane and went on a 4-mile hike without any support. I only needed to use regular Tylenol for about 8 days to control the minor pain. Now, three months later, I am completely pain free, have no limp and am rock climbing again. This guy is the greatest surgeon ever!

Dr. Rector is one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the country and we're so lucky that his practice is in Boulder. I would rate him 6 stars if that were possible. I can't say enough good things about this doctor. He is at the top of his game, his staff is super and I recommend him without hesitation. He stays current on developments in his field and is a caring and extremely competent professional. Dr. Rector has been wonderful to me. He has helped me through a broken hip and a pretty bad knee. I could not ask for a better surgeon, and even his bedside manner with me at his office and hospital stays, has been excellent. I would very highly recommend Dr. Rector.
